Actually, after some very quick research, Villanova was an 8 seed when they won it all in 1985 and LSU was an 11 seed when they made the Final Four in 1986.
-
I'm pretty sure that Villanova was a 9 seed when they won it all that one year.
-
This is a hell of a game. Louisville needs to hurry out of the timeout though if they want to get a 2 for 1.
-
Louisville's actually played really well just to be this close right now. The shooting night WV's having tonight is pretty much once in a lifetime.

The reason boxing's fallen off so far is totally due to lack of exposure. A good fight's far more intrisically entertaining than a basketball or football game, but the top guys hardly ever fight, and when they do, it's on PPV. If every major heavyweight fought every three months, with at least one fight a year being hyped up on NBC or something, the interest would come back in no time. I know that whenever a major fight does happen on HBO or Showtime, (when I'm home where I get those channels), it takes precedence over pretty much anything else on TV, but the big fights are so rare that it's really hard to keep track of what's going on. Oh, and the dipshit that wants to make boxing more like wrestling is retarded. Boxing's a great sport, and it draws fine when people can actually watch it.

Ha ha. Fuck Louisville.

Well, my bracket's officially fucked now. If I had Duke and Illinois, I still had a shot, but this Michigan State thing ends it. I probably still have a shot at second in my pool just for Illinois winning it all, but I'm really not going to follow the tournament all that closely now. I really can't believe how bad I fucked up my picks this year.
-
I have to say, for all the talk about Duke getting calls, Shelden Williams never gets one. That was the only one all day that you could classify as a real foul, but it's still pretty ticky tack. If you remember, Williams got some pretty bullshit fouls called against him in the Final Four last year too.
-
Oh, and taking away that basket is fucking bullshit. If the criterion is the ball going through the rim, he had it by a good couple inches.
-
OK, Duke's finally turning it around. I really need them to win this game.

The idea that HH was telling the truth, at least in reference to this is completely wrong. He actually is talking out his ass, because while it may be true that Batista would have beaten JBL and Cena, it's patently false that HHH will defeat him at Wrestlemania. In fact, if HHH hadn't put so much promo effort into reminding everyone how great he is, I think everyone would have realized by now that Batista going over at Wrestlemania is a foregone conclusion.

Nova's a good team. I like them. But with OSU out I have to pick someone else to go all the way. Hmmmm.......I should probably go with Louisville since I almost went to school there and like that team. And at least OSU didn't get blown out like everyone thought they would. 1 freaking point. Yeah right. "Everyone" thought they'd get blown out. Actually, they were a 2 1/2 point favorite, and they probably should have won the game. If you really want to know who's going to win though, just take what I think, and go with the opposite. By that token, Arizona's going to beat Illinois, Kentucky's going to beat Duke, and then just because I have to get some easy ones right by accident, Louisville and Carolina will fill up the Final Four. Then, since I had U of A going out in the first round, they'll probably beat Carolina for the championship. At this point, I'll just hope Duke wins tomorrow to string me along for one more day that I still have a chance of winning my pool.
-
By the way, I have to say that Louisville's been extremely impressive during this tournament. I watched them play a few times throughout the year, and they didn't seem anything like this. It seems like whenever anybody gets them to miss a shot and then gets a defensive rebound without fouling, it's a frigging miracle. They're offense looks a lot better than Carolina's right now. I'm still hoping for them to lose, because my main competition in my money pool has them in the Final Four, and that's probably part of why I picked them to lose tonight, but their offense has been crazy.
-
Well you were pretty good at football predictions. Maybe basketball isn't your strong suit. Nah, I've been good in the past. Last year, I had almost everything right except that I didn't think UConn would beat Duke. It's just that this tournament, I've been terrible. If you just picked the 1 seeds to win, and then flipped a coin for all the other games, you probably would have beat me for the first two rounds.

I guarantee that Batista will go over HHH at Wrestlemania. If he doesn't, I'll make a couple quick posts about what a misguided idiot I was, and then never post in the WWE folder again.

HHH has more charisma than Batista, don't kid yourself. WTF? Since when did Batista having charisma even become an arguement? I thought it was that he looked good in a suit. But being able to smirk real well...does not constitute charisma. You rated him above Jericho, Michaels, JBL (who's gotten over pretty much on his charisma) WTF? For one Batista's had what? 1 month on his own, where he doesn't just stand in the background. So I doubt that's sufficient time to say he has great charisma. And 2, the 1 month that he has had on his own, his promos haven't been that great. He was good at the little subtle smirks, and jabs at HHH...but that definitely doesn't make him #2 in the WWE with charisma. If you read what I said, I acknowledged that HBK, HHH, and Jericho all have more natural charisma than Batista. However, based on what they've done the last few months, Batista's shown more charisma than anyone except Angle. Jericho's had some embarrassing interviews that make me want to change the channel, and it's HHH's own fault that he doesn't anything original with his character in two years. I'll admit that while Cena annoys me to the point that I stopped watching Smackdown regularly, when I've checked in lately, he looks like he's gotten better. But no matter how long JBL holds the title, I still don't see him as a main eventer because of his character. To be honest, I felt the same way about Eddie when he had the belt, and that's why I don't rate them higher. To clarify, I judge charisma much more on how much someone entertains me than hwo much the crowd pops.

My predictions aren't worth jack shit right now, but I say: Illinois 72 UW Milwaukee 53 Washington 80 Louisville 79 Texas Tech 64 West Virginia 59 Oklahoma State 69 Arizona 63

Well, I'll admit that my feelings about Booker T's charisma might be swayed a little bit by the fact that he has the most boring matches in the WWE, but saying that he's one of the top 20 most charismatic workers is pretty much indefensible. He has a couple of catchphrases that have gotten over, but aside from that he has 5 interviews that miss the mark completely for every one that's a little bit funny or clever. Basically, he has to be fed an absolutely perfect line to not mess it up, and every time he has to improvise, he looks more like a rookie straight out of OVW than someone that's been wrestling on television for over ten years.

Worst wrestling related conversationd you've heard
iggymcfly replied to Epic Reine's topic in General Wrestling
I said the exact same thing to them. But of course, it HAS to be fake blood, because it's IMPOSSIBLE that they would ever do anything even remotely close to real, right? RIGHT? People will believe the dumbest things before they will believe that wrestlers actually do get hurt. Oh, I agree completely. Explaining blading to someone that doesn't watch wrestling much is like explaining to a smark that HHH doesn't really hold talent down, and just deserves to be the top guy. No matter how many times you walk them through it, they won't believe you. -
Here's a proper charisma listing in the WWE as of right now: 1. Kurt Angle 2. Batista 3. Chris Jericho 4. Shawn Michaels 5. Undertaker 6. JBL 7. Ric Flair 8. Eric Bischoff 9. Triple H 10. Eddie Guerrero Cena's stuff is great for the small minority of young marks that will actually buy merchandise, but for the general fanbase, he's gotten too stale to be considered a top ten guy. Booker T is a terrible actor, and has very little charisma compared to even the Smackdown roster. I really can't see how he got mentioned. Shawn Michaels, Chris Jericho, Undertaker, Ric Flair, and even HHH all have more natural charisma than Batista, but really aren't putting in the effort at this point. Jericho only goes for the easy joke now, whereas Shawn seemingly hasn't taken a feud seriously since his first couple go-rounds with HHH. At this point, Batista and Angle are the only ones that can really make it seem like what they're doing matters, and that seem clever enough that you'll tune in to see them. JBL and Eddie's stuff can be funny, but it seems more like midcard joke stuff than Batista's instant badass type of charisma. One last clarification, this is based on what they're doing with their character right now. There's a time when RVD would have been Top 5, and there's a time when Edge and Christian would have been Top 3, but based on what they've done recently, this is how I feel they should be ranked.

Now, that's a change we don't need. The last thing we need to do is shuffle pitchers constantly in an 18-team league. I think finding 7 solid pitchers per team is plenty.
-
Thanks a lot, jinx. Now you'll have to live with Cena vs. JBL That would be a terrible waste of the WWE Title.
-
Actually, I think Orton and Batista could have a great World Title feud after Orton beating Taker at Mania, even trading the belt back and forth like Rock and HHH in 2000. However, if Orton's hurt, that kind of screws the whole idea. Really, if he's going to down with an injury, it would be terrible timing to end Taker's streak, as a ton of the heat will be gone by the time he comes back. The way I'd do it, is work the injury into the story of the match, so that Orton dominates the bulk of the match, but then sustains some "fluke injury" which Taker is able to take advantage of in order to get the win.

Markish impressions you had as a youth
iggymcfly replied to Steve J. Rogers's topic in General Wrestling
I remember that I used to think that a bunch of different guys had played the Undertaker character, because I never started really watching the shows until '98, and he looked way different than I remembered him looking when I'd catch wrestling for a few seconds as I was flipping channels. -
That would be 6 x 5. OBP is a category in the league too. Personally, I think it should just be set the same as it was before the draft unless there's a good reason to change it. And I'm almost positive that those settings included losses and earned runs.
