Shit, Yahoo says Trachsel's supposed to miss 3 to 12 months. Why couldn't we have done the live draft this weekend instead of last weekend?
-
He'd probably be available later, but I really want him, and he'll be a good keeper, so I'm just gonna take him now. Filling out the rotation of Juiced Up: Noah Lowry

The hell kind of press release is this?
-
How the hell does the game even work? I know you make up a ton of stuff, but what's the actual structured part?

I have to agree with whoever else posted it that Brock Lesnar being even with Randy Orton is the most utterly irrational thing on the list. Brock main evented Wrestlemania, and was a successful draw for close to two years. Orton was tried as a draw for a few months and then brought back to the midcard when he failed miserably. Big difference if you ask me.

Benoit vs. Triple H on Raw tommorow night
iggymcfly replied to iliketurtles's topic in The WWE Folder
RRR, your such a mark for Benoit that it's blinding you to the purpose of the show. Last year, they were trying to build Benoit up as their top star. They gave him clean wins over HHH and HBK, and tried to make him into their top draw. He didn't set the world on fire enough to be given an Austin or Rock level multi-year run as the top face, but he was established as a solid main eventer. This year, they're trying to build up Batista as their top star. Since HHH was beaten so many times by Benoit last year, Benoit actually needs to put over HHH, so that it will be clear who the top guy on the show is when Batista wins at Wrestlemania. Otherwise, even though Batista will be portrayed as the top guy, there will be a feeling that it's the same old thing rather than something new and exciting. The point of the match was to show that HHH had progressed from last year, and now had found a way to counter the sequence that finished him last year. That way Batista gets to beat the real "top guy" on Raw, and not just the #2 guy who happens to be good at EC matches. -
Give him Julio Lugo. He still needs a shortstop, and Lugo's about as solid as he'll find at this point.

I just find it necessary to comment that I started to read the replies here, and they might have been the dumbest, least funny thing I've ever read. It reminds me of every joke I've ever heard from people with no sense of humor. Sorry for flaming, but I just couldn't let this go.

Alabama A&M was actually a 5:2 underdog just because the team with a losing record always wins the play-in game, so I threw a little money on them, but it didn't work out. Oh well, I'm still going to win plenty of money on the actual tourney.

I've watched Washington play quite a bit this year, and they're actually extremely solid, probably the only legitimate team out of the Pac Ten. However, they're still the most vulnerable of all the 1 seeds, and it seems like somebody gets an early flameout every year. I like Pittsburgh myself, but realistically, everyone in that subregional sans Montana could reach the Sweet 16 easily.

Wow, we really are at a meeting of the minds on this one. I was thinking that Oklahomna State is probably about the third strongest team in the tournament, as far as potential to go far, and our Final Four is the exact same. In addition, I also remember remarking that Duke's bracket was one of the easiest I'd seen, and Oklahoma was the only other decent squad in there. The only major difference is I have Duke beating Carolina to get to the Final Four due to their tournament experience, and the fact that by watching them play, I actually think they're more talented. Shelden Williams will outplay Sean May any day, and while Felton and McCants are really good, they still can't take over a game like J.J. Redick can. The depth I don't think will matter at that point, because if Duke's playing Carolina in the Final Four on six days rest, they'll have enough adrenaline to play all night.

Benoit vs. Triple H on Raw tommorow night

I like how the putting over new talent thing's only supposed to apply to HHH. It's obvious that they're trying to make Batista the new #1 guy in the company. They need to make him as strong as possible at Wrestlemania, so it's only natural that they try to show that his WM opponent is strong as well. Since Benoit basically bitch-slapped HHH through their entire feud last year, they have to do something to show that it's special when Batista does it. Basically, Benoit doing the job to HHH tonight puts over Batista more in the long run than anything else he could do. The idea that this match happened because HHH "wanted his job back" is so naive and stupid that I don't even know how to respond to it. -
Georgia Tech clinched a spot about a week and a half ago. All that beating Carolina and stretching Duke to the limit did was give them there confidence back. Last year, they went 9-7 in conference, beat Carolina in the ACC quarters, lost to Duke in the semis, and then made a run to the national championship. This year, they went 8-8 in conference, beat Carolina in the semis, and lost to Duke in the final. It's got to be feeling pretty familiar. Especially considering that the only starter they're missing from last year's squad is Marvin Lewis, and he really wasn't doing shit by the end of the year. As for Louisville, I said in the other thread that after looking at it a little further, I would have actually given them the last three seed over Gonzaga, and Oklahoma, but the line's really thin, and they're pretty weak in that position. I'm not much of a conspiracy theorist, but I wouldn't be surprised if the committee put Georgia Tech and Louisville together on purpose. If they knew they were going to get criticism for seeding Louisville so low, what's the best way to deflect it? Just send in Georgia Tech who's got talent and experience that go way beyond their record to go in and knock them off.

I've got the same thing. Along with Utah St. beating Arizona in the first round. Utah State WILL NOT WIN, if they do, you can have me banned. I think these kind of announcements should work on a progressive scale, where every time someone does this, they get banned for longer than the person who did it before. I think that when Utah State beats Arizona, he should be banned for at least two or three days longer than Damaramu was banned. And if he gets a sidekick to relay secret messages to the board, then they should both be banned for life.

Flik, seriously, you should keep Pettite and Halladay, relax, and ignore everyone's complaints. You did everything you could to try to bring people together, and if someone missed out on future MVP Wade Miller, well too bad. Anyone who really wanted a particular player could always just attend the live draft, or have made their offline picks faster in order to avoid the live draft in the first place. I can understand why you're pissed off now, but as soon as the draft is done, things will run a lot more smoothly, and you'll probably start enjoying the league again as long as you don't dismantle your team to placate people.

Well, the only rankings I care about are my own, and I didn't have those done yet, so I wasn't quite sure where Louisville belonged. On further review, I'd actually give them the last 3 seed by a spot over Oklahoma, due to Oklahoma not getting the job done on a neutral court against Texas Tech. However, I can totally see why the committee would do that. Their resume is paper thin, with their only noteworthy wins being: at Florida, at Cincinnatti, Cincinnatti, at Stanford, and Charlotte. The media's been overrating them all year because their a name-vaule school that hasn't lost in a while. However, without the big wins, it's hard to reward a team with a protected seed.
-
OK, Florida's fairly solid, but they hadn't come together at all yet in December, and when that's your best win of the year, it's nowhere near enough to justify a 2 seed. A 3 seed, I can almost see an argument, but I'd still put Louisville as a 4. The only team above Louisville that doesn't deserve their seed is Arizona, and I'd say Boston College and Syracuse (regular season and tournament champs respectively, in a real conference) deserve it more than Louisville. And while the Jackets don't usually blow people out, I guarantee that they will beat Louisville. Pittsburgh and Gonzaga worry me a little bit, but I think Louisville has a better chance of dropping the opener than they do of beating G. Tech. If Louisville wins, you have full permission to "trash me all over this forum" to your heart's content. I'll try to be a little classier in victory, but if Jarrett Jack and Will Bynum both break their legs or something and Louisville wins, you go nuts.

I watched about 25 seconds of the ACC Championship game the other day, saw JJ Reddick hit a three and heard Vitale blew a gasket, had to turn the channel. He's a joke, almost a parody of himself, it's really pathetic. I hope that no one takes him seriously anymore. He's not that bad. I watched the whole game, and he kept talking about Duke got too tentative, and Georgia Tech was playing such great defense. Then, he was absolutely all over the refs when Redick got that foul call, so I'd say the "Duke bias" isn't really strong enough to worry about. As for the Final Four, if you took a poll of the country to see who was going to be in the Final Four, Duke, Carolina, and Wake would all be solid favorites, so three ACC teams isn't all that unreasonable. Personally, I think Wake will lose to Gonzaga, but I still see three ACC teams making it too. Kansas won't make it without Langford, Oklahoma State's stuck in Illinois's bracket, Oklahoma's a little too young, UConn doesn't have the talent to keep up with Carolina, and Kentucky and Washington both have choke written all over them. The only teams I can really see keeping the ACC out are Syracuse, Pittsburgh (yes at a 9 seed), and Gonzaga.

Check out sportsbookreview.com. It has a list of almost all the major sportsbook sites, and I think by affiliation, a decent amount of casino sites too. That way, you can at least make sure you'll get paid out if you win. I've actually lost a decent amount of money on internet gambling over the past year or so, but it's a fun diversion if you can cut yourself off when you're losing.

If a heel was smart, they'd wait until there was a challenger already announced for the PPV, and then say they'd take their title shot... immediately after the main event match. If Edge or Christian won, it would be a great way to give them a quick one month reign with lots of heat for a rematch, and no loss of heat on Batista, or else it could be a good way to put Batista over absolutely huge by beating two men in one night.
-
Ooh ooh! I've got this one. Try beating one solid team. Conference USA's a glorified mid-major this year, and the Cardinals don't have one good non-conference win. I bet if Virginia played Louisville's schedule, they'd have maybe six or seven losses and they'd get to go to the NCAAs too.
-
I've seen Arizona in person. Trust me, there's not that much to hold. All a team has to do is play solid defense, and the Wildcats will get frustrated and collapse. I think Utah State's more than capable.

Hey dipshit, I go to Wazzu, and we didn't even make the NIT. That's like saying I have Oklahoma losing to Illinois in the Elite 8.

Bodog screws you a little bit on futures, so I'm guessing you can get odds a little better than this. That being said, here are some odds that are copy and pasted, rather than remembered in a drunken haze: Anaheim Angels 11/1 Arizona Diamondbacks 65/1 Atlanta Braves 15/1 Baltimore Orioles 50/1 Boston Red Sox 11/2 Chicago Cubs 10/1 Chicago White Sox 25/1 Cincinnati Reds 75/1 Cleveland Indians 45/1 Colorado Rockies 400/1 Detroit Tigers 70/1 Florida Marlins 15/1 Houston Astros 18/1 Kansas City Royals 500/1 Los Angeles Dodgers 40/1 Milwaukee Brewers 250/1 Minnesota Twins 25/1 New York Mets 15/1 New York Yankees 9/5 Oakland Athletics 50/1 Philadelphia Phillies 30/1 Pittsburgh Pirates 220/1 San Diego Padres 28/1 San Francisco Giants 17/1 Seattle Mariners 25/1 St Louis Cardinals 11/1 Tampa Bay Devil Rays 300/1 Texas Rangers 50/1 Toronto Blue Jays 250/1 Washington Nationals 275/1

Arizona's losing in the first round.
