RRR, you are dreaming if you think that Benoit is going to be main eventing anytime soon. He's going to be curtain jerking at Summerslam if he's even on the card, and after that he'll just move back to the upper midcard. Honestly, I can't foresee Benoit in another main event until after Lesnar gets the belt and even that would just be as the odd man out in a triple threat match or something.

6. He relies less on cheap heat than JBL does.

Actually, given that Taker is the #1 contender right now, I'd think they'd just give him a title match against Batista on Smackdown either this week or next week. Then Orton can screw him out of the title to restart their feud, while Batista takes on JBL. I do think Batista/Orton is something they're trying to get to for No Mercy, but I just don't think Smackdown can survive another month of Batista vs. JBL.

As far as the undercard goes, they'll probably do something like have Benoit and Booker face the Mexicools in the opener, and then leave the rest of them off the card. Maybe if we're lucky we'll get to see Christian get squashed by Brock Lesnar. Still though, the title match is the gaping hole.

So, did the Orioles hitters get drugged or something? I mean how do you go from having the best offense in the American League to scoring 21 runs in 8 games and getting swept by the DEVIL RAYS!?!

What's weird about a duck fighting a beaver? They're both little animals that spend a lot of time in the water. At least for an Ohio State/Iowa game, you'd have to figure out what the hell the mascots are.

I actually do miss HHH. Having just teased a feud with Flair though, I don't see how they could possibly try to do it again right now. Right now, the best use for HHH would probably be to feud with Kurt Angle in a feud that would turn Angle face. The fact is that there just aren't enough viable faces on Raw right now, and Angle/Michaels III would be a good title feud around Survivor Series time after HBK beats Cena at Unforgiven.

This is a message sent to "Hassan's" MySpace profile; I found it amusing. And it's from a real Arab girl's profile too. People who can't distinguish fiction from reality amuse me.

I like the three-way idea. The thing that ws really bothering me about the whole situation was that Orton would be left out in the cold, and now that can be remedied. The best way to set things up would be for Teddy Long to come out next Thursday, and announce that Taker will get his title shot the following week on Smackdown. Then after about 6 or 7 minutes of high speed action, Orton can come out, give RKOs to both men, and set up a three-way match for Summerslam.

Yeah, I was thinking agent as well. Entourage has kind of made being an agent cool again.

A comment Foley made in his bonus chapter

So, all through the Rock and Sock stuff, they hated each other? That seems a little....uh....strange. -
Wow, and I thought that the "Who ran over Austin angle" was bad. This is reason 83.a. that I'm glad I didn't watch WCW back then.

Not a chance in hell. However, if they bought back Mordecai...... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Oh shit, I totally forgot that Mordecai was Fertig. For some reason, I was thinking that it was actually Eugene all along.

Who will Vince have his kids "take care of" ?
iggymcfly replied to UZI Suicide's topic in The WWE Folder
I think people are looking at the wrong guys on this question. People like Taker who make $1 million a year will never need to be "taken care of." I think guys like Jim Ross, Bob Holly, William Regal, Val Venis, and Brooklyn Brawler would be more in line for this type of treatment. -
I'm going to go way out on a limb here and say it's a wrestling federation.

Cena isn't even in the same zip code as The Rock was for crowd reaction. Watch any Raw or Smackdown from 2000 or 2001, (shit even 1998 before Survivor Series) and you'll see what I mean. The fans will give a big pop for his entrance and for any funny lines, but he's nowhere near the level of those top three. He did anything but fail. In 2001, he came out of nowhere and reached a level of overness that no new faces have reached since, (even Cena). He didn't just get pops for his entrance, he'd get fans chanting his name when he wasn't on screen. i.e. Linda: I've come to a decision about the title situation at No Mercy (Fans): RVD! RVD! RVD! Vince: I have decided to bring back someone from the Alliance. (Fans): RVD! RVD! RVD! If the WWE decided to never pull the trigger on him and the fans lost interest after a couple years, that's not really RVD's fault. Bullshit. He stumbled over some crappy pre-written lines to the point that the fans almost turned on him and sided with Jericho. I think Road Dogg has showed more depth than Shelton did. Also, it might be a reach asking you to remember this, but in December 2001, they teased a RVD/Jericho program for the title. It started with a title match on Smackdown that went to a no-contest when Flair came out and inexplicably decided the match was over and that he should give Jericho a figure four. Anyway, the next Raw, RVD came out and cut a tremendous passionate promo that was better than anything I've heard from not just Shelton, but Cena as well. I was sure it was going to catapult him to a title reign, but they ended up bailing on the feud and going with Rock/Jericho instead. Anyway, the point is that we've seen great things from RVD and we know he can produce in all the facets necessary to be a World Champ. Looking at Shelton, there are some gaping holes that just keep him from being main event caliber. First off, he can't cut a promo at the minimum level of competency provided by someone like Chris Benoit. Second, he has no character whatsoever. Third, his ring skills, while adequate, are far too spotty and inconsistent to make up for the other two. Given that, and the lack of viable alternatives, it really makes sense to give RVD a push to the main event in time to win the World Title at WM 22.
-
What's special about RVD is that he's the only remotely over face on the Raw brand that isn't: a) 50 years old and unable to move b) using an embarrassingly bad "gangsta" gimmick and terrible in the ring c) involved in a "shoot" feud that will take all his heat away as soon as it ends Basically, the fans are still into him, and if they just do a simple build with him, (have him wrestler regularly on Raw and win all his feuds for the next six or seven months,) then we have an extremely viable face World Champion. What's complicated about that?

The Guy You Like Who Actually Sucks
iggymcfly replied to Team Angle Pusher's topic in General Wrestling
I was a huge mark for Billy Gunn back in the Mr. Ass days, and to be honest, I liked him in the Chuck and Billy team as well. Nowadays though, there's just not enough entertaining crap in the midcard. If I was pressed, I guess I might go with Simon Dean. His skits can be pretty funny sometimes. -
C'mon, it was a good article on the WWE from ESPN; what more do you want? Page 2 does some stuff that's not directly related to sports, and they've given WWE positive feedback before too, (see WM X-8), so all the little WWE marks that can't handle it need to get off of Vince's dick.

Where the hell did you dredge this guy up from? He hasn't posted in two years. Seriously, Rant, you must be the most bored person alive.

Hey, I just saw this thread for the first time today, and I have to say that what I've seen so far has been really interesting. However, I was wondering, could you just keep going in chronological order from the Rob Black perspective? I mean the stuff with the precursor feds doesn't seem like it would fit that well, and in including it, you might be biting off more than you can chew. Since a lot of what made XPW interesting was the crazy stuff that Black did, it might be more interesting to just keep going from that perspective and get into the actual XPW stuff faster. Even if you cut down that stuff to one update, it might be more effective. Still though, it's your baby and you should do it however you want. It's an excellent read either way, and I'll have to make a note to myself to check back in two or three years and see how it all turns out.

As soon as I saw that Hardy/Kane vs. Edge/Snitsky match listed, I knew this card was bullshit. I mean think about it, the whole storyline is basically that Kane's a goofy bastard who never really had anything to do with Lita and that Edge stole her away from Matt. So if Matt's going to have a "real," "shoot," match with Edge, then what the fuck are the two most ridiculous characters on Raw going to be doing tagging in that match? What's going to happen is that we'll see Matt and Edge in either an unsanctioned street fight (right idea) or a "confrontation" like DDP and Taker had at KOR that one time (wrong idea).

I'm pretty sure you answered the question from the first part of your post in the second part of your post.

Well, it took a short week and a matchup against the worst team in the league, but I got my first series win since week 4, and it catapulted me up to 13th! Could this be the start of a miracle comeback that helps Juiced Up sneak into the sixth playoff spot? Probably not, but stranger things have happened.

Actually, the way Shawn's talking, he needs to superkick him during the Hulk up. That's pretty much the only thing that's "never been done" to Hogan, and the one way to "kill the myth" once and for all.
