Small correction that his wife was first-degree but the baby was second. Still no matter though, he's getting the death penalty I'm sure.

    Smackdown Results *SPOILERS*

Well, I was at Smackdown tonight, and here are some notes. From the Teddy/Eddie segment it seemed like they're trying to build the partner to be Cena. I'm not sure what his movie schedule is (I haven't been following Smackdown for months, literally) but that's the vibe I got from it. Also Josh Matthews did get in a few spots such as a very smooth looking cross body off the top but was pretty much manhandled by Orlando Jordan and JBL the rest of the time he was involved. I think the Spinaroonies were for the live crowd only. The Basham angle from Velocity was a complete flop, who knew? Although I was surprised at one thing -- that the Bashams were still on the roster. Why aren't they at least on Smackdown somewhat involved in the barren tag division that is ridden with teams that are just mixed and matched (Kenzo/Rene, RVD/Rey)? After Torrie laid the challenge out to the TE contestants, she walked down the row of them and stared them down. Then she and the contestants began to leave, but they had to be called back to do a re-tape of the staredown. That was the only re-tape of the night. The Dudleyz were in the ring for a long long time after Big Show destroyed them, and the refs threw up about a dozen Xes of doom. I'm not sure if that's gonna be on TV or not but if it isn't, I couldn't tell but it looked as if Bubba was legitimately hurt. It may have been for the cameras though.

    Astros/Cardinals NLCS thread

For Cards it will either be: Woody Williams Matt Morris Jeff Suppan Jason Marquis or Williams, Marquis, Suppan or Morris. And of course there are rumors that they're going to call up Chris Carpenter.

    Astros/Cardinals NLCS thread

Both bullpens were less than mediocre tonight. Big win for the Cardinals, especially coming from behind to take a huge lead. This might put a damper on Houston's hot streak.

    Astros/Cardinals NLCS thread

I'll kick off the discussion for tonight's festivities by saying how I just landed tickets to Game 2. So, what are the predictions for everyone tonight? Brandon Backe had 2 quality starts against the Cardinals watered down lineup after they clinched the Central. I think he's in for a rude awakening tonight.

    Cardinals/Dodgers NLDS Thread

Even if that ridiculous theory is true, all the Cubs had to do was not blow their games in the late innings. Nah.

    Cardinals/Dodgers NLDS Thread

Nobody threw any games. LaRussa didn't play the full lineup after they clinched. everyone would all sit one game (not the same one) per series. Plus Rolen went down with an injury. So rather than the one you're seeing now, it looked more like this on a day-to-day basis: Womack 2B Taguchi LF Pujols 1B Edmonds CF Mabry 3B Cedeno RF Luna SS Molina C Just throw Renteria, Matheny, Walker, etc. in every other day and swap some people out and you had your watered-down Cardinals. Oh and don't forget the random bullpen starts for Carpenter and Morris. Still a decent lineup but definitely candidates to get swept by the streaking Houston.

    Cardinals/Dodgers NLDS Thread

Morris battled and pitched a decent game. He deserved better. Odalis Perez for the Dodgers tomorrow. Add that to the fact that Jeff Suppan was 10-1 on the road this year and that means there will be no game 5.

What are the lyrics to Test's Vol. 4 theme?

Those can't be the real lyrics. It doesn't even make any sense. I just listened to it on my copy of Volume 4 and it doesn't really sound anything like it. They can't really be clarified, you'd have to go straight to the source if you wanted to know.

    The Gene Snitsky love

I agree, the Bush comment was off the beaten path, he at least has somewhat of an argument relative to the folder, regardless of how unnecessary it was to make the argument. This is the WWE folder not a political forum.

No Mercy PPV.. Looks Good/Bad?.. Discuss It Here.

As for the topic of the thread...I won't be ordering it. Smackdown has just become too bland for me. I'm just not interested in seeing main event programs that involve Orlando Jordan and Mark Jindrak, and I don't know how anyone else can be. Jordan's involvement in the Taker/Bradshaw feud at least makes sense though. What does Jindrak even have to do with anything regarding Kurt Angle and Big Show? It's like he just randomly decided to run out and help Angle and Luther. And that whole segment was retarded too, I mean, a tranquilizer gun? Of course it wouldn't have been complete without the Michael Cole statement regarding Big Show's dignity being raped (oh, the irony). And why is Angle scared of Show, he's wrestled him on numerous occasions and defeated him for the WWE title. It doesn't make any sense. As for the Hearse match, well the only time I make it a point to flip to Smackdown is when I know the Undertaker's coming on, because I still enjoy that bit of nostalgia and old-schoolness that he brings to TV, but I don't want to see this debacle at all. For me, JBL has been an enjoyable champion entertainment-wise but it looks like he's gonna drop it. Another match of interest is John Cena vs. Booker T. Hopefully this crap finally ends, this could've been blown off at Summerslam but of course they had to drag it out for 2 more months. Just get Cena out of here and into the WWE title picture already before he loses his steam, but it might even be too late for that. They're gonna blow a huge opportunity to make a ton of money off of him, I mean it's obvious he's really marketable, look how many shirts he's had in what, a year since his popularity has been increasing? I don't really know what else is on the card, because I find myself not paying attention and/or watching Survivor during Smackdown. London and Kidman I remember, I'm actually somewhat intrigued by that story, well at least for the first time Kidman walked out, now it's just redundant. Hopefully it ends here, with a Kidman retirement. That guy is everything Smackdown represents, mundane.

Just got home from WWE in Portland, ME. (Raw)

It's a house show, for gods sake. Yet you paid 50 bucks to sit ringside...the title of this thread was misleading, some people actually do like to know what goes on at house shows

This commentary thing has been bugging me

I agree with the basis of this thread but these last few posts...a commentator is gonna stumble over his words every so often or he might mix up a few terms, it happens to the best of them.

    Larry Walker now a Cardinal

I really hope Marquis gets the #3 spot rather than Morris, but of course no matter how bad he pitches LaRussa is always all over Morris' jock so it doesn't matter. Although Morris steps it up huge in the playoffs whenever the Cardinals get there, so maybe it will work out. As far as the Cubs rotation being better, I don't see how it's so much better. Everyone is having a solid season, like said Morris is shaky but he still has 11 wins. Woody wasn't getting it done at the beginning of the season but his past few starts have been amazing. Of course Carpenter is the forgotten Cardinal that should've made the NL All-Stars and Suppan is quietly having a great season. Prior and Wood have been on the shelf basically the whole year so how can you judge? Zambrano could be a great pitcher if he lost the temper. If I were Dusty Baker I'd rely on Greg Maddux more than anyone else because he's been there and has won more big games than the rest of the staff has years pitching combined. And honestly as far as consistency goes I would rather have Clement out there than Prior or Zambrano.

    Anyone wanna talk poker?

I play on UltimateBet (mostly sit and go tournaments) and I also play whenever my friends have home games. The home games we usually play Hold'em but I've tried to convince the others that we should also start playing pot-limit Omaha and 7-Stud. The reason they usually don't show poker tournaments live is because there are a lot of uninteresting hands that are edited out of the broadcast. Everyone folding to the big blind happens a lot more than it looks like it does on TV, especially during head's up play, one of my friends commented on how it seems like someone has Ace-King or a pocket pair every time, but it's only because they edit out the boring hands. Also, if a hand is being shown live on television it's highly possible for someone to be cheating. I'm sure most of the top poker players wouldn't do that, but still. As far as poker books go, I own T.J. Cloutier's Championship No-Limit and Pot-Limit Hold'em, Phil Hellmuth's Play Poker Like the Pros, and of course Doyle Brunson's Super System. Hellmuth's is not as good of a poker book as it is entertaining, but Cloutier's is brilliant and of course everyone says how great Super System is.

WWE Title At It's Most Worthless State Ever?

I think anyone who compares this to David Arquette is totally missing the point. See, I don't think WCW meant anyone to take the Arquette thing seriously, but we're all supposed to actually believe that John Bradshaw Layfield is a credible champion...good character or not, you can't take this seriously. A character can only go through so many turns and gimmick changes before he becomes simply laughable, JBL and Kane are perfect examples. I'd also like to call bullshit on this leading to "the death of Smackdown" or whatever because nothing is running Smackdown into the ground more than just the overall booking. John Cena is easily the most over guy in the company and they're leaving him linger in the midcard when they truly need to cash in on him now before people grow tired of him. I also truly believe that Eddie Guerrero has done a far better job as champion than Chris Benoit as far as getting over and working with what he's been given. Not to fault Benoit as he has only had 3 real challengers but Guerrero's feud with JBL has been far more entertaining and intriguing than Benoit's skirmishes with HHH, HBK and Kane. The problem with Smackdown is that while they do have Cena, Undertaker, and Guerrero that there is no meat in the middle of the roster, the segments that don't involve those three are merely uninteresting gaps in the show. I think Brock Lesnar's departure should be given the majority of the blame for Smackdown's downward spiral considering the show didn't really begin to suck so bad until after WrestleMania XX, the time where Smackdown would need Lesnar the most, a big name to either enter a feud with the Undertaker or Guerrero since Kurt Angle went down. Losing both Angle and Lesnar at the same time is a really big blow to the roster, and I think the current state of Smackdown proves that.
