    LOST

I say get rid of Sun. We know everything we'd possibly need to know about her story, and her character arc is pretty much complete. Besides, if I have to sit through another one of her and Jin's boring flashbacks, I might off myself.

    World Series-Astros vs White Sox

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that they just don't think a dome looks as good on TV, and they want FOX to be able to pan to the night sky. No need for crazy conspiracy theories.

    New BCS Standings

Well, if you're talking about the Rose Bowl, then I can see it, but it would take a miracle for Texas to lose in the rest of the regular season. They've already played the three next-best teams in the conference and they beat them all handily. Their toughest test over the rest of the season will probably be against Missouri or Colorado for the Big XII Championship in a rematch of a game they already won. Texas A&M isn't even close to being good enough to test the Longhorns right now. In fact, I'd be surprised if anyone comes within two TDs of Texas before the Rose Bowl.

    New BCS Standings

Actually, Oregon lost both their starting QB and their second-string QB for the season last week, so I'm not so sure they're likely to win out. As for Cal and Fresno State, they may be ranked in the polls, but Cal's in the Top 25 in only one computer ranking, and Fresno State's not in the BCS Top 25 at all, so I can't even see if they're ranked in the computer rankings or not. The late-season game against UCLA should be enough to keep USC ahead of VT, but it's far from a given that they'll regain first from Texas.

    New BCS Standings

Not that it's likely to happen or anything, but can you imagine the media firestorm that would come about if Va. Tech ended up passing USC for #2 in the BCS rankings. If the undefeated defending champs got left out of the "title game", it might be about the only thing that could possibly steer college football toward a playoff. The Hokies still have Boston College, Miami, and likely Florida State on the schedule, so they have plenty of room to improve on their computer ranking. Meanwhile, Alabama also has plenty of room to improve with games against LSU, Auburn, and (likely) Georgia. If Virginia Tech could improve to #1 in all of the computer rankings, and Alabama could move up to #3 in most of them, it actually might be enough to move USC out. Of course, VT would have to improve a little bit in the polls, steal a few votes away from Texas and USC here and there, but it's not impossible. I'd still say there's at least a 95% chance that USC and Texas will end up meeting in the championship game if they win out, but just the possibility that the champs could get left out kind of keeps things interesting.
  7. Not too much happening this week with no one losing in the Top 14, and outside of NW, no one picking up a really big win. Anyway, here are the rankings. (Previous week's rank in parenthesis.) 1. World Series-Astros vs White Sox

The ball clearly hit the glove of the catcher. This idea that it hit the bat is a creation of FOX to try to increase ratings for a World Series that the White Sox are dominating. Honestly, you'd have to be retarded or something to think it hit the bat after watching the replay. It was clear as day. The bat came into the screen a full half-second behind the ball hitting the glove and dropping to the ground.

    World Series-Astros vs White Sox

Yeah, I also thought he was out live, but watching the replay, the ump made the right call. God damn it, the White Sox need to pick it the fuck up.

    World Series-Astros vs White Sox

By the way, I'm already sick of the announcers trying to act like the Astros got screwed there. Sure Dye didn't get by the pitch, but it didn't hit his bat either. It just hit the catcher's glove, and it was inside for ball four. If they try to play this off as controversy(!) for Game 1 instead of Paul Konerko coming off with a huge clutch GRAND SLAM to give the White Sox the win, I am going to be one pissed off mother fucker.

    World Series-Astros vs White Sox

I'm not into AIM chats, but I just want to point out that the second half of the inning there was what baseball's all about. None of this try to get somebody on base before you bash the ball over the fence. The Sox got multiple hits, ran the bases, and scored two runs. If everybody played that way, I'd watch a hell of a lot more baseball.

Iggy's Week 7 College Football Rankings

Well, UCLA is 0-0 against teams currently ranked in my Top 25, so I'm not too anxious to jack their ranking to the skies just yet. Combine that with the fact that they were a couple late TDs away from giving the two Washington schools their only Pac Ten wins, and I think that #10 suits them just fine. I don't doubt they'll be 10-0 when they play USC, but that doesn't necessarily mean they're better than LSU or Ohio State right now.

This Week in College Football 10/20 - 10/22

Wait a minute are you honestly complaining about being the second winningest school in the country over the last five years, going to three national championship games, and winning a title? Part of me still thinks there's sarcasm in there, but I'm not quite so sure now.

Yeah. I really hope that was sarcasm on Dama's part. I think it was, but i just can't quite be sure.

This Week in College Football 10/20 - 10/22

Oh, come on. Louisville fucked around with one bad team and got killed, and then they lost a close road game against a Top 20 team. You don't have it that bad. Let me give you a recap of the Cougars' Pac Ten schedule thus far. at Oregon State: The Cougars jump out to a 30-13 lead and still lead 30-16 with 3:00 in the third quarter. However, Alex Brink throws four INTs in the second half, and the Cougs lose 44-33. vs. Stanford: With the Cardinal coming off a loss to I-AA UC Davis, the Cougars find themselves in a close game throughout, and are around midfield with a chance to tie or take the lead. However, Alex Brink throws another INT, and the Cougs lose. vs. UCLA: This time, the Cougars lead by 17 in the fourth quarter. Sure win right? No. UCLA outscores WSU 17-0 in the fourth quarter, and then wins it 44-41 in OT. This time, Brink actually doesn't throw a big pick (!), but he is completely ineffectual in the second half and doesn't move the ball whatsoever. at Cal: The Bears got out to an early lead after returning back to back Alex Brink interceptions for TDs, but the Cougs actually came back and took a 10 point lead with 9:52 to go. Of course, a lead like that's far from safe for WSU, and they let Cal score two late TDs to win it, 42-38. Now, you might notice a common thread here. Alex Brink sucks donkey balls, and consistently chokes in big-game situations. Well, so what you might say. Lots of teams have shitty QBs. Well, here's where the unrealized potential part comes in. We have Josh Swogger, who was the starter going into 2004 and played extremely well before sustaining multiple injuries and trying to play through them anyway. He got the job done in the clutch, and didn't throw anywhere near as many crucial picks as Brink. However, apparently he didn't look as good as Brink in spring practice, so we're stuck with him only attempting 15 passes on the year, and watching on the sideline as Brink throws away game after game. Honestly, I know it seems ridiculous given our record, but if Bill Doba was about 5% less dumb, and Swogger was the starting QB, the Cougs could easily be 7-0, and ranked something like #7 in the country going into a hugely hyped showdown with #1 USC. Even if we'd just won a couple of those games we'd be 5-2, and a given to get to a bowl game. As it is, we're probably looking at a 3-8 season, and we're stuck praying for Doba to get fired.

This Week in College Football 10/20 - 10/22

Well, I passed out, so I didn't have to actually see it, but for the record, I just want to point out once again that the Cougars are the worst team in the country to cheer for. This time, they led Cal by 10 with 5:30 minutes to go before giving up two late TDs. The worst part is that Cal is probably the second least clutch team in the Pac-Ten, but when it came right down to it, we Couged it once again.

Bored's College Football Pick 'Em - Week 8

WHOO! WHOO! WHOO! The #1 Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets! How sweet it is. Seriously, I knew I was in for a pretty big jump considering how well I did on my picks, but I really didn't expect to go from #10 all the way to #1. I'm feeling great right now.

Bored's College Football Pick 'Em - Week 8

OK, I'm 12-1 in the contest this week, (with Auburn and LSU still to go), with the Michigan State/Northwestern game being my only loss. If I don't move back into the Top 5 this week, there's got to be something weird with the rankings. Even better, I'm 9-2 on my college football bets this week for a net of $350, only losing Sun Belt games that I had no business betting on (Troy State/FIU and North Texas/La. Tech. To quote Billy Madison, I AM THE SMARTEST MAN ALIVE!

Huge play by the Tide defense. To be honest, I think a TD would have ended it the way the Alabama offense has been playing today.

Wow, looks like my 9-7 prediction might have been too high-scoring for Alabama and Tennessee. They're still scoreless with 6:00 left in the third.

Knocked off number 1 baby! Despite my little setback last week, I'm still coming for the top spot. I guarantee that at the end of the season, I'll be the Bored Bowl champion.
