And X-Men 3's Beast will be played by...
pochorenella replied to starvenger's topic in Television & Film
Doesn't sound that bad, IMO. Alan Cumming did OK with the stunts on X2 and he isn't known particularly for his athletic prowess, either. And all major stunts could still be done with CGI so I'm not worried on that front. Regarding the supposed large cast, I think both James Marsden and Halle Berry are passing on X3, so you have room for a couple new characters, unless they cast someone else for Cyclops, since we know Phoenix/Jean Grey (Famke Janssen) is returning. Anyway, the X-Men are a TEAM, not just a couple of people so it should be a numerous cast. -

That EpIII graphic novel is still in my desk, unopened and staring at me like saying "read me, idiot, come on!!" But I've been spoiler-free this whole time and I intend to remain so until I watch the movie on friday. But damn, I want to spoil it so badly. The dark side is powerful, indeed. -

There should be a list at starwars.com, just like they had when EpII opened. For the record, I saw EpII digital at Downtown Disney, so if you're near there you're in luck. -

Damn, I have missed the entire new season of Clone Wars, so it seems I'll be a bit lost on stuff before ROTS. Hopefully I'll catch some episodes before friday. -
Oops, I meant weekend. $130 million max. It'll end up doing probably $350 in the US by the end of its run, slightly more worldwide. You're probably right, but you have to take in consideration, as CronoT said, that this is the last chapter in the SW franchise, so people will be eager to see it (at least us SW geeks, anyway). AOTC did $116 on its 4-day weekend and I'm sure ROTS will do better. if only because of higher ticket pricing. Your final gross figure seems about right, too, but I'd peg it at about $375-$385 when it's all said and done.

AOTC was released on a Thursday, as well. I know, because when I went to go see it, I was working overnight, and saw it after my Wednesday-into-Thursday night shift was over. You're right, my mistake. AOTC opened with $30 million on a Thursday and ended up with $116 million on its first 4 days for a grand total of $310 mil when its run finished. I strongly believe ROTS will surpass it. Maybe I should have posted this on the Box Office thread, but since this is the SW thread I figured it would be interesting. Man, 11pm on friday can't come soon enough. -

So any guesses on what the opening Box Office is gonna be for ROTS? If I'm not mistaken this is the first non-wednesday opening for the Star Wars franchise. Do you think this is good or bad? -
Hey, I have it! If only for the HBK vs Jannetty match, and I bought it dirt cheap to boot. About Stone Cold Truth, I also have it and I'd recommend it without question, but I'd also highly recommed Steve Austin What?? The main feature is terrific, and for bonus matches you have 3 Stages of Hell vs HHH, and a nice oldie vs Ricky Steamboat from WCW.

Fast as a shark? That's a good one but not really great or in "Balls To The Wall"'s category. I'd even place "Metal Heart" closer to "BTTW" and it's not that much of a classic either. I do like Udo's "duet" of sorts with Raven (the rock band) for "Born To Be Wild". An underrated and mostly unknown cover rendition.
-
The original "Balls To The Wall" song is by german metal band Accept, and is actually one of the great hard-rock songs of the 80s and a favorite of mine. The video was these guys playing and a building being torn apart with this metal ball (cheesy, I know.) Too bad it's pretty much the only great Accept song.

No Savage vs. Steamboat from WMIII? Bummer. I'm still getting it, though. DeepdiscountDVD has an amazing pre-order price for this one and for the Road Warriors DVD, too.

Is the 2005 PWI Wrestling Almanac out yet?
pochorenella replied to haws bah gawd's topic in General Wrestling
I finally found it on NYC at Barnes & Noble on Broadway and 8th(? I really can't remember exactly), and also saw it on the Virgin Megastore on Broadway and 13th. It really pissed me off that they trimmed it down by 20-some pages, while mantaining the price, and cut the PWI achievement Awards. Another feature I really liked and they haven't done in a while was the Top Attendance events in wrestling and when they listed all the attendance for every PPV, even those in the UK. So you can say I'm a bit disappointed on this 2005 edition. -

Ok, so who's got tickets already? I'm all set for the 11pm showing on Friday. I could've gotten tix for an 8pm showing on the same day but I'd rather go to the later one. No luck for midnight showings or the like. I really can't wait. I bought the graphic novel a couple of weeks ago but I refuse to read it until I see the movie first. That damn book is just like staring at me almost saying "read me, dammit!" -
Amazon.com also has it for $20.99 and free shipping for orders $25 or higher.

OK, I'm back from a rather long vacation and what do I find? Yoda vs Dooku rated at *1/2? WTF?? Everytime that match happened the crowds went wild at all three Arenas I saw it happen. The fans popped huge, clapped, screamed and all that shit. MARKOUT CITY, I'm telling you. The little story about the older master taking on his cocky former student is enough to be compelling as it is, and all the spots were terrific until the unfortunate no-finish. I demand a higher rating. -
Well, it seems you're in the minority 'cause the New Avengers comic is selling like crazy. It's been #1 at Diamond Comics for a few months in a row.

REVENGE OF THE SITH COMIC/NOVELIZATION Discussion
pochorenella replied to SuperJerk's topic in Literature
I believe 3PO lived with the Lars for as long as Shmi was married to Cliegg, which is about 3-5 years... I think Spiff means on ANH, when Owen basically just asked him a couple of questions and then it was off to the repair shop with Luke to get cleaned up. They didn't meet again after that. -

IIRC, he wasn't. Remember in EpI when all those astrodroids were trying to fix Queen Amidala's ship as it made its getaway? I believe a couple of them that were destroyed were fairly identical to R2 but I'd have to check the movie again to be sure. Maybe somebody that remembers this scene more vividly can clear this up. -
I also think this belt design is pretty good, I don't know why most people on this board seem to hate it and favor the "winged-eagle" design (the one Bret and Shawn used to wear) or the "Attitude" design (which I also like very much, and in fact, own a copy of.) I didn't like it that much when it first debuted since it was in a smaller version, but at the latter stages of Undertaker's reign it got bigger and looked much regal, so now I love it and I wish I had a replica of it. The new Cena belt is alright in my book. Much, much better that the US spinner Belt which I hated, but I don't mind this one. And sorry to go on a tangent, but I don't know why the WCW US Title design (the one Rude and Sting used to wear) is so well liked since it's basically a rip-off of the WWF IC Title Belt, no doubt one of the most beautiful looking belts ever.

That damn WWE, they keep making me give them my hard earned money!

Seinfeld. What episode was it that Debbe Dunning (the tool girl from Home Improvement) appeared? She was a smokin' sexy bitch, hot as hell.

WWE RAW did a 4.1 this week off hours of 4.0 and 4.1. The overrun, which featured the Batista promo, drew a year high 4.8 rating. The previous high quarter rating for RAW this year was a 4.6 for Batista's turn against Triple H. Credit PWTorch.com No doubt about it. Batista=RATINGS

Gorgeous. I've never seen Molly look better than that picture. Please post some more from that Diva mag.
