I saw the match and he didn't do anything really special. Both Fujita and Chono basically bumped for Brock most of the match. I think he did a couple of suplexes maybe, tops, he did his shoulder ramming thingie on the corner, F5s for everyone (oops, sorry... Veredicts), pin, new Champ. Nine minutes tops and totally unimpressive for me. I'm a fan of his and I think maybe since it was his first match in a long while it may have been a bit off. Hopefully he'll be able to work off his ring rust soon and deliver more.

I seemed as if the Powers-at-be (Bischoff?) at that time gave the US Title as a prize for every new guy they got. Sting handed it over to Sasaki with little fanfare, Sasaki to OMG (who was relatively new to WCW at that point), and OMG to Konnan.

It's the DVD version of an old Coliseum Video release, nothing more. The only reason I got it was to have the Marty vs Shawn match on DVD quality. That match, IMO, while a terrific match, is second to their first RAW encounter where Marty wins the IC Title. Although I believe it did win MOTY honors on PWI. Anyway, I got it real cheap so no regrets on my part.

From Newsarama.com: I think 31% decline from the previous issue (even if it is a #1) is a pretty sharp drop, but what the hell do I know. Is it that common to drop this much or what? Here are the actual sales figures. Edit: Those are the August figures. Sorry, my bad.

I never got the appeal for Super Porky. I watched those shows from Mexico and the crowd loved him but really I couldn't see what they saw. So is he really under 5'? Does he qualify for the Juniors Division or what?

This week's numbers are truly bad. I haven't seen the show yet but the only explanation I can find is that the show was severely lacking. Last week's RAW I thought was Ok and I felt the ratings decline was justified somewhat. This week I can't defend it even if I tried to.

Personally, I thought it was a good series that gets shitted on just because it's Triple H vs Michaels, and you know they're not the most beloved men here. Their SSlam match is great, the 3 stages of Hell is mediocre, the december 03 RAW match is perhaps the best of the bunch, Last Man standing was merely ok with a finish that didn't help much (but led to the Mania match), and HIAC I feel is terribly underrated around these parts (surprise, surprise). You could count Taboo Tuesday if you wanted, but that match suffered because of Michaels' inury, although the story of the match revolved around it and made for a nice change of pace. Both 3-ways with Benoit were outstanding but you have another guy factor in the equation so I'm not sure if they count. Granted, it's no Flair/Steamboat or Austin/Rock but still fairly good. A couple key matches from that feud would make a nice addition to a multi-disc DVD if they ever do one (and you KNOW they will, sooner or later.)

I do remember a while back it was reported WWE were planning a Triple H DVD (multi-disc set this time) and a Ladders Match DVD. The former I'd get if it had HIAC vs Cactus, JDay2000 vs Rock, and vs HBK from RAW. The latter is harder to figure out since most of the great/important ladder matches are on numerous DVDs already, but Hart vs HBK, Razor vs HBK II, Triple H vs Rock, and E&C vs Hardys (first RAW on Spike TV) would be great to have on a DVD set.

Oh, it was NON-major show. My bad, I read it wrong. So then, I have Vengeance 2005 ahead of it. What PPV would be the other?
-
What did Royal Rumble 2005 do? I know WM21 did over a million buys, and SummerSlam did over 500,000 so for ECW ONS to come in third then the Rumble must have been less than 310,000. I have a hard time believing that.

Is that confirmed? I checked fye.com and there's no info on this at all, but I'm pre-ordering from them anyway and see what happens. Hopefully there will be a bonus disc with at least a couple of decent matches.

PWInsider is now reporting a 2.5 rating for SmackDown! on Oct.14.

Aquaman from Justice League is way better than the comic-book version, IMO. Still, Namor could kick the crap out of him all over the Seven Seas, no matter what you saw on Marvel vs DC #2.

Bendis has said that we can still expect a couple of huge surprises for HoM#8, and that speculation on 168 (or 198) being the actual number of mutants left, while a good theory, is completely wrong.

It seems any title with Jim Lee drawing will do huge business nowadays, even Superman. Add beloved Frank Miller to the mix and you have a sure-fire hit, no matter what, even if Miller hasn't delivered anything good in a long while (not named Sin City or 300.) He seems to mostly go by on reputation these days. Despite being hated on by a very vocal internet fanbase, New Avengers keeps bringing the numbers sales-wise. Bendis sells comics, wether you like it or not.

Do any of you have a date for when this motorcycle accident happened? It is pretty obvious that Von Erich is using the prosthetic on his match vs Lawler, you can tell he walks funny with his right leg, and you can also notice his right boot is somewhat different. So it has to be way before all this happened. Was it before or after his matches with Flair for the NWA Title?

I wonder which version of Rocky we'll get this time. The slick, well-dressed, well-spoken Rocky from part III and IV, or the dumb-sounding, street-thug from all the others. I always found it funny and strange that he went from not-so-educated, to educated, and back. Remember he had all these problems learning and delivering his lines on those commercials in RII, but then on RIII he looked like he nailed them (what was it, credit card commercials?) So I never understood why he regressed so much on RV.

I was checking the Wrestling Stars of the 80s DVD, and on the Kerry Von Erich vs Jerry Lawler match the commentators stated that both had defeated Ric Flair, Hulk Hogan, and Randy Savage. I do recall Flair and Von Erich trading the NWA Title in Texas and Japan, and I recall Savage and Lawler feuding in Memphis, but other than that I'm unaware of the instances were said wrestlers faced the other guys. Anyone can help pinpointing this matches and the circumstances surrounding them? Thanks. Also, what are the circumstances surrounding Kerry Von Erich's fake leg? How did he lose it? How long did it take for him to return to the ring? When did the truth emerge or was it always known?

Agreed 100% on all points. Well put, Cheesala.

Isn't 2.4 the same rating the got last week and similar (even higher maybe) than the week before that? I think this is the average rating they've been getting since the move to fridays. Why are they calling it one of the lowest ever?

I really enjoy this series, but I can't help thinking how messed up Smallville's continuity is when you have to wonder how in the blue hell Lex and Lois won't figure out that Supes and Clark are one and the same right from the get go, being that they've known each other since fricking high school. And Clark should have banged Chloe first instead of Lana. I still can't believe she lost her virginity with Jimmy Olsen.

Cassidy was really Al Snow on his "New Rocker" gimmick.

Yea, we all know the REAL Flash couldn't catch a bullet. Who did they think they were kidding? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Maybe I didn't make myself clear. Of course Flash can go as fast or faster than a bullet, that's beyond question. It's the way he did the catching, like he was catching a baseball or something. The bullet even bounced off his hand IIRC. I think he may have to grab it at the same speed the bullet is going or something like that. But catching it with the palm of his hand? I don't think so. And yes, I know I'm nitpicking.

Best wishes for the guy.
