You're forgetting that that match featured Shawn Michaels prominently in the final stages, so that pretty much disqualifies it as being a MOTYC, with all that unnecessary blading, kip-ups, or no-selling that Shawn supposedly does. Remember its cool on this board to hate Shawn Michaels. I absolutely loved that match, BTW.

Oh God, please. Another discussion about the infamous Shawn Michaels nip-up that every smark loves to hate but everyone in the audience loves. Shawn The Non-Seller. When he does it the smarks complain, when some smark favorite does it, the smarks turn a blind eye. And of course, the discussion about wether Shawn did or did not carry Sid and Nash to ****+ matches never goes out of fashion on this board. The HBK haters say "nay" and the HBK supportes say "yay" as always. UP NEXT! A brand-new spanking thread about wether Shawn Michaels was the lowest drawing Champion in recent memory! That sure doesn't get old either.

People, the news also talked about Smackdown's rating, a 3.5 which is pretty good, on par (or even better) than RAW's. Shouldn't we talk about this, too, instead of some girls implants? I have a feeling we only like to discuss ratings when they're going down the toilet but when good numbers come then they go mostly ignored.

Man, do you have like, a crystal ball or something?

That's fucking classic. Awesome poster. Please God, make this match happen.

WMXX without a doubt, but I would also recommend Royal Rumble 2004 (if only for the Rumble itself and maybe HHH vs HBK), No Way Out 2004, and Backlash 2004. I'd be too bad if you only get one.

I remember that Austin vs Rock match you're mentioning, and it did huge numbers at the time, perhaps the highest rated cable TV match up until that time, so I think you may be wrong here. The crowd was going ballistic and the heat was enormous. WMXV did huge buyrates for sure, but WMX-7 I think eclipsed that both buyrate-wise and box-office-wise. The lead to that you could feel at the 2001 Royal Rumble when Austin and Rock were two of the last men remaining, and the crowd went absolutely nuts. I don't seem to remember that RAW Chicago match you're mentioning prior to WM2000. Was it Rock vs HHH or what?

ULTIMATES 2 #2 $2.99 MARVEL KNIGHTS SPIDER-MAN #10 $2.99 To answer both questions: - I haven't enjoyed Beta Ray Bill since the Walt Simonson issues, so no, I guess. - I always like those Twisted Toyfare theaters. Wizard makes it a habit to make all this "Best of" lists (covers, costumes, TPBs, animated shows, etc) and they're usually quite enjoyable. Wonder what'll be the best toy, PS2?

I'm still waiting for someone to post what rating Orton vs HHH had. That was the purpose of this thread, right?

Dream Matches in the WWE (or wrestling in general)
pochorenella replied to zyn081's topic in The WWE Folder
They did wrestle on TV, I believe on either Velocity or Smackdown. Not sure if Lesnar was Champ (I think he was), but the finish was really cool: Orton went for his frog cross-body, Lesnar caught him but with the momentum kept rolling backwards, got up (never letting Orton go) and F5'd him. As for my dream matches, I like to keep it in the realm of high possibility, so no Bret Hart, Stone Cold, or Hogan. And I hate Goldberg so no way he's on my list: HBK vs Angle or Eddie or Rock. Maybe even Rey. RVD vs Rey AJ vs Benoit or Angle or Eddie. Lesnar vs Batista (I believe this happened in OVW?) -
Fantastic 4 Film Changed due to Incredibles...

The fight with the Hulk Dogs also put it down a notch also. Actually, I thought that was a great fight that put across how savage the Hulk could really be. Adding a little more to the success/non-success of the Hulk movie: The movie cost around $135 million to make and it just grossed that same amount at the US box office. I remember it opened huge with $55 million, so they proyected well above $200 mil total gross and it came way short due to whatever reason (slow first 30 minutes with no Hulk, weak main villain, weak final fight). Anyway, I liked the movie and its comic book style of storytelling. If there's one thing I really disliked was how wimpy Betty Ross was in front of her father. She basically let him push her around and he did whatever he pleased with Bruce and she did mostly nothing to help him. If I were Banner I'd dump her ass. Then again, a woman that hot... -
Are those the only Jedi left? Can't wait for the movie.

Yes, I agree. Right after I saw the movie I got worried that FF would be considered a rip-off by non-comics fans. I remember when Roeper reviewed the first X-Men movie and basically called Wolverine a Freddy Krueger-ripoff, which is totally an insane thing to say. Still, I have faith in the FF movie. Hopefully it'll be a terrific movie that does very well. -

The Punisher grossed over $35-40 million, out of $30 million or so budget, so you can call it whatever you wish to. Also, the DVD was a top seller, so I'm inclined to call it a mild success. And I wouldn't exactly call Daredevil a failure. It cost $70 million to make and it made $105 million in the US alone, so I'd call it a mild success also. Not every superhero movie can do the bussiness that Spidey or X-Men movies do. -
If they're really cheap I say get them all.

The previous edition is single disc only about half the chapters you listed, no triple threat match from Vengeance. The RVD/Rock match can be accessed by pushing left twice on the Lilian chapter (that goes for both editions.)

THE SMARTMARKS FEAR HBK. Kudos to anyone who manages to show that sign on a WWE show.

Lovecraft, you're missing Phantom of the Opera's figures, otherwise, great job with the list. Boy, that Polar Express has some legs. When it opened I never figured it would do the numbers it has now, and still have some ways to go.

Not really. They re-edited the movie so the story didn't center around Matt Murdock/Daredevil's relationship with Elektra but rather his struggle to cope with the burden of being a lawyer that hepls the common man in the day and a vigilante at night. The new murder subplot takes it into that new direction. He does have a meeting with father Everett that doesn't take place in the confessionary that also helps to understand a little better what Murdock's all about, also without revealing that the father knew about his identity, which he ultimately finds out when he appers in the church all messed up and he takes his mask off. Also, both Ben Urich and Wilson Fisk have a little more to do in the movie and it makes more sense why Kingpin is so feared and how Urich was able to play such an important part in his downfall while also working on his other story about finding out who Daredevil really was. Really the only scenes missing are the confessionary scene (replaced by the one I talked about) and the scene where Matt and Elektra have sex, which really makes the following scene (when Matt goes to his office all depressed) make more sense.

That's pretty much all he says on the movies, too.

*bump* Just got finished watching the new Director's Cut DVD and I just have one word for it: AWESOME!!! Thirty minutes of new material and somewhat new editing make up for a far better movie IMO. Now, I really liked the theatrical cut, but like the Director said in the featturette, it felt a little more like a revenge movie than a true DD story. With the new murder subplot with Coolio the movie gains new life and has more purpose. Everything makes more sense now, like the Kingpin's reputation and his subsequent downfall. It really felt like a true DareDevil graphic novel. Why do the movie execs feel like they have to castrate something as good as this cut is beyond me. And the new R rating? Totally unnecessary since there's just a few more curse words here and there and the added voilence is really more extended fight sequences. Trust me, you'll feel like you've watched a whole different movie. A better movie. An awesome movie. Give it a chance.

Get them all, I say. The Best of Confidential also has the Montreal screwjob match IIRC, so that's a must. And the Stone Cold one has the famous botched piledriver match from SummerSlam 97 so that's also essential. As far as the best DVD so far, I'll say the Benoit DVD. Although as a huge HBK fan I'm still very fond of his DVD. Eddie's DVD is great, specially the main feature but the matches are somewhat lacking IMO.

What I heard was that Mark Millar was supposed to helm the relaunch of the Thor title, but instead opted to go back to Ultimate Fantastic Four so his stint on Thor was put on hold. He said he had a wonderful layout for Thor with the help of J.M. Stracinsky (sp?) but that it could wait a while. No mention of Gaiman anywhere, at least on this Newsarama article I read.

Nope. Carlos Pacheco and Jesús Merino are doing the art right now. Carlos is a great artist. I loved his work on Fantastic Four. Agreed. Carlos Pacheco I believe is very underrated. Terrific work on F4 vol.1 towards the end of the series, Excalibur before that. Awesome work on Avengers Forever, then back to F4 vol.3 where he even co-plotted IIRC. JLA/JSA Virtue & Vice also had some terrific work of his. I wish Marvel had kept him, he has that certain style that I think fits the Marvel heroes better. So Superman/Batman is not simply riding on the coattails of Michael Turner and Jeph Loeb anymore? Or Ed McGuiness for that matter? There goes my theory that that title sells mostly on creator-name. Then again, that theory holds true for Superman with Jim Lee. A Top 10 selling title at the moment, while the other titles languish below Top 40.

Avengers are experiencing their highest chart positions with the "Chaos" storyline that a lot of folks seem to hate with a passion, but still the title is selling strongly so someone must like it. Personally, I'm on the fence but I'm willing to give it a try and see what happens after New Avenger's first storyarc concludes. BTW, I'm intrigued to see what kind of sales/chart position NA#1 gets. Should Iron Man vol.4 #1 chart debut be considered a success or a disappointment? And I think Astonishing XM deserves those rankings. It's the best X-Men title out now and some of the best I've read/seen in a while, so I'm a bit surprised Superman/Batman beat them. Is Michael Turner still in that book?
