The voices do sound too teenager-like, but the animation doesn't look that bad IMO. From the very beginning they said it was being done by the same guys that do X-Men Evolution so the style doesn't come as a surprise. If the story itself is strong then it should be decent, and since it's based on the Ultimates comics then I think it has a good chance.

Ripping off the cage door makes him a better wrestler?!! Apparently, on this board, it sure does.

Weekend Box Office Estimates (U.S.) Jan 13 - 16 weekend
pochorenella replied to BlackFlagg's topic in Television & Film
Boxofficemojo.com is now reporting that Glory Road outgrossed Hoodwinked in a photo finish for the 4-day weekend. -
That match is an extra on the Armageddon 2002 DVD. Just a terrific bout.

¡Si Señor! ¡Uno! ¡Dos! (Those Conquistadors were awesome.) The kazoos and streamers skits were great. And that Rebellion match vs Brock w/ Heyman was great, too. I second that one, and I can't believe I left out the MITB match and the SSlam match vs Storm. There's also the ladder match vs the Hardys on the first RAW on TNN. Terrific match, greatly overlooked.

I would add to that list: Edge/Hogan vs Storm/Christian solely because it was Hogan's only WWE Tag Title reign. There was a good cage macth on SD! between Edge and Jericho. IIRC one of them got injured here, don't remember exactly who it was. From the SmackDown Six Era: Edge/Rey vs Angle/Benoit from No mercy 02. MOTY without a doubt. Edge/Rey vs Angle/Benoit 2/3 falls match from SD! Edge vs Benoit vs Angle vs Eddie from SD! December 2002 (I think this was for the #1 contendership for Armageddon)

I'm putting all you HBK Haters on Ignore. Which means pretty much 3/4 of TSM, I guess.

Buenas fotos.

Shawn Michaels rules again on the Match of the Year category. IIRC that's his sixth PWI MOTY award, and he's also second runner-up. And his best match of the year didn't even make the list. Which in your opinion was what? Maybe Shawn vs Benjamin (Gold Rush Tourney)? I wouldn't mind it being included as runner-up, but I preferred the Mania match personally.

WWE Gets Good News In Armageddon Buyrate
pochorenella replied to QuestionMan's topic in The WWE Folder
Here is a list of WWE buyrates that I compiled throughout the year using the Wrestling Observer Newsletter. New Year’s Revolution 2005 - 367,000 2005 Royal Rumble - 570,000 No Way Out 2005 - 238,000 WrestleMania 21 - 985,000 Backlash 2005 - 310,000 Judgment Day 2005 - 260,000 ECW One Night Stand - 330,000 Vengeance 2005 - 427,000 Great American Bash ‘05 - 238,000 SummerSlam ‘05 - 534,000 Unforgiven 2005 - 225,000 No Mercy 2005 - 219,000 Taboo Tuesday 2005 - 215,000 19th Annual Survivor Series - 375,000 Armageddon 2005 - 290,000 Thanks for the post, hitman. I was pretty sure SSlam was second-highest after Mania, but it seems the Rumble got the nod. It looks weird that NYR2005 and SurSeries got higher buyrates than ONS. And it seems that buyrates decline after SummerSlam, since, with the exception of SSeries, all have similar numbers. And I thought the Bash would get the lowest number but Taboo Tuesday gets the dubious honor. Didn't Taboo 2005 did better than last year's? -

WWE Gets Good News In Armageddon Buyrate
pochorenella replied to QuestionMan's topic in The WWE Folder
Surprising, but great news for WWE. Guess people did wanna see Taker vs Orton. Maybe even the interpromotional tag match. Anybody have the buyrates for every WWE 2005 PPV? Or maybe post a link for them? I'm curious as to which PPV was the lowest for the year (maybe the Bash or No Mercy). Also curious to watch the trends (if any) for the PPV-buying public. -
Seems like I'm the only one whose favorite is Chasing Amy.

Anybody going to Miami to attend the Rumble? I'll be there, and I'll also be going to the Supershow (RAW & SD! taping) the following Monday in Orlando.

Hey, it's Kevin Smith. I'll watch it no matter what. The "Flying Car" short with Dante and Randall was done in color too and it came out great and funny, so I see no prob with the movie not being B&W.

That's terrific. EpIII may not receive any Golden Globes, and any Academy Award hopes may be limited to technical stuff, FX, and maybe music or score, so this is a great achievement, specially if you consider there were more choices of similar-typed fantasy/action/adventure movies like Batman Begins, King Kong, or Harry Potter, which were all fan favorites. Congrats to Lucas and the people that made Episode III. -
1000 Reasons why Late Night with Conan O'Brien
pochorenella replied to The Mandarin's topic in Television & Film
What? When did this happen? I've missed the show this whole week. -
I'm not against Kurt Angle being crowned World Champ on SD!, but I'm not quite happy for the circumstances that led to it or how it happened. It's a shame for Batista, but there's nothing you could do about it. WWE had to come up with a solution, and according to all reports it was received with tons of cheers by attending fans, so they succeded on that account. Good for Kurt, who finally gets a new reign as champ. The idea to repeat the Rumble 92 is pretty good, possibly the best scenario if you think about it (the winner having to defect to SD! if he was a RAW guy), but that would've led to both shows trying to build to a deserving #1 contender for Mania and maybe they didn't want to do that. On the already-announced Kurt vs HBK match for RAW, I have no fricking idea what'll happen. Maybe Shawn chasing Kurt, no matter what show he's in, is a possible storyline? I wouldn't mind HBK vs Kurt for Mania for the World Title. Not at all.

I liked it too, very much. I watched it back then with a girl I was interested in, and she kept saying how Fallon's character reminded her of me, you know, having this "obsessions" with wrestling, KISS, and having collectibles all over my apartment. Sadly, my particular story didn't end up having the happy ending I was looking for.
-
I think I might be the first one to suggest this, but don't you guys think there's a good chance the WWE Title match @ Mania 22 will be a Triple Threat? Right now I'm thinking Edge vs. HHH vs. Cena, but of course that could change come Royal Rumble time (which I'm seeing live, BTW ) And as for Edge as Champ, I honestly think he was due,he's homegrown talent, WWE has pushed him heavily lately, and I think he's as good a choice as any at this particular time. I had the idea that HBK would win it with Vince's help a-la Rock in SurSeries, but this is a nice surprise that I don't think many people saw coming in the ECW tradition.

It's widely available either in book form or comic-book (Trade Paperback) form. I have the three comic TPBs and have enjoyed them inmensely, although some people tell me the books are better. Either way you can check them out, you won't be disappointed. -
silvervision.co.uk has Canadian Stampede on DVD in one of those "Tagged Classics" releases they do. Otherwise, no matches from that PPV are available on DVD, american anyway.
