The Impact of Eddy's Death on the WWE
pochorenella replied to SilverPhoenix's topic in The WWE Folder
Care to elaborate on that, Sass? -
Eddie and Benoit celebrate together and hug each other at the closing moments of WMXX. I was there live and it was such an emotional moment for everyone. Eddie vs Rey Misterio jr. at Halloween Havoc. I was never a WCW fan until that point. This match still blows me away to this very day. The Rock and Eddie do promos on each other on RAW mid-2002. Eddie calls Rock "Rey Alacrán" (Scorpion King) and Rock sings "La Bamba" with changed lyrics. Eddie wins the WWE Title from Brock Lesnar. Absolutely terrific match and the post-match celebration was extremely emotional. Even Vince McMahon went backstage to hug Eddie. Royal Rumble 2005. Eddie steals Ric Flair's number for the Rumble (Eddie had #2, Flair had #30). Sadly, he'd give it back to Flair before the match. So many more great moments, can't possibly list them all now.

Godspeed, friend Eddie. You were a great among greats, and I will cry tonight for you. I'll miss you. Viva la Raza! Ve con Dios, amigo Eddie. Eras un grande entre los grandes, y esta noche lloraré por ti. Te extrañaré. Viva la Raza! R.I.P Eddie Guerrero.

When did Eddy ever hold the World Heavyweight title? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I was gonna ask the same thing. So, did they actually announce a Triple Threat Title match for next week?

Worst excuse to get out of a job/angle?
pochorenella replied to Epic Reine's topic in General Wrestling
Actually, I think Jericho losing that match was Jericho's own idea IIRC. I'm pretty sure I read that somewhere. -
Two more contestants fired last night. At this rate, the show's gonna end way before the contracted 22 episodes. How the hell do you fuck up selling Star Wars merch? What true new yorker doesn't know you can't get ANYWHERE in fifteen minutes?? NO DARTH VADER ON DISPLAY FOR EPISODE III DVD? Those two deserved to be fired.

Schiavone's an asshole. We now return to our regular thread.

SummerSlam 2005 DVD extras: Shawn Michaels On Larry Bling John Cena "Right Now" Music Video The Next Night On Raw... I don't own these, but I watched them with some friends a while back: Great American Bash 2005 has the Flair vs Sting match from WCW GAB 90 where Sting wins the Title. I always read this was a good match but I was really underwhelmed. Some vignettes with the bWo. Unforgiven 2005 has the 8-man tag match from next night's RAW: HBK, Show, Cena and Hardy vs Edge, Masters, Snitsky and Angle. Terrific, hot match. Sorry if I miss anything, this is all from memory.

I like most of the guys already mentioned, specially the Alien, Godzilla and Freddy Krueger (first 2 films only.) Any love for the Clown from IT? Pretty scary dude, guys.

My head hurts after reading that.

I like this. Hopefully Batista will be physically able to go for Mania 2006. Either way, I hope the injury's not that serious or at least his recovery time's not too long.

I already pre-ordered from FYE.com so I guess I'll know soon if I get the bonus disc, the skullcap, or neither.

Thomas Haden Church cast as villain for Spider-Man
pochorenella replied to EdwardKnoxII's topic in Television & Film
Why do you think that? IMO, CGI is the only way to go if you want to capture a true representation of Venom. A Chris Masters-type guy in a costume (with maybe just the face CGI) just doesn't cut it for the character. If they can pull it off like they did the Hulk then I say go for CGI entirely. The only drawback I can think of is that the budget would go to the roof for this movie. Spider-Man 2 alone cost $200 million to make. -
Moon Knight. Cool costume, interesting street-wise quality, complex personalities (3 of them, actually.)

Thomas Haden Church cast as villain for Spider-Man
pochorenella replied to EdwardKnoxII's topic in Television & Film
It was teased because Man-Wolf is really John Jameson. He went to a mission to the moon IIRC and found some magic stone that transformed him into this wolf god or something. -
I'd say Shawn Michaels is WWE Wrestler of the Year BY FAR. By my count, so far he has: - The MOTY 2005 (WM21 vs Kurt) - TV MOTY (Gold Rush Tourney vs Benjamin) - One of the best Feuds of the Year (vs Hogan.) It certainly made a huge buzz and was the main reason why SSlam 2005 was the most successful in years. - Heel promo of the Year (RAW in Montreal, perhaps one of the best in a LONG time) - Another ****+ match (Vengeance vs Angle again) - At least ***+ at Taboo Tuesday and RAW Homecoming. - Good-to-very good matches with Edge (Rumble and RAW Street Fight specially) - One of the truly Markout Moments of the year, teaming with Marty Jannetty to reunite The Rockers against La Resistance. - Quite a few High-profile RAW main events, including teaming with Hogan and a terrific, hot 8-man tag match the day after Unforgiven, which the crowd was crazy for. You can call me an HBK mark (which I am) but, with the exception of winning any sort of championship, Shawn Michaels has done it all this year, and I listed all my reasons why he's Wrestler of the Year for 2005.

One and Only Star Wars Geekiness Thread
pochorenella replied to Black Lushus's topic in Television & Film
Apparently it is cheaper to go all CGI for a movie of this kind. Remember the budget, while being $115 million, it's relatively normal if you compare it to movies like Van Helsing or Spider-Man 2 ($200 million budget). In fact, Lucas has managed to keep the budget for all three prequels in the same money range. After all, he's the one that puts all the money on the films. -
I agree that Markus did absolutely nothing on this task, and he had the gall to say he did an "outstanding job"?? He was delusional. Of course, the gay guy dropped the ball big time on his presentation and I felt he was also deserving of being fired.

So if the ratings went from a 0.1 to a 0.2 would people be saying "wow, a 100% increase, great!!" Seems a bit misleading to me for such low number. It's already discussed on the TNA forum but the 0.1 increase it's probably the people who didn't catch the original airing since saturday's show dropped 0.1 from the week before.

Worst excuse to get out of a job/angle?
pochorenella replied to Epic Reine's topic in General Wrestling
Since I'm sure I'll be raked over the coals for saying this, let me explain my side. First off, I'm a huge Bret mark, and despise Shawn Michaels, but I like to think that it doesn't stop me from looking at this objectively. On the other hand, I don't think I've ever seen an HBK mark look at this from an unbiased POV, it's always "refusing to lose in your home country is ridiculous" (naturally, ignoring that Shawn had refused to job to anyone, anywhere, period,) or "Bret takes himself too seriously, whining because he lost in a worked sport" or some other such nonsense. Bret was absolutely not right for refusing to job. There are very few situations where it's right to refuse a job, IMO (the Austin/TT situation being one exception), and if I was Bret in that situation, I probably would have ended up going through with the job. That's not to say I wouldn't have tried to find another way to job it, but I wouldn't have walked away without dropping the belt, which would have happened had he not dropped it in Montreal. But at the same time, this one isolated situation hardly warrants what Vince and company did to him, and hardly compares to all the careers that have been wrecked by Shawn and his chip off the ol' block, Hunter. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Being that I'm the lowly, biased, ignore-worthy "HBK mark" you're referring to, allow me to discuss my side a bit. I've never hidden my preference over Shawn Michaels on this board, nor do I think it is cause for shame or anything, although that's what many anti-HBK people here would like to think. I find it rich that favoritism over a particular wrestler is reason enough for being ignored. Alfdogg, I have a surprise for you. I'm also a Bret Hart fan. Oh my God! How ...is that possible? If you're an "HBK mark" aren't you automatically a Bret Hart hater? Not in my case. I like to think I'm also objective on the matter of the much-discussed Montreal Incident/Screwjob. Dude, back then, when I read about Bret going to WCW I almost had a heart attack, and I was sure WWF would fold. That's how concerned I was with Bret leaving. Do I support Vince's choice in the matter? Yes, I do. As a boss you have to do what you deem necessary for your company's well-being. Could it have been resolved better? No doubt, but both sides seemed unable or unwilling to come to terms and the rest is history. Is HBK responsable too? To a degree, although he was doing what he was told, but some people like to make him the sole culprit or the mastermind behind it and I think that's not fair. Was HBK an asshole to some wrestlers back then? Sure he was, I'm not denying it, although I'd like to hear about that huge list of wrestlers whose lives he wrecked. He's gotten out of a lot of championship match jobs. Michaels now seems a changed man, and he's been given a new opportunity to perform on a grand stage and I think he's doing that admirably. On topic, Bret refused to job in front of his Canadian fans. Wether it was the main reason he refused or not doesn't matter to me. It was ONE of his reasons and that is a fact. I'm not saying Bret should be remembered by this incident forever, neither was I trying to imply that. His legacy goes beyond that particular moment. I was just answering a question posted. Sorry about this, didn't want to turn it into another HBK discussion. -

Not wanting to lose in your home country. -
The ratings for SD! have been going up for several weeks now. Last week it posted a 2.7 final rating, up from last week and the week before.
-
Didn't feel like making a new thread for this but if anybody wants they can make a new one: Smackdown! ended up with a 2.7 rating last week. That's up from 2.6 the week before and it's at least the 3rd or 4th consecutive week the show has gone up in the ratings.

I'm looking around for this ***** Benoit match, care to direct me to it? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> The question wasn't aimed at me but allow me to chime in. I'm no Meltzer or Keith but IMO these Benoit matches I'd consider *****: Benoit vs Sasuke, Super J Cup Finals Benoit vs Angle, Rumble 2003 Triple H vs Michaels vs Benoit, WMXX I know many consider his Owen Hart Tribute match with Bret to be ***** but not me. Also *KNK*, being that you've only given a couple of NA matches your highest grade and one of those being a CM Punk match (with Samoa Joe I presume), I ask you which one of their series do you give this rating? I've seen all three of them (if there are more I'm unaware of it) and I'd say the one from Joe vs Punk II is the best one, although I wouldn't give it *****.
