    Thought for a Raw-Side Feud

If anyone, I think Shelton Benjamin would be a good opponent for Hassan right now. It's a simple, natural enough feud that it wouldn't expose Benjamin on the mic, and Shelton's a good enough worker that he could keep Hassan from getting exposed in the ring. The IC belt's a natural target for Hassan anyway, and I think everything about the feud would make perfect sense.

Hassan- World Champ within a Year

You do remember that in his biggest match so far, he blew a spot so bad that they completely changed the finish from him getting the pin to losing by DQ, right? The guy's so poor in the ring that he should actually probably be in OVW right now. Also he's got the definition of a midcard gimmick. It relies mainly on cheap heat, and while it can work most of the way up the card, it's not the kind of thing you want headlining your brand. About six months from now, he'll be as stale as Eugene. The guy's a solid mic worker, and I think he works fine in his role, but there's no way he even deserves a title shot, let alone a run with the belt.

God damn it. I really hate Carolina. I still think Illinois was the better team, but no one big enough to guard May could stay out of foul trouble, and they missed a bunch of open shots that could have gotten the job done at the end. It actually kind of reminds me of the Duke/UConn game last year, where the team that everyone had been hyping all year long caught all the breaks en route to victory. I have to admit, one of the things that pisses me off the most is having Dick Vitale be right with his national title pick every damn year. Just once, I want the team he picks to win it all to just go out in the first round.

    Draft

I think that was just a rumor perpetrated by the internet. WWE's never mentioned the idea themselves, and there's no reason to think they would. I think if anything, a small trade would be more reasonable.

Small ball died about five or ten years ago. No one really plays it now. If I were commissioner, I'd wait a year or two to see how all this steroid stuff turns out, and if things don't change, I'd move all the fences back 20 to 30 feet. If you ask me, the proliferation of constant homers is what's made the game get boring. Finding ways to move the runners over and manufacture runs is a lot more exciting than hitting the ball over a fence.

An all-star women's team wouldn't even beat a lot of high-school boys' teams. If you ever watch the women's game, it's just so unathletic. No one can jump or run the floor. All they do is work the ball around and jack up jumpers or use crappy post moves that would never work on a man. Two telling things on the women's game: 1. SportsCenter has to run it like a huge story whenever a woman dunks in a college game or even a WNBA game. In my high school of 200 people, three kids on the boys' varsity team had dunked in games. 2. Also on SportsCenter, they did a story on the Tennessee women's team a while back. They said they got their edge by having guys that weren't good enough to actually play on the men's team practice with them. That way, they could get a lot tougher challenge than running with their second string, because these guys that were just playing a little on the side were as good as the best women's basketball team in the country.

Really? When I was in middle school and elementary school, it would happen a decent amount, although there did have to be a lot of people together already. I will agree that basketball and football are much easier to start games up for, however.

Fantasy WWE vs. TNA Matches You'd Like To See

I can see it now. A 40 minute snoozefest that sees HHH kicking out of 17 Strokes and 49 guitar shots, Jarrett kicking out of the Pedigree before the entire roster of both companies run in for a non-finish and 6 guys inexplicably turn heel. Nah, Jarrett jobbing to the pedigree in ten minutes despite the entire TNA roster running in sounds more like it. If Jarrett did hit a Stroke in there, HHH would make sure to kick out at one.

    Judgment Day Main Event

They better have something good planned for the undercard, because I think by that point, the fans will be pretty damn sick of the JBL/Cena feud. I've got a feeling that Cena's first buyrate's as champ is going to come in pretty low.
  10. I don't know. It's one of those things that you think is bad the whole time you're watching it, but you just can't turn it off. I watched the end last night, and now I'm watching it from the beginning this morning, even though I have homework I should be doing that's due later today.

Actually, I really enjoy rugby when I watch it. It's right on par with boxing in terms of pure aesthetic appeal. (Another sport I should have mentioned, as potentially boxing can be just as enjoyable as hockey.) However, as far as team sports go, I like the idea of a regular season followed by playoffs leading to a champion. The idea of repetitive test matches with an occasional "cup" with three or four teams at the top level just kind of leaves me cold. If rugby had a World Cup that was on the same caliber as soccer's world cup, I think it would be absolutely huge, and I wouldn't miss it, but the format, and general lack of exposure in the States has kept me from getting as into rugby as any of the four major American team sports.

Remember, the Devil Rays mascot is guaranteeing a win. Just saying. It's motivation and all. Go Jays Go! I'm guessing the mascot didn't know that Dewon Brazelton was their opening day starter. Not that he won't be a good pitcher someday, but I don't think he's quite at Roy Halladay level yet.

    WrestleMania 22

Personally, I like Undertaker © vs. Brock Lesnar as the real main event and Randy Orton © vs. The Rock on the Raw side. And for big undercard matches, I'd like to see: HHH vs. Kurt Angle Chris Jericho vs. John Cena
  14. Actually, forget the whole thing. The lower, the better.
  15. If we're actually semi-serious about this, it's obvious that getting rid of OAO threads for Raw, Smackdown, and PPVs hurt a lot. That's over 500 posts a week right there.

    The future of RAW

Now, that's kind of interesting. Even having three or four shows a year on NBC could be a big boost to the WWE's exposure, and it would be a neat change from Raw, Smackdown, and PPVs.

    JoeDirt's old school match thread

I'd actually really like to see the HBK/Angle match if someone wants to upload it. I was watching a shitty feed of the webcast for a while, but it was so bad, I finally gave up. I have been trying to avoid the results though, so that I can watch HBK/Angle with an open mind.

Can a Afro American ever be a big main eventer?

For the record, Shawn Michaels was the best worker on Raw at that point, as when he first came back, he was really motivated to show that he could still go, and was putting on consistently good to great matches. Jericho wasn't at his peak, but he was also wrestling much better than Booker T. Triple H wasn't that far removed from the Summerslam match that was better than anything Booker had done in his life, and despite looking bad when he got stuck with Scott Steiner, he was a better wrestler than Booker T as well. I'd even say that Rob Van Dam was a better worker than Booker at the time.

Can a Afro American ever be a big main eventer?

Oh my god. That might be the most nonsensical post ever. The Rock was jobbing to everyone because he was half black? He went THREE YEARS without a clean loss. He was more protected than anyone since Hulk Hogan. If Rocky was a jobber, I'd hate to see what it takes to be a real main event star.

Can a Afro American ever be a big main eventer?

You've got to be kidding me. Booker T hasn't had a **** singles match since joining the WWE, let alone reached the consistent match quality of a Chris Jericho or a Shawn Michaels. If you want to say that he was over for a while and he deserved the title, that's an arguable point, but to say he was the best worker on Raw is just ridiculous. As for Trips, Shawn, and Taker, they're all established stars that had runs at the top before the company hit its latest downturn, and they're much more marketable than Booker T would be. You may feel sorry for Book because he never got the belt in the WWE, but that doesn't mean there's any logical reason to push him.

    Backlash main event

I kinda figured all along that Batista would win the title at Mania, and then take on Trips in a stipulation rematch at Backlash. With all the heat this feud's gotten, they'd be stupid to end it at one month no matter who wins at Mania.

Can a Afro American ever be a big main eventer?

Yeah, ignoring skin color, Booker T's nowhere near as talented as someone like a Stone Cold Steve Austin, and I honestly believe that if he'd shown a little more charisma and acting ability in his feud with HHH, he would have won the title at WM XIX. The Rock's a perfect example that if somebody's talented enough, he'll get over regardless of his skin color. I mean, when Michael Jordan was at his peak, no one was clamoring for Larry Bird to come back and take his throne away. Since wrestling's more about charisma than it is about athletic ability, the percentage of blacks is closer to the overall population than it is to the percentage of blacks in sports, but I'm pretty sure that if there is racism present in the WWE, it's only at the entry level, and they'd have no trouble pushing a black worker to the top if he was talented enough.

There's also commercial breaks, time between possessions, clock stoppages, halftime, and all that fun stuff. The game doesn't stop for commercial breaks, but timeouts do occur. All these things also apply to baseball too, except for halftime. Actually, that's completely untrue. Both college football and the NFL take TV timeouts. The NFL is by far, the greater offender, as they'll take a TV timeout both before and after a kickoff whenever points are scored. I'd venture to guess that there are 15 to 20 TV timeouts on average, per NFL game, not even counting the timeouts taken by the actual teams. Also, in the NFL the average time between plays is about 30-40 seconds, so it's no wonder that people complain that the game is slow. I mean, when you have a 3 and a half hour game, and the teams are actually playing for probably 15 minutes of that time, it's no wonder that people think the game is slow and get bored.

Would Monty Brown get over in WWE?

It's hard to get anywhere if they push you for two months and then they take you off TV. If they would have just put a little effort into Henry, he could have been a really over heel or face, but instead they just let a couple people get over on him, and then took him off TV.

Would Monty Brown get over in WWE?

Did Mark Henry even play football? I just remember him as a weightlifter and as the World's strongest man. BTW, I think they gave up on Henry way too early. He was fairly over with the fans and he had some serious potential. I think it was more of a case of the bookers not enjoying his stuff than it was the fans not being into it.
