Glad to see you guys are doing well now with the back-to-back victories. As for leaving, I think I've decided being a player pretty much anywhere is boring after you own your own team. When my contract runs out with the Calgary Warriors, I might just retire and use the flex points to renew my team. So you probably got a good deal getting the Level 8s or 9s for me. Also, I agree 1000% on the out-of-region team names, it drives me up a wall. In the Eastern European Pro League, we have the Washington Chairmen, the Sheboygan Chaos Theory, the Cincinnatti Tigers, and the New Jersey Devils. Even worse, all of them but New Jersey are 3-0. I don't mind if it's cute like the "American Invaders" (Eastern Europe Pro) or "American Vacationers" (some random team I saw somewhere else), but for the love of god, don't just US cities unless you're in a US league.

I seriously have no idea how you guys keep losing. Shouldn't the South American AAA league be easy? You've definitely got more talent than my Eastern European Pro League team and they're something like 9-2 since I bought the team. It must be a lack of depth. Maybe sign some Level 8 CPUs to replace the Level 4 and 5 CPUs that are still getting time.

By the way, let me just say that "if you don't know, now you know" is one of the stupidest catch-phrases ever. I don't even get what it's supposed to mean. I've always been a fan of Christian and I've been trying to like him lately, but he's really nowhere near as good as a face as he is as a heel.
-
Oh god, you people are so negative. What does it take to satisfy you? If I said two months ago that Joe and Angle would have a completely serious competitive build, would have an excellent 25 minute main event on PPV where Joe won cleanly, and that people would still be complaining, you all would have said that I was crazy.
-
Well, there was a patch where I wasn't watching wrestling at all. I certainly don't claim to have seen every match worth seeing over that time period. Just saying it's the best match I personally have seen since '03. ****1/2 on my 5-star scale.
-
As much as don't like Joe, and as annoyed as I was about the finish being telegraphed, that was still an INCREDIBLE, INCREDIBLE match. Probably the best match I've seen in 5 years. Tremendous main event.
-
After the 7th face win, I'm starting to get a little hope back. If Angle beats Joe somehow, I would mark out huge. (Yes, I'm watching now.)
-
Bah, wish I was watching this show. Can't get PPV here though.

Well, Nash did act all hurt the first Impact after Final Destination when Christian tried to make Rhino his partner instead of him. And then he gave the promo tonight where he was saying he was all about the money. If anyone was going to turn it would be him. At this point, that definitely seems pointless though. The match is for nothing but bragging rights, Nash can't join Team Angle since he just broke with Angle a month or two ago, and Nash joining with Team 3-D or with Storm would just be ridiculous. Also, it would be like the 10th time someone's turned on Christian this year. I think the faces just come out with a clean victory. On Lockdown, the one thing that really turns me off is how they've telegraphed the result of the championship match. This should be the epic "clash of the titans" that can go either way, but with the retirement stip in effect, it's super obvious that Joe's going over. They could have even done the contract signing angle, had Joe say "he wasn't sure if he'd re-sign if he lost to Angle" and then gone from there or maybe added a stip that said "Joe would never get another title shot while Angle was champion". But this "never wrestle again in any company unless he pins Angle or makes him submit" thing is just way too obvious. It boggles my mind that people still think there's a decent chance Angle goes over. I have to say, I'm actually kinda looking forward to Sacrifice already. Steiner/Joe and Angle/AJ should both be great matches.

Whoo hoo! Despite 5 straight losses, it looks like we backed into the playoffs. Losses by the Caracas Crackers and the Carolina Wildcats were enough to get the job done. Would be nice if we could finally break our losing streak when it matters most.
-
Well, while I haven't done much to help Smartmarks FC to get to the playoffs, my Georgia Tec-9s, (the team I own) just came up with a huge win today over the previously 13-1 Warsaw Legioniers, 20-16. We've now beaten the top two teams in the league in the last two weeks and are 6-1 since I took over as owner.
-
They always do that unless the QB has really good stamina. The QB on my other team was up to Level 8 last game and he still misses a few plays toward the end, but he recovers fast enough that they don't leave him out for long stretches. Super disappointing loss though. To have a 24-6 lead with 5:00 in the 3rd and a 27-20 lead with less than 2:00 in the game and still lose is rough. We outplayed them too. They just got their yardage in chunks and got TDs out of it instead of FGs.

Well, first things first. I basically leveled up twice tonight. Whoo hoo! Not only did I get my 5 skill points for reaching Level 8, but I also got 4 more bonus skill points for being able to upgrade my equipment. God knows how many pancakes I might get this game. As for the GMing, I made a couple changes there too. Dropped our blitz frequency from 40% to 1%. (If the other team has a decent O-line, you're not getting sacks in this game ever.) Cut down on the longer throws too, and am about to do some scouting to see what we want to do on defense.
-
LOL @ the subtitle of the thread. I'm a little distracted with the Mavs right now and my hopes aren't very high anyway, but it's definitely nice to see how well the Orioles are starting.
-
So exactly what privileges do I have as GM? I noticed that Smartmarks FC was listed as a GM'd team when I went to my home page, but when I went to the team page, I couldn't see the tactics or change the depth chart or anything.
-
I think the 0/60 thing sounds like a bad idea. At a lot of positions our starters are worse than our reserves; no point running them into the ground. I have my own team, (the Georgia Tec-9s), and I use 45/70 for the subs. Also, I tend to make the vast majority of the throws short, and focus most of the defense on defending short too since most QBs at this level (especially ours) have difficulty with the deep ball.
-
Well, this was fantastic for my pancake stats (7 this game!), but probably not the best strategy overall. You really want to put me on the strongest defender, as I'll be able to block pretty much anyone, but some of the other linemen need some help, and should probably get as easy of an assignment as possible. Also, I don't think 50+ pancakes is all that ridiculous. I've got 20 and I've only played in 7 games. If you figure that the players who've been around the whole season not only had more games to play in, but more games to get their stats boosted and more games when the opposition was weak, I think it's perfectly reasonable.

Another pretty entertaining outing from TNA. I like the stuff they're doing with all the low-to-mid card matches and I like them setting up Steiner/Joe ahead of time too. The Morgan turning on Team Tomko thing wasn't the most original storyline ever, but it was still fun and it was a pretty awesome moment when Morgan threw the bat to Sting.

News that's as positive as it is shocking

I don't care what the ratings or the buyrates are. I just know that I enjoy the current TNA product much more than the WWE and much more than when they first got their TV contract and Monty Brown was their big star. Whoever's responsible, I salute them. One thing I really really like about their booking is that it's unpredictable. If I turn on Raw or Smackdown and I've been paying any attention to the product at all, I'll be able to tell the winner ahead of time with 99% certainty in maybe 6 out of 7 matches. On TNA, they'll occasionally telegraph finishes, but most of the matches can legitimately go either way. They're not afraid to do a title change the night after a PPV, they're not afraid to put a midcard guy over a star, and they don't just randomly put stars against jobbers to fill space. I guess that doesn't matter if you read spoilers, but it does a lot for my enjoyment of the show. -
It looks tremendous. I say add it ASAP.

I figured the you're the highest level of the LB core and the MLB is usually the defensive captain. I don't know if that really translates in GLB, but that's why you got moved. By the way, IAN GORDON'S HOUSE OF PANCAKES! SEEEEEEERVED~! 4 pancakes from the beast and a piddly 1 from me. Funny that I'm in the league's top ten for the season with only 2 while iggy dominates with double digit 'cakes. Offense is still a bit underleveled, but the running game is getting it done for the time being. Yeah, I have to say I was pretty excited about the 4 pancakes in one game. Whoever controls Vlad Tanker, you're welcome for the 6 ypc. While I know Ced's handled most of my bragging for me, I do want to say that the team with the most pancakes in our league is the Belo Horizonte Miners and they have 13 for the season compared to my 10. I think the key on this game is putting as many of your attribute points as possible into the key skills (blocking and strength for O-linemen), building up the lesser ones with training a little bit, and leaving the special skills pretty much alone until your player develops more. Oh, and thank god we got the name change done. If I had to see Goiana Vultures on my front page one more time I was gonna puke. Smartmarks FC is sooo much better.

I've been on here forever and even I don't remember an orange front page. Pretty sure I've been around longer than my reg date too; I think it was reset in one of the forum crashes. I guess that doesn't make sense with other people having earlier reg dates than me, but I swear I was on here telling everyone that HHH wasn't holding people down during his first World Heavyweight Title reign in 2002. At the very least, I was part of the MOTY argument in December as the only one campaigning for HHH/HBK from Summerslam over the Smackdown Six stuff.

The OAO LIVE Impact thread (3.27.08)
iggymcfly replied to The Ghost of bps21's topic in TNA Wrestling
The NCAA Sweet 16 match ups were on before and after Impact started. I'm guessing that probably had something to do with it. I know I didn't get around to watching Impact! until Sunday for that very reason. Thought it was a very good show though. The 8-man star filled tag is something that TNA hasn't done for a while and it felt fresh and exciting. They did a great job of building up Sting's return too with the teases before he actually came out. He feels like more of a star to me now than he did around BFG when he was feuding with Kurt for the title. Wouldn't surprise me at all if they're building to a face/face match between Sting and Joe for the title the month after Lockdown and if they had AJ/Kurt on the same card, I think they could do a very good buyrate. Actually, in general I thought that TNA did a great job this week getting the faces over which is something they never ever do. LAX looked absolutely tremendous against Steiner and Petey and Samoa Joe came off better via the taped interview than he usually does. -
Smart trade picking up Ian Gordon. I took the Mambas D-line to the International House of PANCAKES, getting 3 pancakes myself while the rest of the team combined for.... zero. The team's looking real good though. I think we could easily win the South American AAA league. Edit: Added brag. Just looked and realized that I'm leading the South American AAA league in pancakes with 5 after only 3 total games.

Hey Ced, any chance I could get a contract renegotiation? I signed my current deal with a computer team when I was Level 1 for $327/day, but I'm currently Level 5 and at Level 5, even normal training costs $375/day. I think a raise is definitely in order.
