Nominees for the 2006 MTV Movie Awards
pochorenella replied to CBright7831's topic in Television & Film
What awful, awful results. -
I wouldn't exactly say they were murdered. They lost 2-1.

I like Justine just fine. That one-handed backhand shot is a rarity these days. Is she in the same group than Venus Williams? That could be her most serious challenge so far in the tourney. And I hope Hingis goes really far here. She's badly needed on the tour.

Terrific, terrific 4-set match. Nadal had tons of trouble with this Mathieu guy, specially keeping his serve after being broken almost a half-dozen times. For a short while I thought it would go to a fifth set but it was not to be. Now Rafa faces Hewitt next, which could also potentially be another great match. Mind you, Rafa is winning that one, but Hewitt could put up a great challenge.

A what?! When The Rock hits the PE he ends up on his back, right? He used to roll backwards immediately instead of just standing up or going for a cover or whatever. That clear enough or not? I believe he did this at KOTR98 against Shamrock if you want to check it.

The Directors Cut DVD Discussion Thread
pochorenella replied to Lil' Bitch's topic in Television & Film
Thanks, Lushus and Downhome. I'm not too fond on Robo3, so it's unlikely that I'll track the box set, but I'll go with whatever way I find cheaper. I forgot about this one. You're right, it's a great DC. -
The People's Elbow. I marked for it even before they started calling it as such, before it even was a finisher. Rock also used to do a cool backflip immediately after it, but he stopped doing it for whatever reason.

1992 The Year In Review. I think I remember something like Bret Hart handing Piper a boot to hit Michaels or something to that effect? Anyone could fill me in with some details on this like whose boot was it or if it was a boot at all? Thanks in advance. WWF @ Biloxi, MS - Coast Coliseum - March 10, 1992 Road to WrestleMania VIII: Shawn Michaels (w/ Sensational Sherri) defeated WWF IC Champion Roddy Piper via disqualification when the champion attempted to hit Michaels with Sherri's boot - handed to him by Bret Hart You rule, cawthon. Thanks.

The Directors Cut DVD Discussion Thread
pochorenella replied to Lil' Bitch's topic in Television & Film
I cannot emphasize enough how much better the director's cut of "Daredevil" was. I agree. Although I did like the original Daredevil, I felt the DC was so much better. I highly recommend it to anyone who hasn't seen it. Also like the DC of Almost Famous 'cause it has quite a few extra minutes on it, but I wouldn't go so far as to say it was an improvement because I really love the original movie. T2: Judgment Day I only watch in DC mode after I first got it. Awesome movie made just a bit more awesomer. (is that even a word?) X-Rated version of Robocop? Dude, I GOT to see it! -
You know, John Byrne deserves some credit (or blame, depending on your likings) on those stories like Dark Phoenix and Days of Future Past along with Chris Claremont. IIRC Byrne was credited as co-plotter/writer on many of those stories. IMO Claremont functioned better alongside Byrne, whereas Claremont alone leaves much to be desired as he has as much downs as he has ups (specially his later showings.)

Has anyone suggested the possibilty of a Dean Malenko vs Kurt Angle ECW match? Is it even feasible?

Maiden rules, dude.

PWInsider.com reported a 3.8 with 3.5 and 4.0 numbers. They said that it's not a bad rating given that it was a holiday and all.

That's soccer's lone plus over other sports. I've seen advertisements pop up on the screen from time to time during games, and the announcers do plug some commercials also during the game. This could change from place to place, I think.

The US already beat Mexico to qualify for the World Cup, but I don't remember the score, though. I remember it happening because there was quite an uproar over in Mexico for the loss. Friday debuts Germany vs Costa Rica and Ecuador, my home country, vs Poland (who just had a loss to Colombia 1-2). I like our chances, so I hope we make it to the second round. Go Ecuador!

Federer had Nadal's number last month (was it Montecarlo? I forget) where he should've won that 5-set masterpiece after leading 4-1 on the fifth and having two match points. Difference was that Nadal is a monster with the return and just keeps getting to each ball, even if they're extremely difficult, and sometimes hitting winners to boot! He took advantage on a single match point and took the championship, but Federer should have won that one. Of course Nadal is still the favorite on this type of courts, but Federer keeps getting better and better on clay, so if Federer can get past Nalbandian (he's ahead on 1 on 1 encounters) on the semis or somewhere around that, we should get another thriller like that last final they had, and I hope Federer wins it. The Federer-Nadal rivalry is sure to reach legendary status like Borg-McEnroe or Sampras-Agassi.

I immediately noticed that too. I would've said that no U2 on the list means it's more of a hard rock list (it's Kerrang! after all) but then I see fricking Blink 182 listed and I scratch my head... I must say I've never heard Black Flag, Fugazi, Napalm Death, or Emperor.

I don't know about that. Remember, the much-loved and highly-hyped Batman Begins barely managed to break the $200 million barrier ($205 to be exact), which is far less than its most succesful predecessor, the original Batman. Word of mouth did help BB, as it had great legs at the box office, hence its final tally after a rather strong-but-disappointing opening weekend. And no doubt its release on IMAX theaters helped a bit. Now X-Men 3 has a cume of $130 in just 4 DAYS (with a $7.5 mil tuesday), so it's reasonably on pace to a $250-$300 million final tally, exceeding both X1 and X2. I don't think the new Superman movie can pull that off, even if it's one of the most beloved characters worldwide and part of americana. Batman also managed to bounce back from a dead franchise but its movies still broke $100 milllion each at least. Superman IV? Supergirl? Those are pretty tough to overcome IMO. I figure it'll have a very strong showing box office-wise, and with Singer at the helm it could be a pretty terrific movie. But X-Men is a proven movie franchise at this point that I don't think Superman can match, unless we get a new cultural phenomenon the likes of the Star Wars movies or the first Batman flick. I still could be proven wrong, but I'm confident on my assesment. I guess we'll have to just wait and see.

My favourite Benoit WWF matches as inspired by Benoit vs Finlay

Now THAT is a list I'd agree on. Not that wilpegasus's list is terrible or anything, it has great matches and some forgotten gems, but no WMXX match? That's a big minus in my book. -
Reissue of D-X DVD (with extra matches)
pochorenella replied to pochorenella's topic in The WWE Folder
IIRC there was a match between HHH & HBK vs LOD, where the Outlaws came to the ring and helped lay out Animal and Hawk. Am I correct? That could be a nice addition, since it was the beginnings of the eventual addition of the NAO to DX. Anyways, the extras look pretty good. I'll be adding this one to my collection as well. -
This trailer is the best so far. I'm now confident Superman will destroy X3. Those are quite strong words, Jonathon. You mean quality-wise (could happen) or box office-wise (doubt it)?

Best. Comic. Persona. Ever. I still have that comic in my collection. Makes me wanna have a bachelor party of my own... The Impossible Man is also funny as hell.

It was revealed in the comics that his mutation also included the claws on each hand along with his healing factor and heightened, animalistic senses. Later the Weapon X program grafted the adamantium to his skeleton and claws. Yes, his healing factor was the one thing that allowed that process to be successful.

Yes, I remember liking that rematch quite a lot, although I haven't seen it recently. Probably look it up on my tape collection and give it a new go. BTW? Is the rematch the one that finishes with a modified Doomsday Device? I think I have both matches mixed up.
