Is it really? It's just an identifying characteristic. It's no different than the Hollywood Blondes or Amazing Red. Besides, "black thunder" is just a cool sounding name anyway. It's not like they're just being identified that way; it's just a name for a grouping of directionless faces.

I'm the bad guy, not Hawk. I thought having some hot matches with Hassan and Batista that included a quick title switch would be more fun than watching Batista and JBL have the worst main event feud in the history of wrestling. I didn't say anything about Shelton Benjamin not being good with the IC belt, but I did briefly mention tagging him with Viscera to flesh out the WM card. And yes, the name "Black Thunder" was used for their tag team. Although I bet if they had gone that route, it would have been a lot better for his career than this "momma's boy" storyline, and would have been less offensive as well.

The best comparison...
iggymcfly commented on RavishingRickRudo's blog entry in I post on TSM and all I got was this lousy blog.
Great blog entry. It definitely seems like you're "getting it" in a way that maybe you didn't before. It's funny that the first reply was about HBK/HHH from SS 2002, because the first thing I thought of when I read the initial post was "that's why HBK/HHH was the best match of the last ten years". Honestly, I bet less than 10% of the audience thought "that's unrealistic" when HBK kipped up after no-selling the back. They were all thinking "fuck yeah, HBK's alive and well and he's going to kick HHH's ass". The story had thoroughly engrossed the fans to the point that they were ready to believe pretty much anything put in front of them, and since they were believing it all anyway, then a superhuman comeback makes for a better story than a doggedly determined fight from someone who's unable to move. I'm more "smart" than most, and it didn't really bother me a bit at the time. Furthermore, the marks at the bar were eating it up and responding in a way that I really haven't seen at any other time. Even though they knew it was fake, they were genuinely worried about HBK at the beginning, and they were yelling and screaming for him at the end in a way that they'd have been too self-conscious to do for 99% of the PPV matches put on by the WWF/WWE. -
To all the HHHaters, I just want to ask one question. What direction is the show going? As in, what long-term effect would make the show entertaining and watchable again? I think the answer is RVD gets a climactic title win at ONS, leading into a solid face title reign. So in the interim, the goal is to lead as strong of a heel as possible into the show so that we believe that he might actually beat RVD. Since VKM has apparently decided that Cena will be a face until the end of time because he sells merchandise, that leaves us with HHH as the best option as heel champion. If Edge faces RVD at ONS, no one on earth will give Edge a shot. It will be obvious and as such, a little anticlimactic. But if HHH destroys Cena and Edge, then there will be that little nagging doubt. What if HHH does beat RVD? And as such, we'll have an exciting beginning to RVD's reign giving him the best chance possible to succeed as top face. In the best of all worlds, HHH and Cena would have pulled a double turn at Mania, and Cena would have cheated to win there before taking out Edge and HHH with the chain at Backlash, leading to a truly intriguing matchup at ONS, with "my favourite wrestler of all time John Cena" that hasn't lost even close to clean in two years facing "fan favorite that never quite got the job done" RVD. However, since Vince is too stubborn to allow that, I think the objective should be to build up HHH as strongly as possible. I mean the guy hasn't won a real feud in years. If we're really going to believe he's going to beat RVD, he needs some wins.

Two words. Jack. Bauer.

C'mon, how could anyone not mark for the Pedigree there. Nothing like seeing Cena do his stupid dancing jivey bullshit only to have HHH say, "I'm tired of fucking around now, I'm gonna Pedigree you're ass." If HHH pinned Cena clean with the Pedigree for the title next week, that would be A-OK with me.
-
As opposed to cheering for the wrestler that Vince has decreed to be the "good guy" regardless of whether you find him entertaining?
-
What's the point of making the fans the bad guys here? If they'd rather see Angle with the title than Rey, then why shouldn't they cheer for him? If they'd rather see Mickie with the title than Trish, then why shouldn't they cheer for her? I really don't get the impression that the fans were trying to "look cool on TV" or anything like that. I think they just cheered for the people they wanted to see win. What the fuck's wrong with that? Are you really drinking the mark kool-aid that hard that you're going to get mad at the fans because they cheered for the "baddies"?

College Hoops: National Semifinals and The Championship Game
iggymcfly replied to SilverPhoenix's topic in Sports
No suicide watch. I've still got my poker, so it's not that bad. I guess it was only fitting for the UCLA/LSU game to be such a total burial since I got raped so bad with my bets all through the tournament. Anyway, I lost $700 on the LSU game, leaving me at a total of -$1550 for the tournament. I'm too demoralized to bet the championship, but if I did, I'd take Florida, sooo............. bet the farm on UCLA. -
Looks great in the commercial. Tastes like a pound of tortilla filled with lettuce. The Caesar taste is indistinguishable. Very strong recommendation to avoid.

OK, I am PUMPED for this game. I don't want to say anything cocky to jinx LSU, but I really don't see how UCLA's going to score the ball against Big Baby and Tyrus Thomas. -

Geaux Iggy's Money! ...........uh, I mean Tigers. This is the most I've ever bet on a single sporting event before. -
Edit: This was supposed to be a poll, with the only choice being Adam Morrison, but I fucked it up. Anyway, I really can't stand that prick. Between his stupid face and his stupid expressions, I just want to beat the living fuck out of him with a 2x4.

Atheists identified as America’s most distrusted minority
iggymcfly replied to Dimensions's topic in General Chat
Wow, as a white heterosexual male, who knew I'd end up as America's most hated minority? -
Florida better not win, because if they do, it's going to be a terribly boring final either way. LSU/Florida would be the worst as no one wants to see an all SEC final, although UCLA/Florida would probably be even more boring for me, as I at least enjoy watching LSU as opposed to UCLA who's like watching paint dry. I think that George Mason has to get in for it to be an interesting final. Either them against the only other team to ever make the Final Four as an 11 seed (LSU), or the best basketball program in the country historically (UCLA) would be a good story.
-
Well, to be fair, everyone gets five tries on the ESPN contest.
-
Nah, he won't have the balls to post in the sports folder for a while anyway. Let's let him wallow in his misery.
-
Well, I was thinking of Lunardi's projections on ESPN, since those were the only ones I looked at. He had Missouri State in and George Mason out until Selection Sunday. I think he actually left Missouri State in, but switched George Mason and Florida State at the last second, making Florida State the last team out and George Mason the last team in.
-
I know that George Mason wasn't the last team in or anything. However, there were lots of projections that had Florida State, Cincinnatti, and Missouri State in, and Air Force, Utah State, and George Mason out. The point is that if the "mid-majors suck" crowd got their way, the Patriots would be in there with Hofstra with no chance at the title.
-
Yeah, honestly. I mean we were this close to having George Mason playing in the NIT so that Cincinnatti could get their tourney berth.
-
And it's over! MASON WINS! GEORGE MASON IS IN THE FINAL FOUR! I really do love this tounament.
-
I don't think UConn's got anything left. They came back against Albany, they came back against UW, tthey came back against Mason (once), and I think they're spent now.
-
This is for all the bandwagon "Aw, UConn's gonna win in OT" fuckers. C'mon. nobody expected George Mason to do anything all year, and they made it this far; how are you going to give up on them when OT starts.
-
Oh my god! UConn just won't die!
-
WOW, Just wow. That's all I have to say about this game.
