Bob, I think the point most people are making about the Ron/Hermione dynamic is that the movies build her up more than him. Hermione is given all of Ron's best lines (the Mudblood explanation, the scene in the Shrieking Shack 'You'll have to kill us to kill Harry!'). As for the third movie and the so-called 'Super-Hermione', that was a side-effect of the story. The books followed a certain pattern of who the featured charactes at the end are- Sorcerer's Stone- The Trio Chamber of Secrets- Harry and Ron PoA- Harry and Hermione Goblet of Fire- Harry Order of the Phoenix- The Trio, Neville, Luna and Ginny HBP- Harry and Dumbledore Deathly Hallows- the Trio, then Harry alone. These patterns translated into the films, and so I never got why people got so upset at Hermione in PoA. Asides from being stressed out, she was exactly like she was in the book.

'Nuff said.

In the Harry Potter Lexicon, they have a drawn picture of her and Seamus, and she is a blond. Just never how I pictured her in my minds eye.

I thought it was quite obvious what happened. Originally when Lilly gave her life to protect Harry, it created the blood protection that initially defeated Voldemort's curse. Harry, though Dumbledor's manipulations, inadvertedly created the same set of co0nditions when he walked into the forest- he didn't defend himself, he didn't try to fight, he merely was willing to give up his life to protect his freinds and family. In doing so, he created a NEW blood protection that not only covered all those he cared about (He tells Tom this during their final showdown, something akin to 'You can't hurt them anymore! You're curses aren't even bin ding to them!"), but also protected himelf as well (Voldemort put's Harry's 'body' under the Cruciatus curse after he believes him to be dead, and Harry wonders that there is no pain at all- the curse isn't binding). So when Voldemort used the Killing Curse at the end when Harry used the Disarming Charm, it wasn't a case of the one curse rebounding the other, it was Voldemort's curse rebounded off of the newly formed blood protection, and Harry's curse merely disarmed Riddle. And since there were no more Horcruxs, Voldemort died, as he would have the first time if he hadn't made the Horcruxs. As for Lavender, I always thought she was Indian, like the Patil twins. Probably wrong about that, though...

I find it kind of funny that, now adays, everybody is saying that Prisoner of Azkaban is their favorite Potter movie. Because when it came out, I remember everybody, and I mean EVERYBODY complaining how it wasn't true to the book, how they left so much out, how Cuaron was a horrible director, etc. I think that now, in hindsight, everybody has realised that the movies just couldn't be exact copies of the books like the first two were, and how the newer movies were going to have more liberties taken with them. In my mind, PoA was always a great film, and remains one of my favorites to this day. And after watching all of the films, I'd say my list looks something like this- -Order of the Phoenix -Prisoner of Azkaban -Goblet of Fire -Sorcerer's Stone -Chamber of Secrets

I loved that, but the scene I liked even more was at the end, when Ron stood up for the Horse Elves and Hermione just dropped everything and snogged him sensless; meanwhile Harry's standing over to the side saying "Hey, Guys? There's a war going on..."

J.K. Rowling gave an interview to the Today show, in which she gave some more insights on what happened during those 19 years. From NBC.com: Link: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/19959323/

It's funny, re-reading the books now that I know how it ends. Can't help but feel a bit sad when Fred shows up

Doby hasn't been in the movies since Chamber of Secrets- they keep cutting him out. Which is a shame, because his death is a powerful thing in the book.
-
At this point, I have to wonder how they will do the Malfoy Manor scene in the movie, since Doby played a pivitol role, and he's been cut from the movies entirely.

And that was just the Weasley's. A few things I forgot to mention before that I liked- 1) Neville's Gran. Not only her escape, but her showing up for the fight. It just so fit the character I have in my head. 2) Kreacher- from when he showed up in the beginning of the book, to when he showed up leading the house elf charge for Harry and Regulus- his character was fully redeemed, and it proved Dumbledore's point about how Sirius should have treated Kreacher with a little respect. 3) Hermione dropping everything to snog Ron after he stands up for the Hourse Elfs. I was laughing for a few minutes after I read that.

Anybody else happen to notice how everybody was throwing around Unforgivables? Harry, McGonagall, Molly...probably more that I'm forgetting at the moment. And that final battle was sick. I was alternating between almost crying and laughing (Come on- Trelawny getting her licks in? Priceless.) My only complaint is that a lot of the smaller characters got harly any time (I think Ginny said more in the epilogue than in the ret of the book, and though Neville was pivitol, he arrived on the scene very late).

Finally saw it tonight, and loved it. The one major complaint (had a bunch of small ones that didn't affect my enjoyment overall) was the lack of lines some of the characters had. Ron, Ginny, even Draco only had a handful of line throughout the whole movie. And what was up with the uber-powerful Ginny? Maybe a little bit of foreshadowing? Guess I'll find out tonight, as I'm off to pick up my copy of Deathly Hallows.

Thank god BSG got some love, and for episodes I liked, too!

Speaking of spoilers... I have to wonder, IF Harry dies in this book (and I don't think he will), will the media jump on the story? I mean will we hear about it on the Today show, or read something in USA Today within a few days of the release?

Was she even capable of taking care of the lawn? I mean my grandparents are pushing 80 and still take care of theirs- is she sickly, or handicapped, or something that would prevent her from taking care of the lawn, or was she just lazy? Outside of that questing, that's just fucking stupid that a cop would beat a woman over this. Kind of reminds me of Florida highway patrollman a few years ago- he had a spotless record, then lost it and beat up a woman who didnt' stop for a few miles. Just a little self restraint is all that's needed.

'Can I get a hug?" This is either fake, or quite simply the most inept criminal ever.

Captain America Batman Silver Surfer Hulk: He took out Black Bolt- not an easy taks. I think that right now Hulk could take out Wolvie with ease. Phoenix Spider-Man Thor Black Panther: Tough one... I'd have ot give the edge to Panterh, though. Wonder Woman vs. Multiple Man vs. Archangel- Multiple Man. Hard to take downa guy who can just make more of himself.

It was the easiest thing to cut, as it served no real purpose in the movies and they don't seem to care about developing Ron's character anyways.

Just remember: Yates is comming back to do The Half-blood Prince as well.

I've downloaded seveal movie files, and when I try to play them on either Media Player Classic or teh new Window's media play, the files play upside-down. I can play them on Divix, but a lot of the time the picture freezes ad the audio starts looping back in on itself. Does anybody know what's causing all this? Also, anybodyknow where I can download the XVid codec? Their website is useless.

I loved Optimus Prime saying 'My bad' when he trahsed Sam's lawn. That whole scene was hillarious, actually.
-
I did, actually. I had a few issues with it, but those were due more to my computer, rather than the player itself. Laptops just weren't meant to run Vista, no matter what they say.

One of the guys I went with was worried that this would be one big commercial for GMC cars. Aside from a couple of brief moments (which I would expect from movies revolving around cars), he was pleasantly suprised. My big complaint was that there wasn't enough Megatron. Hopefully they in the sequal. Easily Bay's best movie in years.
