    Matches you love

The Rock vs RVD, from some SD! I think. Rocky was WCW champ, and RVD was the Alliance's Golden Boy. Stephanie McMahon came to interfere and caused a ref bump into the ropes, crotching RVD as he was about to do the Five Star. That led to the Rock Botton for the win. Fun match that I always enjoy. The Minnessota Stretching Crew (Brock Lesnar & Shelton Benjamin) vs The Disciples of Synn ©. From a SD! Taping. The Crew wins the crowd over thruout the match, making them mark for the hot tag and when Brock slammed the Disciples' manager, Synn. And watch the crowd erupt when Lesnar does a picture-perfect Shooting Star Press for the win and the Titles. And speaking of Brock... Brock Lesnar © vs Randy Orton, from SD! September 2002. One of Brock's first WWE Title defenses IIRC. Orton gets some good offense in but Brock is just on a roll. Randy goes to the top for a Frog Bodypress but Lesnar catches him, falls backwards and in a single, sweet motion puts Randy in position for an F5. Excellent, mark-out finish.

The Flash To Come Out On DVD.

The Flash was absolutely my favorite comic book character when I was a kid until I discovered Marvel. The series was mostly harmless, although I found the costume really cool-looking. Of course, they took some liberties with the physics and stuff (like Flash catching a bullet in the palm of his hand) but I could forgive that. The guy who played the Flash is probably better remembered as Dawson Leary's father from Dawson's Creek.

New TNA DVD's (Styles, X Divison)

But their prices online are pretty good. Bret Hart's DVD is $19.99 and Warrior's DVD is $13.99 with bonus disc included (someone on the WWE forum confirmed he got the xtra disc ordering online). It's their in-store prices that seem to be way too high. On topic now, is AJ Styles vs Samoa J on the X Division set? I seem to get conflicting reports on this.

New TNA DVD's (Styles, X Divison)

Aw crap, I already ordered "Best of the X Division" from amazon.com and it's on the way at this moment. What's with FYE getting all these exclusive bonus discs? Now it's rumored they'll have one for the Bret DVD, too. It's gonna almost make me not hate them anymore.

    The Move

I really hope it means the return of a "Saturday Night's Main Event"-type show. A show every three or four months would be great.

    Teh Ratingz~!

That's what I was trying to imply. The other statement just seemed like a cheap poke at WWE to me. But hey, it's fun to do that, right? I really don't see the catastrophe many are pointing out for the drop on this week. A .4 loss is not that big a deal to me considering it's better than what RAW was averagin the past few months on Spike, and the fact that it's the follow-up to a massively-publicyzed return show packed with all kinds of big-profile matches and big-time returns, whereas this monday's show had but a fraction of that hype. Now, if you wanna state that the drop is .7 from last week's 9pm-11pm only, then you also have to concede that 4.7 for two hours (not 4.4 for three) was the real rating for last week's show, which in turn would be the highest rating since God knows when on Spike. What I do think is worrying is the show's quality, which has been hit-and-miss for a long while now. USA gives WWE a few more homes than Spike, and that's good, but if they don't hook that audience then they're bound to slide again to those horrible 3.2s or less they had lately.
  9. Does anyone know if there's alternate commentary by Bret on any of the matches?

    Teh Ratingz~!

Not good for whom? For WWE or for TNA? AM RAW is a saturday morning show, a la Superstars or Bottom Line. It doesn't matter if it's a condensed RAW version. The Impact replay is on Monday night, which is a proven, better spot than any other day.

    Is U2 really this big?

For me it's Achtung Baby!, Joshua Tree, War, Unforgettable Fire, and HTDAAB. ONE OF the biggest bands in the world? I can buy that. Someone mentioned that he regards ticket sales over album sales. That's certainly debatable but interesting. Rolling Stone's album sales are in the crapper and have been for a LOOOONG time, but their concerts sell out all over the place. Bon Jovi's sales have seen a little resurgence but not "Slippery When Wet" levels, of course, not even close. Not sure how the tour is doing. U2 saw a big comeback in album sales after the absolutely sucky "Pop" numbers, and now they're playing 7 consecutive sold-out MSG concerts in NYC. Kiss perform a bunch of sold-out concerts around the world but their last studio album barely cracked Gold status and all subsequent releases (all greatest hits packages) have merely done Ok, not reaching Gold plateau. Metallica is Metallica, and I have no idea what they're doing right now, but their last release was shitty both quality and sales-wise.

Songs Stuck in Your Head Today

I watched "School of Rock" again the other day, so "It's a Long Way to the Top" is stuck in my head ever since.

Chloe appeals to us the same reason Veronica Mars, Dana Scully, and Willow Rosenberg do...smart chicks are hot. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I could care less for Veronica Mars or Willow. Dana Scully, on the other hand, hell yeah. Now THAT is a woman.
  14. There's talk of an extra disc if you pre-order from FYE, but I think we must confirm this.

    Bret Hart DVD!

I need info on this ASAP.
  16. If he believes it's his finest match with Owen, how do we argue it? "No Bret, I'm sorry, that wasn't your best with Owen. Choose another for the DVD, now". <{POST_SNAPBACK}> How do we argue it? We're fucking experts at that! Bret has stated a few times that his IronMan match with Shawn at ManiaXII is one of his best EVER (if not THE best) of his career. The smarks response: "Bret's out of his mind", "it barely registered at ***", "worst IronMan ever", "I want what Bret's smoking". As I said in the other thread, I'm getting this DVD no matter what, but I can't help but feel a little disappointed in the match selection, specially considering Bret had 100% say on what went into the set. I still maintain that he should've done a poll on his webpage so he could have a better grasp of what HIS FANS wanted instead of just putting what HE wanted.

    Bret Hart DVD!

Well then, he's not giving fans what they want to see. Rather he's giving them what HE wants them to see. He should've done a poll on his website asking what would fans be interested the most in seeing - within the realm of WWE, WCW, and maybe Stampede.

The OAO RAW thread - 10/10/05

I thought that was perfectly clear when Linda said it last week before she got stunnered by Austin.

    Bret Hart DVD!

Your right. For me, though, the ONO match (along with the SD! match vs Angle, and the $16.99 price tag) was a big reason why I DID buy Taker's DVD, even though I'm not a Taker fan. Maybe it's just me, but I can't help feel a little bit disappointed they didn't include some more fan-favorite matches.

    Old school upsets...

I always thought Tatanka beating the Warlord on Prime Time Wrestling was a big upset. Mind you, this was really early in Chavis' WWF career, so there was no way to know they were building to that undefeated streak he had for so long.

I'll go with Chloe. Funny, I thought most guys were ga-ga over Lana, but I see there seems to be quite a few Chloe supporters here. Glad I'm not the only one.

When was the last **** match...

To directly address the first post, IN MY OPINION, there are a few matches from WWE 2005 that have reached a level of ****+. Now, I'm not really one to rate a match with stars or the like (damn if I get the difference between **** and ****1/4), but I might go that route from time to time. So from this year, ****+ matches (from the best one down): HBK vs Angle from WM21, I'll give ****3/4. Not a five * classic for me but still MOTY IMO. Money In The Bank, ****1/2 Cena vs JBL from JDay HBK vs Angle II, from Vengeance Shelton vs HBK, Gold Rush Tourney Rey vs Eddie, from some SD! I can't remember HHH vs Batista, from Vengeance I have not seen Unforgiven and No Mercy yet. HBK vs Angle III wasn't really upt ot snuff compared to these others listed. Now, addressing KNK's statement that there are no ***** matches in WWE since 1996, I could name a few that I feel deserve that rating and deserve to be named classics, like: Taker vs HBK, HIAC Bret vs Austin, WMXIII HHH vs Cactus, Rumble 2000 Austin vs Rock, WMX-7 Benoit vs Angle, Rumble 2003 HHH vs Benoit vs HBK, WMXX And I also feel there are quite a few others from that time period (1997-2004) that can be considered ****+, but I won't list any.

    Bret Hart DVD!

From the looks of it, seems that Bret wanted as little of Shawn and Flair as possible on this DVD. Not that he should dedicate whole chapters to them or anything like that, but his very first WWF Title win was against Flair and in Canada, no less. And Shawn is arguably one of his biggest rivals both in and out of the ring, so it's somewhat surprising the lack of material from them. Maybe he goes a bit at lenght on them on the main program, which seems to be fairly long.
