I seem to remember Randy Orton using that move on SD! pinning Billy Kidman. It kinda surprised me 'cause Orton was relatively new at the time. I've never seen Carlito use it, though.

It's not up to par with at least the first three Batman movies. According to boxofficemojo.com, most experts expected BB to reach the heighborhood of $100 million on its first 5 days. $73 million is below expectations. The movie cost $150 million, so I'm guessing it's not far of a strech to say it'll make its money back, but movies like X2 and Spider-Man 2 (duh) made way better business this early. Next weekend's dropoff needs to be less than 40-45% for it to have a significant theater life IMO.

If they do plan a WrestleMania DVD box set, it should come like most TV shows do: 1-4, 5-8, etc. One big-ass monster set would be too fricking expensive.
-
3 Stages of Hell is an extra on the Stone Cold What? DVD (which is also pretty good IMO) Rock vs Angle is on The Rock: Just Bring It DVD (also terrific, specially the collector's Edition with an extra disc of promos and the Vengeance 3-way) But you guys are right, NWO2001 is an awesome show.

Where are you getting your numbers for Batman & Robin from? It opened on a Friday and it made 42 million on its first three days. Its first Wednesday and Thursday would be the one from the next week. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Man, I fucked up, sorry. I thought the B&R opened on a wednesday. Still, the numbers aren't that spectacular for BB but that could change come this weekend. I remember Shrek 2 opened on a wednesday in non-spectacular fashion (doing only $21 million in two days) and ended up with $440 million overall. -
Damn, I forgot to post that one, too. Great match selections, but I liked more the main feature on Hard Knocks & Cheap Pops. And I also love WrestleMania 19.

Doesn't seem to be a good sign. ROTS made more money on the midnight showings than Batman Begins made all wednesday. And that dreadful Batman & Robin made more on its first wednesday and thursday, although it plummeted on the weeked. If the movie does good business on the weekend (I expect $55-$60 million) then it could go all the way to at least $200 when it's all said and done. -
There are quite a few releases that I think are must-buy: From The Vault: Shawn Michaels. No main feature, just full of matches but pretty much his best work like WMX and HIAC. Essential. Hard Knocks: Chris Benoit. A very good main feature and terrific matches all around, even japanese stuff. Ultimate Ric Flair Collection. If you like Flair and mostly 80s stuff then this is for you. Almost nothing boring on the whole set. Rise and Fall of ECW. Terrific overview of the promotion and pretty good matches, too. I'd also recommend to a lesser extent the Monday Night Wars (somewhat biased account but good extras), Bloodbath: Greatest Cage Matches, and Cheating Death, Stealing Life: Eddie Guerrero (excellent main feature but a little lacking in the matches.) For WWE/F PPVs there are a few, too: WMX-7, WMXX, WM21, SSlam 2001, 2002, Rumble 2000, 2001, 2004.

That's because it was much smaller that it is now. Sometime at the latter stages of Taker's reign or when The Rock won it, the belt was remade for a bigger size. I really like that belt, as it looks like a nice hybrid of the winged-eagle design and the gold belt design.
-
Growing up in Ecuador my wrestling exposure was limited to WWF stuff mostly on cable. I grew up with the WWF and never really got to watch any NWA/WCW until later years, so the winged-eagle belt wins it for me by far. Funny thing is I remember watching Bret Hart wearing the belt (on his first run) and noticing that one of the "feathers" of the eagle was broken, but it was either repaired or replaced during Yoko's reign. Anyway, my favorite overall is the Attitude Era belt, and I have it on display at my place along some other thropies.

I'm at nowhere near the level of excitement and anticipation I had for films like ROTS or even Spider-Man or X2, but reading all the positive things about it I'm definitely aiming for either saturday or sunday for watching it. -

$15,068,000.oo Opening according to Boxofficemojo.com. Pretty underwhelming I guess, and not enough to even crack the Top 10 of all-time wednesday openings. I figure the weekend take is gonna be around $60 million. And completely off-topic, but this opening doesn't bode well for F4 considering all the hype and anticipation for the Batman movie and the competition with War of the Worlds that F4 will be facing. Edited: More accurate $$ figure. -
Shawn Michaels has a terrible WM record so it's really no surprise he lost.

Starvenger, give the Director's Cut edition of Daredevil a chance if you haven't already. I found it to be eons better than the original version: no lovey-dovey crap with Elektra, a murder sub-plot, and better pacing. Sorry to go off-topic. I'm highly upset with this recent news for X3. I'll give the movie a chance, but if those rumors turn out to be true then this is bye-bye for the X-Men franchise.

Undertaker (3-disc), HHH (3-disc), Ladder Matches
pochorenella replied to Downhome's topic in The WWE Folder
That would be an awesome addition to the DVD. If it includes HIAC vs Cactus, the Iron Man match vs the Rock, Austin/HHH vs Canadian Chrises, and the 10-man tag, then consider me sold on this puppy. -

The original Kiss version or a cover band? -
Undertaker (3-disc), HHH (3-disc), Ladder Matches
pochorenella replied to Downhome's topic in The WWE Folder
I figure they'll put the footage of his first appearance on the main feature but not put the actual SurSeries match as an extra because he's only there for the first part and doesn't factor in on the final result since he's counted out mid-match. -

I personally think that Taker's best match is the HIAC vs. Shawn Michaels, but ONO might be his best wrestling match. Just my preference, really. I have the ONO match on tape and it's really quite great. -

I thought Chewbacca died in a comic-book mini-series by Dark Horse, all with the blessing of Lucas. Is that the same story or what? -

I have no idea who would give that quote. Edit: Ok got it, Russell Crowe. -

Damn, I missed it. Who were the guests on the show? That way I can track the replay faster. Comparing it to the Attack of the Clones premiere how was it? -
Thanks for the corrections, Dark Age. Although I'm pretty sure on the KOTR match vs. Jericho. I think you're mistaking it with the PPV show where Kurt Angle won. I'm referring to a qualifier match on SD! for the PPV where Brock Lesnar won. Jericho defeated Venis (actually, I think he was the Big Valvowski) to qualify against RVD in the actual PPV.
-
I don't remember exactly when it aired, somewhere between NWO 2003 and Backlash 2003, when The Rock came out and basically turned full heel on the crowd, even mocking them when they cheered after he mentioned the town's name: "Oooh, he mentioned us, yaay!!" That one led to the awesome exchanges with The Hurricane: "It was a special effect!!" Gold, Jerry. Gold.
-
What do you guys think of these? (sorry about the dates, I'm unsure of them) IMO they're some of the best I've seen out of him: Venis vs D-Lo Brown (SummerSlam 99?) Venis vs Mankind (was it No Mercy99 maybe?) Venis vs Rikishi - IC Title Cage match (SummerSlam 2000?) Venis vs Jericho - KOTR qualifier (2002?) Still, I have to put HHH way over Venis match quality-wise. Hopefully HHH's upcoming 3-disc DVD set will incluse some good, previously-unreleased stuff from his 2000-2001 golden Era, like HHH/Austin vs Benoit/Jericho and HIAC vs Cactus Jack.
