Yes! Best movie ever is getting released on DVD
pochorenella replied to Ravenbomb's topic in Television & Film
Kiss is widely regarded (not only by me) as one of the greatest and most influential Rock bands of all-time. Recordings like "Destroyer" and "Alive!" regularly rank as some of the greatest rock albums ever (check the latest Hit Parader list of all-time), and Paul Stanley is one of rock's most beloved and recognizable frontmen. Your statements really don't mean squat. You don't like Kiss? That's all good and dandy, go listen to The Knack or Sergio Mendez or whatever else you might like. Bye bye. -

Dude, you obviously don't know shit about Kiss, so kindly keep your ignorant comments to yourself. Kiss glorified disco?!? They did have a disco phase back in the day (and had their biggest hit single, mind you), but to call them entirely that just reeks of ignorance. About the metal thing, Kiss got tagged with the Metal category when everybody from Quiet Riot to Bon Jovi was named as such. Even fricking Jethro Tull won a Grammy Award for Best Metal Band!! Just goes to show you that sometimes things and/or people get categorized in the wrong way. So no, Kiss is not metal. Rock? You betcha. I still remember watching that and marking the hell out, as I didn't have a clue what was going on. That moment is on the Kiss: Second Coming DVD. Can't tell you how to find pictures of it, though, sorry. -
As a wrestling fan, yes it is... Not in a snarky way but I believe wrestling fans should watch more than just one company's body of work. It helps add to the enjoyment or anguish rather, in WWE's case when someone is doing something right. And I think people who watch WWE exclusively realistically only have 25% of an idea how pro wrestling is to be operated. WWE style? Nameless cruisers? No thanks. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I'll give to you that it could give a better understanding of the actual ring-work to have knowledge of other wrestling promotions and styles. But you have to understand that different promotions cater to different audiences/markets. Personally, I don't follow Puro that much, except for the ocassional tape. Ditto for TNA and ROH, although I've followed those more closely this couple of years, certainly more that Japan stuff. Still, just being a WWE-only fan doesn't make anybody less than other. I consider myself a wrestling fan, but I mainly follow WWE stuff. Why? Preference, plain and simple. Like I said before, I catch the occasional non-WWE american stuff, and I enjoy it quite a lot, but I still find myself more attracted to the WWE product. A mortal sin? Yeah, God forbid I don't know Hijo del Santo's measurements or Rikidozan's Title accomplishments. Like it or not, WWE is the main wrestling source for most fans. No need to put them down if they haven't heard of Kenta Kobashi or Blue Demon.

Kiss Rules. But, yeah, this movie is pretty bad. This coming from a die-hard fan for life. Will I buy it? Quite possibly. -
Personally, I think Angle vs Michaels from Mania21 is the clear-cut winner at this point, as far as PPVs are concerned. For TV, I'm partial to Benjamin vs Michaels from the Gold Rush Tourney on RAW.

Careful now, you're talking to people who've no idea that there's such a thing as wrestling outside WWE. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> What the fuck are you talking about? Is that a mortal sin or something, not following wrestling from other places? This is the WWE folder and it is meant to discuss that particular brand. If you want to discuss other options go to the respective folder but don't come here and put down people just because they may or may not have heard about certain wrestler from abroad, otherwise you're just an idiot.

Speaking of Topher Grace, I read somewhere that it was rumored he's playing Venom in the next Spidey movie, with the guy from Ned & Stacey playing the Sandman and James Franco as the Hobgoblin. This is just rumor, mind you, so take it for what it's worth.

Sin City on DVD soon...
pochorenella replied to LivingLegendGaryColeman's topic in Television & Film
I'll buy it. It's still a bit expensive, but since it's two versions of the movie and a Graphic Novel as an extra then it adds up. -
Bulldogs over Harlem Heat, then Bulldogs over R&R Express.

Tombstone: The History of the Undertaker
pochorenella replied to Slickster's topic in The WWE Folder
There's two that I know of. One is Taker doing this long explanation about his childhood with his brother Kane and the subsequent fire in his home that killed his parents and Kane (or so he thought.) This one I actually found but don't remember exactly where it is. Not that difficult to find, though. The other one I heard about but haven't actually seen, is supposedly Paul Bearer talking to Jerry Lawler about his escapades with Kane's mom. -
IIRC, the movie was highly regarded here on TSM. A lot of people seemed to like it back then, even if the critics didn't. Without question. I may sound like a broken record by now, but I liked the original version. And the Director's cut blows it out of the water. Again, there's an old thread about it here somewhere.

It lasted a long time because it lasted a long time? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Sorry if I didn't make myself clear. What I meant to say was that it went from the original creator, Chic Young, to his son, to his grandson (or maybe just to the son, I'm not clear about this), so that's why I said 3 generations. So what I meant was 3 generations of CREATORS. Sorry again for the mix-up. Also, I believe that last C&H strip is printed on the "It's a Magical World" collection.

So the iPod mini is now discontinued?? That really sucks, since I just bought a 6GB model about 5 months ago. That black model looks sweet, though. Still, $50 difference from the 4GB model to the 20GB iPod? If it's memory you want then it's a no-brainer. A 6GB model at the same price ($250) would be ideal IMO.

The Ross Report for September 9th, 2005
pochorenella replied to QuestionMan's topic in The WWE Folder
Hope nobody takes this the wrong way, but this is exactly the kind of nitpicking that caused the original Ross report to go away (other than lack of time on JR's part.) Just the fact of being mentioned or unmentioned in said report is a double-edged sword for the involved wrestlers. Everyone tries to discern exactly what JR means when he says this or that, or wether he's airing any dirty laundry towards any Fed member. I just read it and enjoy the "insider" info and remarks, nothing more, nothing less. I propose we all do the same. -
Hey I love the Blondie strip. Granted, the earlier ones, but still it is a classic, and its longevity is well-deserved. I believe it went for 3 generations at least, so that's why it has lasted so long. Wether C&H went for only 15 years is not really that relevant, it still is arguably the greatest strip ever. If the creator chose to stop producing the strip then it was his decision and our loss.

Good idea, Downhome. Think I'll do that myself.

Both DareDevil and Punisher did well box-office wise, each to a degree. DD had a $70 mill budget and did $102 on its run, so it should be considered a success. Punisher's budget was $25-30 mil and did $30-35 and did great with DVD sales of over 2 million units. So a mild success at theaters and great showing at the DVD market. Wether they were critical favorites or not seems irrelevant in this case, since monetary-wise both were successful enough to guarantee at least one sequel each.

Point taken, Kahran. But Angle has also wrestled quite sporadically for the past couple of years, granted, due to his neck problems. This year he really stepped up on his game, but before that he was doing those Angle Invitationals, doing the occasional big PPV or SD! match. Just last year when he was in that awful GM role on wheelchair. By SSlam time it looked like he was back to full speed but that didn't last long. Still, you make a valid argument, if you add all up it might seem like similar timeframes. BTW, who in their right minds could ever imply something like this? Is there an actual poster who could defend this?

X-7, without a doubt.

Agreed on all counts. I don't believe anybody has actually tried to pass over as fact that Michaels was a ratings god. He clearly wasn't. Neither is he a monster box-office draw. What I think is that he wasn't as terrible a ratings/box-office draw as most here would like to think. There are some pretty good examples of this throughout this thread that can back that up. He was most definitely NOT ratings/box-office death. I think he did the best he could (when he was on top as Champ) given the situation of a depleted WWF roster and stiff competition from WCW. He certainly provided the best matches on the cards (Hell, he still does most of the time.) For the record, being as much of a fan of Shawn Michaels as Rrrsh and maybe JoeJoe doesn't blind me to the fact that he's not Hogan/Austin/Rock level money-maker. But he's not as crappy as most here would like to state. And returning to the actual TOPIC at hand, I already said it but I think HBK is a favorable comparison to Flair in the overall aspect of skills. That being, he's not particularly THE BEST on one single skill (maybe bump-taking but still arguable), but he's good enough or better on almost all, making him great all-around. Adding up his longevity is also a big plus over others. So I may not agree completely, but it does make a good comparison to Flair.

No wonder why I love Agassi's playing so much. That match was so fan-fucking-tastic, it had me screaming at my TV set. I was fearing Blake was taking it on 3 sets, but man did Andre rally from behind. I watched the entire tie-breaker standing 2 inches from my TV. Andre is the fucking MAN. I want Federer vs. Agassi in the finals, dammit!!

Marty with an out-of-nowhere Rocker Dropper on Smash for the first elimination. Shawn superkicks Edge to take him out of the equation and both Rockers team up for a Rockerplex on Christian for the upset win.

I agree. I doubt the mainstream moviegoer even knew that Blade was a Marvel character, but the movie was a hit and became a succesful franchise worldwide. Personally I see good possibilities on a Dr. Strange movie, and I'm not really a fan of his. If Constantine was a mild hit (it made monster business overseas), even with all the changes the character had from the comic, then I see no reason why a Dr. Strange movie couldn't be succesful. It all comes down to a good script and good directing. The total opposite of that dreadful Dr. Strange TV movie from my childhood. Now THAT was a piece of crap.

More info on 'Wrestlemania: Anthology' DVD boxset
pochorenella replied to Fökai's topic in The WWE Folder
I'm assuming Wrestlemania 2000 will remain 2-discs as well. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Mania 2000 was indeed a 2-disc set, but the event itself was on a single disc. It was quite loaded IIRC, with alternate commentary for the EuroContinental match. No doubt the reason why the video quality was somewhat lacking. The second disc was a WM retrospective with interviews and stuff. -
Funny that David Nalbandian is one of the few players who has a positive win/loss record against Federer. He even has a win over him on a previous US Open but on an earlier round. All wins for Nalbandian except the last two times. Should be interesting, although last night's game saw Nalbandian really lacking.
