The Pistons scored 100 points? Wow, the Lakers must have really been asleep on that one.
  2. That might work better if Angle wasn't the GM that picks all these contenders in an attempt to get the belt off of Eddie.
  3. This just really amused me for some reason.

    MLB All-Star Balloting Begins

I'd say that Abreu being 10-10 in steals and scoring eight more runs shows that he can fill a niche on the All-Star team, as someone who can get on base and then score; maybe batting first or second. There's already plenty of guys who can drive in runs. They don't need a mediocre one like Burrell in the starting lineup. As for the balloting that's out so far, Nomar or Jeter at shortstop is clearly the most egregious error, but what really pisses me off the most is how few votes Melvin Mora has. I know that it's mainly done on name recognition, but you'd think that leading the AL in batting average, hitting 10 homers, driving in 36 runs, and stealing seven bases would be enough to get in the top 5 among AL third basemen. I certainly didn't expect him to have mnoe votes than A-Rod, but I thought SOME fans actully paid attention to what happened this year. And yes, I am an Orioles fan.

I'd have to say that right now, the Spurs are the favorite to win the title next year, but the Lakers could certainly do it. Shaq is still far and away the most dominant center in the game, Medvedenko will probably be better at the 4 next year than Malone was this year, and Fisher will run the point better than Payton did. Despite all the rumors to the contrary, its perfectly possile that Kobe will come back and get another easy ring instead of testing the free agent market as damaged goods while his rape trial is pending. Even if he doesn't, all it would take is one player who can score from the outside, (Quentin Richardson maybe?), and the Lakers could be hoisting the trophy yet again. Of course, I'd much rather see the Mavs pick up a post defender to shut down Shaq and Duncan, get Nick Van Exel back, and lose Antoine Walker, so they could reach the Finals instead.
  6. I don't believe this is happening. Not at all. It's just too ridiculous. I'm pretty sure that Eddie will still face Angle at Summerslam, and if not he'll go against someone credible like Booker or RVD. However, if this does happen, I'm completely done with Smackdown. No more checking in on the main event when I'm bored and there's nothing on TV. No more reading reports. No more discussing it on the internet. I'm just done.

Who needs a new gimmick the most?

I'd say Shelton Benjamin. They keep giving him all these wins, but he doesn't quite get over because he has no gimmick. None. He's just a boring guy who wrestles boring matches. At least when he was a heel on Smackdown, he had the whole amteur athlete thing, and the kissass thing a little bit. He also used a lot more varied moveset on Smackdown, and actually looked interesting in the ring. Now he just defines bland face.

Bullshit, they just would have played harder. The Lakers played with full effort for maybe two or three games this series, and when they did, they won every time. Look at Game 1. The X-factor in the series was the Lakers' interest, not Cassell or Hudson's health.

See, this is what I was talking about. When the Lakers feel tested, they play good team basketball and they demolish the competition. There's only one team in the league good enough to play with the Lakers when they're on, and thanks to Fisher's shot in Game 5 with .4 seconds remaining, they're already out. The Pistons have about as good a chance of beating the Lakers as the Expos do of going to the World Series.

Actually, come to think of it. I probably should have put Rolen over Castilla since he's not playing in Coors, and he has the major league lead in RBIs, but what can you do.

    MLB All-Star Balloting Begins

I don't have all the reserves, but here's the starters that I just voted for on MLB.com. American League C: Ivan Rodriguez- Detroit 1B: Frank Thomas- Chicago 2B: Brian Roberts- Baltimore (Had to write him in though; they had Hairston on the ballot instead, even though he's been DHing, and Roberts is the everyday second baseman.) 3B: Melvin Mora- Baltimore SS: Michael Young- Texas OF: Carlos Beltran- Kansas City OF: Vladimir Guerrero- Anaheim OF: Manny Ramirez- Boston National League C: Mike Piazza- New York 1B: Albert Pujols- St. Louis 2B: Jeff Kent- Houston 3B: Vinny Castilla- Colorado SS: Jack Wilson- Pittsburgh OF: Barry Bonds- San Francisco OF: Lance Berkman- Houston OF: Bobby Abreu- Philadelphia

Neither team from the East can "put up a fight" against LA. If the Lakers get early series lead and get bored, they might let the Pistons have a game or two, but there's no way that the Pistons can score enough to stay with the Lakers when they're really trying. If they try to pull that shit where they think they can win 76-68, Kobe will just get 35 on undefendable shots, and the Lakers will win it 85-76.

    MVP Baseball 2004

Well, I just bought this game a few days ago, based on what I'd heard. I have to say that at first, I really didn't like the hitting engine, as I'm used to All-Star Baseball, (even if I haven't played that for quite a while), and it's more satisfying to get the little power thing right on the ball for a home run. Also, I really don't like that you can't turn off the little replay that shows what you did every time you swing and miss. Yes, I was behind the ball. I GET IT! However, I am warming up to the game; even the hitting, and I find myself drawn to play it more and more. I am 0-8 so far on my dynasty on all-star with the Orioles, but 5 of those have been against the Red Sox, and I'm getting closer as time goes on.

    WWE Considering Bringing Back X-Pac?

The more I think about, the more I'd like to see X-Pac back in the WWE. Here are the pros and cons as I see them. Pros 1. He's a good wrestler when motivated. While he doesn't usually get to the four and five star range, he has no problem putting on solid *** matches on television, and has been known to go a little higher with a good PPV opponent. In fact, back in 1998, I remember he was one of the only ones bothering to wrestle a decent match on television. 2. He's got name recognition. The average mark knows who he is already, and he would be easy to accept in an upper midcard role. He's got the instant credibility that Smackdown sorely lacks, and that Raw could even use some of in the midcard. Also, he could easily grab heel heat off of his past, or even get a little returning star face heat. 3. He's still young. Yes, this one's true as well. At 32, he's six years younger than Booker T, and nine years younger than Rico. Unlike Sting and Lex who are on the verge of breaking down, X-Pac is perfectly capable of rising through the ranks, and still having time to succeed if he gets to the top. Cons 1. He's had some substance abuse problems. While this is certainly a downside, I don't think it's damning. He hasn't had the chronic, impossible to resolve problems like Scott Hall, and if he has to go off to rehab, they can always just run an injury angle, and use it to get someone over. 2. He's got some political power, which he's been known to use to his advantage. Obviously, another Kane/X-Pac feud is the last thing anyone wants to see. However, if he goes to Smackdown this should be a non-issue as none of his buddies will be there to protect him. Even if he goes to Raw, HHH will be gone most of the summer, and it seems like HHH isn't even interested in trying too hard to protect him right now. 3. He wasn't very over in his last couple of runs. This is more of a case of being in bad situations then being a bad worker. Obviously, he's capable of getting over, as shown by his work in 1998 and early 1999, when he was one of most over faces on the roster. However, when he was overpushed against Kane, and overpushed in the dying stages of the nWo, people rebelled against him, and he got "get off the TV screen" heat. As long as he's kept in check, he should have no problem getting over.

Which match should me the main event

Also, HHH and HBK going on last allows them to do a non-finish in the Benoit/Kane match, continue the feud and not piss off the fans too bad. And when it is the real blow-off to a two year long feud, why not? I say HHH/HBK has to main event Bad Blood.

    Huge Update on Lesnar....

Yeah, really. I read it too, and I thought it was interesting. It just told exactly what Brock was doing and why. As for the $9 million, it does seem a little high, but if you consider that he was main eventing just about every PPV he was on (bonus), selling quite a bit of merchandise, and maybe even threatening to leave if Vince didn't give him more money, it doesn't seem that far off. Oh, and Benoit's doing just fine now, don't worry. I'm sure that with the fact that he's main eventing his fourth PPV in a row for Raw, he doesn't have anything to worry about.

    Mordecai Vs ?

Wait, I've got the best idea yet. Mordecai says he has been sent by a greater power, who wants him to save "the chosen" from the fires of hell. At first, only Taker listens to him, but soon Rey and RVD join with him as well, after partaking in closed-door meetings with Mordecai and Taker. Mordecai then faces Eddie at the July Smackdown PPV, where he wins the title due to the interference of his new stable. Then, the next Smackdown, Mordecai reveals that his greater power was Eric Bischoff, and he was just saving the salvageable wrestlers from the hell known as Smackdown. The reason that Undertaker joined up first was that he caught what was going on due to the "greater power" storyline he had with Vince back in 1999. The next week on Raw, Mordecai throws the WWE Title in the trash, and announces that he is challenging for a "real title," the IC belt held by Shelton Benjamin. Smackdown is reformatted, and becomes a one hour show called Thursday Night Heat, Thunder, and Lightning that is put completely under control of Paul Heyman. Meanwhile, Eddie tries to, and eventually succeeds in getting on Raw as an anti-authority face, while the rest stay behind in midcard hell.
  19. Randy's close, but it's not quite his time yet. As long as HHH is the unquestioned leader of Evolution, Randy can't be taken seriously as a title contender. What he needs is some time to grow into the role while HHH is off making his movie. Then by this fall, around Survivor Series time, he'll be ready to not only compete for, but also win the World Championship. Benoit is perfectly capable to be the champion at that point, but if he is, he should give a quick one-month reign to someone like Kane on the way.
  20. The report never said that Kenzo can't speak Spanish. Shit, Rey can barely speak English either.

    Teen arranges own assassination

I like how the article treats it like the problem is that chatrooms aren't monitored enough. It's stupid. The kid could have called the person and told him to kill him just as easily.
  22. What I'd like to know is how long it's REALLY been since a WWE PPV's drawn as low as JD just did for Smackdown. It must be at least 1997 or 1998. Oh, and I think I figured out what the message from the Torch was saying. It was saying the last major PPV that drew that low was in February 2001, since that was the last time WCW put on a PPV. They weren't talking about No Way Out. Judgment Day was just barely outdrawing Greed.

    After the HINC Match

I don't really think this is a good idea. First off, just being the biggest name on Smackdown would make Shawn a huge face. Also, the logic behind it is really not there at all as Smackdown's clearly the second rate show, and Shawn wouldn't say he's done everything he can on Raw. If anything, this would make him a bigger face then ever. If he were to go to Smackdown as a heel, it would work better for him to lose to Benoit again, and then say that he knows he's blown his title shot on Raw, but it should be easy for him to move to Smackdown and beat Eddie.

    WWE Considering Bringing Back X-Pac?

I really don't see where all the hate for X-Pac is coming from. He's an average to good midcard heel, which is something both shows need right now. Just because they threw him into the nWo when they were desperate to keep the group going doesn't mean he'd be treated like a main eventer no matter what.

    WWE Considering Bringing Back X-Pac?

I wouldn't mind at all if X-Pac came back. The only way it would go wrong is if they tried to immediately thrust him into a main event role. I think he'd do good as either a cruiser or an upper midcarder on Smackdown, where they're desperate for talent with name value and charisma, especially on the heel side. Also, I could see him doing a good job joining Evolution, as long as they make it clear that he's kind of the bitch of the group that nobody respects. It's gonna be tough to hold Evolution together after HHH leaves, and if they brought X-Pac in as the bitch, it might help people see Orton and Batista as legitimate leaders. Besides, that might get Flair out of the job boy role.
