  1. I voted for the ankle lock because I think it has been used better in matches than the rest of these. Angle and his opponents have used the ankle lock over the years to come up with some pretty good spots and transitions in matches. It also made Hogan tap which is a plus in my book. Second place would be crossface for me.

    When was WCW the best?

I'm glad others are mentioning the completely underrated 2001 period of WCW. The only things not clicking during that time was the top group with Flair, Jarrett, Bagwell, the Steiners, Animal, and whoever else was in there, and Kronic. EVERYTHING else was awesome. I thought the Cruiserweight division had finally gotten back to its former greatness with the emergence of Helms, Moore, a future world champion AJ Styles, and others. And also the newly formed Cruiserweight Tag Team title had a hot little series going with Kidman and Rey vs. Elix and Kid Romeo. I truly believe that had the deal with Bischoff gone through, we were on the verge of another golden era for wrestling. The WWF was going strong and would get better, and WCW looked like it was ready to break out again. I get a little sad everytime I think back to WCW 2001 and what could have been. As for the question, I thought WCW was awesome from late 95 through most of 98.

    SAVED!

Well I think she took your advice before you even gave it. Based on what I've seen and heard, in this movie she plays someone who likes to think she is a good person, but is really a bitch. Guess we'll see.....

TSM TV Show Tournament Round 2

Look, I can understand being upset by the Simpsons decline in recent years, but to let that cancel out like 10 seasons of greatness is insane to me. Especially for a show that was only on the air for 3 seasons. And don't get me wrong, I love Family Guy, but I don't think it deserves to be mentioned in the same book as the Simpsons let alone the same sentence.

    TNA Thread For 4/21

I guess you missed Russo's distraction with climbing up the cage constantly. HHH at WM XX --- THAT was clean. Heck, Shelton over HHH --- THAT was clean. AJ over JJ --- not clean. Well this makes it more than obvious that you are just completely biased against JJ and always will be. To say that HHH getting distracted by Flair and Benoit fighting on the floor and Benjamin rolling him up is clean, and then turn around and say JJ getting distacted by Russo and AJ rolling him up is not clean is just retarded. Period.

    TNA Thread For 4/21

No, he really hasn't. His work has been piddling for years now. He's had no great matches in his life. I wanna speak out on this. I agree completely with Mad Dog on this issue. Jarrett has been one of the more consistent performers in wrestling over the last 6 or so years. When he went back to WCW in 99 he jumped immediately into the role of company MVP. He was having 2 or 3 matches a night on many shows. And they were good matches at that. He was having goos matches with EVERYONE from Benoit to even Konnan. A lot of the big players were out like Hart and Jarrett took the ball and ran with it. During 2000 HHH became a favorite with smarks and rightfully so. He was the obvious MVP of WWF. At some point in 2000 though, JJ's work as WCW's MVP became so impressive to me that he surpassed HHH as the best in wrestling at the time. When WCW ended he didn't get a chance to go to WWE, which I think is a real shame, and disappeared off the national scene for a while. But when TNA came on, he went right back to having good to great matches again. Now I wouldn't put his TNA work up there with his WCW work, but his matches with AJ, Raven, and others have been pretty good. And as for your no great matches comment, that is totally false. I would say the only one for sure is his IC title match with Shawn at IYH 2 which is a 5 star classic. I would say he has at least one more great match, which was a match with Malenko on a PPV during his first WCW run, but that is a little known match. I would also like to say that I think his first WCW run is completely underrated as he had really good matches with the likes of Benoit, Malenko, Jericho, Flair, DDP, and others.

    Brilliant Ric Flair interview

Just about everyone here is bitching at Flair for "sucking Shawn and HHH's dicks," but what about all of you who are turning right around and sucking Foley's? You want a nice pot and kettle situation, there's a good one. Flair > Foley, it's a simple fact. Anyone that trys to argue otherwise is fooling themselves. And on the styles thing, he's right! Foley only does one thing, kill himself. All those matches you people are using to show Foley's great wrestling ability is bullshit. Every single one of those matches is just a big brawl. Are they good? Sure, but they don't exhibit any wrestling skills from Foley. And as for Flair, he has branched out some in his style. For example, while you wouldn't know it looking at it by today's standards, his I Quit match with Funk from the Clash was considered revolutionary and one of the more brutal matches of its time. And the guy who said Flair landed a top rope move in 2000 to beat Jarrett for the title is just dead wrong. Flair beat Jarrett with a small package to win the title. I remember that because in the return match two weeks later, they used the exact same spot for an awesome near fall.

    Ric Flair: Greatest worker, wrestler...

Oh, well that explains it all. You're an idiot. Just kidding. But in all seriousness, if Austin is what you consider to be the epitome of the wrestling world, then we are totally different people. Don't get me wrong I think over his career he was good and on SOME occasions was even great, but to even mention him when considering the best of the best is just insane to me. When he was good he was really good, but when he's bad he's REALLY bad, I'm talking Nathan Jones vs. T. L. Hopper bad. And about the using Japanese matches for examples of good selling thing. Maybe those matches you named were unbelieveable and the selling is some of the best ever. I don't know because I haven't seen them. But that's the point. Why use matches that the majority of the people reading the thread probably have never seen? I wasn't dissing those matches, I just don't think you should use them to try and make a point when most haven't seen them and thus your point goes unmade anyway.

    Ric Flair: Greatest worker, wrestler...

Hmm, how do I respond to this utterly amazing use of facts and examples? Let's try..... No it didn't. Easy enough. Ah, this is one of those japanese fetish things. If it ain't from Japan then how could it be good? Since I assume you'd object to me calling it a U.S. classic as well, let's keep things in the ol' U S of A shall we? Yes and this would make sense because Rocky and Trips are MUCH better workers than Shawn and Bret.... Seriously, I lose some respect for people when I see them say this. If punching and kicking each other in the ring and into the crowd is a better way to use an hour, then yeah I guess Rocky and Hunter did have a better match than Bret-HBK. So many people get suckered in by the ridiculous amount of falls in that match that I guess they just don't notice all the crap surrounding it. I'd also like to point out that they also used a lot of rest holds and since that isn't really their thing, they looked really pathetic. I mean some of them rank right up there with one of my favorites (also seen in this match) Rock's Sharpshooter. That would be such a cop-out IF it even made sense here. But it does not. It has been well documented that Bret and Shawn's problems didn't start until AFTER this match. They had nothing against each other going into this match. And as for the realism. The way they built up the match besides the shawn's dream vs. Bret's NEED to be champion was by showing how hard they were training in preparation for the match. I guess I'll just steal a line from you. It just was. Plain and simple.

    Ric Flair: Greatest worker, wrestler...

The Ironman match IS a classic. The selling is not THAT bad. Is it the best job of selling ever? No, but it doesn't have to be. I don't even know what "pointless" mat work you are speaking of. And the rest hold thing is what gets me the most, well that and the no falls thing. They were going an hour! Going into the match they knew they were going an hour. So of course they were going to use rest holds to not only conserve their own energy, but also to wear down the other guy. And the no falls thing was one of the BEST things about the match. It was the main event of WM, the biggest show of the year. The title meant everything to Bret, it was his life. It was Shawn's dream to win it and to do so he had to go through Bret. So that belt meant so much to both guys, and they both didn't want to lose the first fall because it meant they'd be playing catch up from there. So both guys fought their asses off to not lose that first and as even the announcers constantly pointed out crucial fall. The one thing I do agree with you on is the overtime. I don't think it made any sense and still don't like that it happened. But that being said it didn't take away from the match, in fact it kind of added to it. Going back to the how much the title meant to both guys thing, it took two superkicks to keep Bret down, because he did not want to lose his title on the biggest show of the year. SS 92 better than WM12? Not just no, OH HELL NO.
