    Bret Hart meeting WWE

Sorry, Downhome, but I think Jim Neidhart inducting Bret would be awful. Neidhart right now is a nobody, whose only claim to fame is being part of the Hart Foundation. He pulled his weight there, but Bret was the clear star. Inducting someone of the level of Bret Hart requires another guy on a similar level. I think Benoit is the most adequate choice.

    Hulk Hogan or Shawn Michaels?

Shawn Michaels all the way. I'm gonna be there live just to see Shawn superkick the piss out of Hogan.

Who's going to any WWE shows this summer?

SummerSlam on August 21st. $30 nosebleed seat at the left side of the entrance.

    Bret Hart meeting WWE

Yes, it was a joke. It's just that a couple of days ago I was reading this article on 411mania.com and they make some interesting points that make that "theory" maybe just a bit plausible. Not saying you should all believe it or anything but at the very least it makes for interesting discussion. And it has nothing to do whatsoever with Bret's feelings on Vince regarding his brother Owen.

WWE bans the "450 Splash & the SSP" !!

I think Benoit might have given a Dragon Suplex to Angle in the Wrestlemania 2000 Triple Threat Double Title match with Jericho in it and accidentally injured Angle's neck a little from what I read a while back. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I think you're right. I was there live and forgot all about it. I guess those were the only two times Benoit used the move in WWE/F before the Heat match?

You all realize that the Montreal Screwjob was all a work, right? Right?

WWE bans the "450 Splash & the SSP" !!

I thought that Dragon Suplexes were banned a while ago, being that they affect the neck area and such, but Paul London's used it a couple of times this year, even on PPV, and Benoit used one recently as well. In fact, execpt for the Regal match, Benoit hasn't used one since actually debuting the move on WWE against Jericho on PPV on 2000 (SummerSlam?) Feel free to correct me on this. Ditto for overhead suplexes, but Kurt Angle's been using them pretty often.

    Wrestlers mentioned in songs..

There's a song by this british boy band, Five, that mentions a few wrestlers like Stone Cold and Jimmy Snuka, IIRC. Don't ask me how I know that shit.

WWE bans the "450 Splash & the SSP" !!

Horrible news. Now both Paul London and Juventud are fucked, specially London who was starting to use his London Calling SSP again after Kidman left. IIRC he dropped the 450 'cause Juventud started using it, too. There goes the "Most Beautiful Finish Move in WWE" (according to Michael Cole.)

    Bret Hart meeting WWE

Terrific news. Does this mean that the reported DVD title ("Screwed: The Bret Hart Story") is no more? If the DVD comes out with that name then I'd guess it was OK'd by the Hitman. As for possible matches, I can't really begin to fathom all the great possibilities for this release. Hopefully they put his first WWF Title win, and you gotta figure that the WM13 match is a must, although that could be saved for another Stone Cold release in the future if WWE wants.

Thomas Haden Church cast as villain for Spider-Man

I don't recall any instance were Eddie Brock was portrayed as an astronaut either in the comics or cartoon shows. The deal was that in the 90's cartoon they used an angle were John Jameson crash landed back on earth from space and he inadvertedly brought the Venom symbiote. Then pretty much like the comics, it met Peter Parker, Peter rejected it and then met Eddie who was either a reporter or a photographer. IMO that was a clever way to introduce the Venom character without the Secret Wars stuff. It could be perfectly used for a big-screen adaptation.

    Unforgiven Main Event

Credit: PWInsider.com Not that Jericho had much of a real chance to unseat Cena, but I don't like WWE somewhat spoiling things like this. Still, I'll root for Y2J at the event. Hopefully Kurt can help Cena and produce a nice match, they've done it before, this time could be a different but good dynamic.

Ultimate Warrior speaks out about his upcoming DVD

The pricing also suggests a single-disc release. Good choices on the matches, really there wasn't much you could include quality-wise, except maybe for the Warrior/Rude IC Title match from SSlam, or that Champion vs Champion match vs Savage at MSG (Wrestling Superheroes.) I'm still on the fence, I guess I'll wait to get in used or bargain-priced.

Thomas Haden Church cast as villain for Spider-Man

Interesting to say the least. I trust Raimi with the franchise so hopefully this turns out to be good for the film.

    Fuck him, then.
  24. Umm, NYR get a pretty good buyrate? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I do believe NYR did something like 350,000 buys, which is terrific for a non-Big Four PPV. The match itself was enjoyable, and the Puerto Rican crowd was hot for mostly everything, even Maven.

    August Jukebox match listing

That HIAC match is highly underrated around this board. While I found it merely OK on first viewing, I've come to appreciate it on further ones. It's my opinion that you don't need death-defying highspots for a match of this kind to be appreciated. It borrowed nicely from previous HIAC's but still came well on its own. Sometimes it seems that the hatred towards Michaels and/or HHH takes precedent over judging the match on its own merits. Just IMO. If I'm not mistaken, the Executioner is Terry "Bam Bam" Gordy, of Freebirds and Miracle Violence Connection fame. He was a shell of his former self on this match. Truly pathetic.
