EWR 4.0 Has Officially Been Set Free!

No, I don't mean just for a regular match. I've done that tons of times. I mean to blowoff a major feud that's been going on for two or three months, and includes a clean win by each man. I was just afraid it might hurt their heat to have an anticlimactic ending like that.
  2. I'm referring to the Smackdown match from July (?) of 2001, where Angle stays on Kane's ankle the whole match, until Kane has no chance but to tap to the Ankle Lock (up until then, the first time that Kane had tapped out in a match). Oh, I think I do vaguely remember that match now that you mention it. That makes a lot more sense.
  3. Never mind, I just got 2001 and 2002 mixed up.
  4. Which Kane/Angle match are you talking about? I certainly hope you're not talking about the match from Wrestlemania X-8 because that was the worst PPV match Angle has had in the last two years.

EWR 4.0 Has Officially Been Set Free!

That makes me feel a lot better. I was wondering if it actually made a big difference on the ratings of the segments or if I was just bad at the game. The only segments I can get consistently over 90 are Raven interviews. That guy's pretty much golden on here. One more thing though. How does the level of your promotion affect how good your stuff has to be to raise the PI? I mean obviously a cult-level promotion can't be expected to put on as good of segments as the WWE just to stay steady. BTW, is it OK to blowoff a feud with a screwjob? I've never done it before, but I think I'm gonna have to with my Jarrett/Raven feud. AJ Styles has been champion for almost ten months, and I've been keeping Jarrett away from him, so it would be really climactic when he took the title, but during this feud Raven's gained about ten overness points to where he's now one point more over than Jarrett, and I'll want to continue their feud once Jarrett wins the title. I think I'll have AJ run in and give Jarrett the deciding win through botched interference.

    The "development boys"

I can't believe everybody forgot Rico. He didn't debut until after Brock. And how about Orlando Jordan? He's a new guy too.

    the Vince & HHH fiasco!

Your friend Tom is right. HHH doesn't use steroids, and he would have dropped the title to Steiner, or Booker, or Nash, if they all hadn't completely sucked the life out of their feuds with their general suckiness. As for Vince, I thought he was more entertaining on Smackdown last night than he's been in months. He got Brock over as a heel, was HILARIOUS narrating the opening segment, and was even funnier in the skit with Spanky. The reason Vince doesn't go on Raw much (he was there three weeks ago, ) is that they already have two entertaining authority figures on Raw, and they only have one unentertaining authority figure on Smackdown. Oh, and HHH is going to lose the title at Summerslam, job clean to Goldberg at Unforgiven, and he won't win another major title from either brand until at least Wrestlemania. The only difference between Austin's title reign and HHH's is that Austin had a lot of good worthy competitors and HHH hasn't had any.
  8. That's so true. In five years, he's gotten one short feud with Kane, one short feud with Edge, and one short feud with Undertaker. And even despite that, he's gotten over as a heel. If Cena and Hardy are more over as heels than A-Train, (which I'm not convinced of,) then it's because they've had ten times the television time he has. Would the Cena marks out there really be happy if he'd gotten A-Train's latest "push" as Vince's lackey? I think not. As for Spanky, he was perfect for his role as Brock Lesnar's prison bitch, but he wouldn't work out too well as a serious threat to the Undertaker.

    By Survivors Series end

The thing Brock has that could help carry an iron man match is conditioning. He's in fantastic shape and can work a long time before wearing down. The way I see the match going down is that Brock would get all the pinfalls early, while Kurt did nothing but work on the ankle. Brock could get up 4-0 with pure physical dominance before Kurt gets 5 tapouts in the last ten minutes via the ankle lock.

    By Survivors Series end

Raw: Kane They've really committed hard to this Kane push and it's worked for them. Regardless of who wins the title at Summerslam, Kane's gonna win the title at Survivor Series. I say Goldberg wins the title at Summerslam and defends against HHH at Unforgiven before losing to Kane at Survivor Series. Smackdown: Kurt Angle Brock's heel turn is going great and it's pretty obvious he's going to win at Summerslam, but I say that Kurt gets crazy over as a face in the process, and wins the title back in an epic Iron Man match at No Mercy before defending against a new challenger at Survivor Series.

It's not always a damn carry

Bullshit. Angle has a lot of fans because he's the best all-around performer in the WWE, but Benoit has way more marks scattered across the internet. Almost every other word you hear from most smarks is praising Benoit or bashing HHH.

It's not always a damn carry

Yeah, but Angle's a 4-time WWE Champion. Therefore, he can't be the martyr of the internet like Benoit.

The Talent That's Going To Miss Out on SS...

It would be pretty cheap to have the Filthy Animals get another title shot after they just lost twice in a row. I think if they were getting a title shot at Summerslam, they wouldn't have jobbed clean on Smackdown.

It's not always a damn carry

If you were really in a serious all-out fight where you were scared for your well-being, you wouldn't be holding your arm, you'd be trying not to use it to much while you fought as hard as you could and tried not to show weakness.

The Talent That's Going To Miss Out on SS...

Well, seeing as how there are only three matches from Smackdown on the card thus far, obviously at least some of the people from the list will be added. While I like Matt as much as the next guy, I think that he's gonna have to be satisfied with being on brand-exclusive PPVs, as he just isn't a big enough star to justify a spot on a card as loaded as Summerslam. The real question is what will the fourth match from Smackdown be? Will Rey Rey and Kidman get a spot? Will TWGTT get on the show? How about Cena or Big Show. To be honest, I think that with all the Smackdown talent that's not scheduled for Summerslam, putting Gowen/Hardy on the show would be a huge copout.

It's not always a damn carry

God damn it. I had my reply to Syxx almost finished with the quotes and everything and then I hit the back button. Anyway, here's the high points. 1) You criticize Angle for only working in one promotion? Do you think he should go to TNA or Wildside to be truly recognized? 2) You criticize Angle for not being able to work with the cruisers. Well, he obviously can't be a cruiser because he's too big, but he has had some damn good matches with Rey Mysterio. 3) You say Nunzio's better than Angle because he's a shooter. Uh, hello. Kurt Angle won an Olympic gold medal for wrestling. I'm pretty sure he could kick Nunzio's ass. 4) You talk about how the WM main event only got 4 star ratings because of Angle marks. Well, unless Bret Hart is just a huge Angle mark, I'd say that's pretty flawed, giving what he said on the Calgary Sun website the other day. 5) The stuff about trading Crippler Crossfaces and Ankle Locks I actually agree with as I think the Royal Rumble match was vastly overrated, but that's at least as much Benoit's fault as Kurt's.

It's not always a damn carry

It wasn't purely a racism angle. There were tons of ways to read that. It could have been just HHH being a snob and looking down on an ex-con who he feels he is too good for. It's the same thing that made Austin/McMahon work if you think about it. The only reason that angle didn't go over huge is that Booker did a shitty job of selling the anger in it. You are right about the actual match though. HHH sold plenty for Booker throughout the match. They just did a shitty job with the finish. I think it might have even had to do with Booker getting injured during the match. I'm not even saying they changed the finish, but they might have gone to it early and had to relay it to the referee or something.

It's not always a damn carry

You're certainly right on that one. I never watched WCW because it sucked, and getting Japanese tapes would be way too much work for me. However, I'm judging who the best worker is on what they've done in the last year in the WWE. Haas and Benjamin while they may be young, are still above average technical wrestlers. I'm talking more about the Billy Gunns and Big Shows and Hulk Hogans of the world. By the way, I think it's funny that you're complaining about Angle throwing suplexes while praising the Austin/Benoit matches. I swear half of the total match time on those was taken up with Germans.

It's not always a damn carry

Yeah about HHH, I was thinking, and the only real strike against him is pinning Booker 30 seconds after giving him a Pedigree. But if you think about it, Jericho pinned Austin (the Vengeance where he won the undisputed title,) about a minute after a beltshot from Booker T. So if HHH was burying Booker, then by the same token, Jericho must have been burying Austin too.
  20. iggymcfly

It's not always a damn carry

Yes, he does. I got it from watching his matches. Watch him get his legs worked on, then run up the ropes for his suplex. Watch him throw suplex after suplex for no reason,. Angle carried Big Show and Hogan to great matches? When was this? Angle's more versatile than Guerrero? What the shit? Did Angle master the New Japan junior style like Eddie and Benoit? Did Angle become a Lucha Libre master like Eddie? Angle isn't "versatile." He's wrestled ONE style in ONE promotion for three years. Benoit and Guerrero are FAR more versatile. Guerrero can't have a good match with a lesser worker? Explain all those Team Angle matches then. WHAT THE FUCK? Benoit doesn't have great matches?! How much Benoit have you seen? Did you miss all those classics with Austin? Don't you dare say Angle and Guerrero carried Benoit. Benoit hasn't been wrestling for the last two full years, he was out with an injury for most of that time. Look at 2000-2001, he had plenty of great matches. That was a VERY good match.....so I don't think you know what you're talking about. Tell me what match your talking about where Angle gets his legs worked on and no sells it. I don't remember that. As for Big Show and Hogan, I didn't say he carried them to great matches, I said he carried them to good watchable matches. The Hogan match was at KOR and the Big Show match was at Armageddon. Angle's more versatile because he can brawl and work a good fast-paced sports entertainment match. Guerrero has to be in there with an at least above average technical wrestler or somebody who can do a lot of high spots. The Benoit/Austin matches weren't in the last two years, and they weren't as good as the Angle/Austin matches anyway. Oh, and Benoit and Guerrero had a good match at Vengeance, but their match at Armageddon was super boring. There. This really should be two separate threads right now.

It's not always a damn carry

I know nobody believes it, but the problem on Raw was lack of main event heels. It doesn't matter how well HHH puts somebody over if they have to get left off the PPV the next month or thrown against someone like Christian because Jericho and HHH already have matches.

EWR 4.0 Has Officially Been Set Free!

I've got a question for you. If I'm playing on rock hard, and I'm at 62% cult level, how good do my weekly PPVs have to be for my public image to go up? I actually got it to go up for one month, but that seemed to have more to do with hirings than the actual show. It just really pisses me off when I put on a 75% caliber show and my public image drops two points.
  23. I give Dean a big thumbs up here. Undertaker matches are tons of fun, and anyone who disagrees can suck my dick.

It's not always a damn carry

Angle doesn't have spotty selling or shitty psychology. I don't even know where you got that. As for Benoit and Guerrero, Guerrero's very close to Angle, and he does a lot of good stuff, but I don't think he could carry a guy like Big Show or Hogan. Angle's more versatile and he can have good matches, even without a great worker across from him. As for Benoit, he can carry people to good matches, but he has a hard time having really great matches. Except when he was in there with Angle or Guerrero, he hasn't had a truly great match in the last two years. Oh, and when Benoit and Guerrero were together at Armageddon, they put in a pretty crappy match with proves that they aren't as good as they're cracked up to be.

    Cornette Rules it once again

All he said was that he was a liar, and since that's pretty much proven, I don't see how he could be sued for libel. By the way, that was an awesome rant. I'd love to see Keller's face when he reads that.
