Shawn Michaels injured in Triple Threat Match
pochorenella replied to Kurt Angle Mark's topic in The WWE Folder
You pose a very valid question that requires further analysis. Live crowds love him, yet he's not a sure-fire draw. You could hear the crowds in England were on fire for him on RAW for example, and it seems he won the voting legit yesterday. I couldn't really give an answer to that, but the fact that he gives great matches to this day is undeniable and that was what I was pointing out. -

Correct. But also it doesn't mean he'll go back to his old ways today. What he did before should have no influence on what he's doing today, specially if it hasn't been reported he's doing the least bit wrond nowadays. And I seem to remember a few more good-to-great performances from Shawn in the last year. He was terrific on last year's Survivor Series, literally making the match. Two more ****+ one on one bouts with Benoit this year, screwy finishes notwithstanding. The Kane match was probably the best on the Unforgiven card along with Trips vs Orton (altough that could be my personal taste). And this year he was out with an "injury" for a few months, so it's not like he was on all PPVs. Anyway, fixed voting or not (I believe it wasn't), he got the World Title shot yesterday and gave a gutsy performance by all accounts, so I believe he's still got gas left in the tank. -

That "has-been" as you call him is still a better worker than 95% of the roster, and this year only Benoit and maybe Eddie have had better performances, even at his "old age" and with his receding hairline (what does that have to do with anything?) What wrestler has he held down this year, or last year for that matter? What future main-eventer do you want him to put over? You can't logically blame him for the stuff he did almost 8-10 years ago and then use that as basis for criticism now. You don't want a Bad Blood repeat, fine, don't vote for him. Hell, he might still win the vote and maybe won't be able to make it to the show. Bottom line, he's still mighty popular with the fans (even if he's somewhat hated by some in the IWC and the majority of Bret Hart supporters) and in the ring few are better. A "has-been?" I don't think so, my friend. -
I got my ticket on Ebay, so I see no way someone would call me about the show. Weird.

Shawn Michaels injured in Triple Threat Match

It figures that since it's Shawn Michaels the one with the serious injury some people are making fun of him. I'm a big Benoit fan, too, but I want to check what happens if, God forbid, Benoit gets injured again. This board would go down drowned in tears with people going "Come back/Get well soon, Chris". I for one I'm sorry that Shawn got injured and hope for a speedy recovery. If he can't perform at an acceptable level tonight then remove him from contention. I'm still voting for Benoit anyway. -

Nice tip, thanks. I'm picking up Angel Season 1 right now.

I've been a long time amazon.com shopper and I've never had a complaint, until now. My SummerSlam 2004 DVD seems to be on shipping limbo, since it supposedly shipped almost 10 days ago and has yet to arrive (when I do the tracking it says "in-transit"). Also, all Marvel TPBs no longer have any discount, which pisses me off to no end. They used to have that sweet 30% off, and I buyed a lot of those. Other than that, I strongly recommend them.

I had the same feeling, too. I could be picky and bitch and moan about those squares surrounding the Tie Fighters in ANH or those black spots on the Emperor's cloak on ROTJ, but I'm not. It's just so amazing to watch all these movies with such picture quality and awesome sound. Next up, I'm watching them all agin just with commentary, and maybe after that I'll watch them all with spanish audio, too.

Got it, thanks.

Thanks, Downhome. Where can I download it? The cartoon part, of course.

Actually, I'm pretty sure the dual-sided lightsaber made its first appearance years ago in one of Dark Horse's Star Wars comics, but I can't remember which one. In another topic: Can someone please post Easter Eggs for the DVDs or maybe a link? Thanks.

I don't know how many people here have actually seen that SW Holiday Special, but from what I remember it had a really cool cartoon segment with what I believe was the very first appearance of Boba Fett. Luke and Han got sick or something, Boba Fett appeared and told Chewie he had to hang them both upside down so blood would rush to their heads and slow the sickness. Anyway, it came across that Fett was actually working for the Empire, Chewie found out and busted him (don't remember how, really), Luke and Han were cured and that was that. I'd love to see that again.

Quick question then. Why doesn't either Owen or Beru remember C-3PO? R2, I can understand, he wasn't around them all that much, but C3P0 lived them for what a couple of years? The only thing I can think of is that they act like they don't know him to sheild Luke from his father's past, but that seems rather flimsy to me. Maybe because C-3PO's color scheme was different in Episode II? Or he did know, and just pretended that he didn't, due to the fact that he possibly knew 3PO had his memory erased. When Uncle Owen saw the droid lineup he immediately recognized 3PO as a protocol droid but not as 3PO, maybe 'cause of his color, since there are so many similar ones around. Right after that he gave both R2 and 3PO to Luke to get them fixed and cleaned and that's when the droids introduced themselves to Luke, they never did to Uncle Owen or Aunt Beru, for that matter. Luke went to the dinner table and left right after to find that R2 escaped and grabbed 3PO to find him immediately the next morning when his Uncle was asking if he took both droids. After that, the Empire came looking for the droids and killed both Owen and Beru. In conclusion: Neither Beru nor Owen knew who those droids were.

Damn. I'll have to get those issues, then. Sounds interesting to say the least.

I haven't heard about an EpIII trailer being out there. I'm positive the first teaser will be shown at theaters on November or December. Still, I could be wrong. Otherwise, I heartly recommend you buy the box set, Dama, and watch the Return of Vader featurette.

My favorite line from the song is "I got my Kiss records out." Awesome. "We're all alright! We're all alright! Hello, Wisconsin!"

Interesting tidbit. I'll look for it when I watch the movie again. Is it exactly like the one in the Shadows of the Empire comics?

I hven't followed Amazing S-M since the last Ezequiel storyline, so I have to ask: Is this baby stuff confirmed or is there a chance that Norman is just screwing with Peter's head as he always does?

Congrats to Chris Benoit and Eddie Guerrero for those high positions, they're more than deserved this time around. I was sure they would place in those exact positions, and the Top 10 looks pretty nice even if I don't follow Puro that much so I don't know what Kobashi or Kawada have done this year. From a quick glance, Jeff Jarret is way too high as always. Just because he holds that devalued NWA Title and holds on to it by way of guitar shots and constant interfering doesn't make him Top 15 material. He's never had a match on TNA that could even approach the greatness of his match vs HBK on IYH II, the best of his career.

Conan O'Brien to take over Tonight Show in 2009!
pochorenella replied to Eclipse's topic in Television & Film
Agreed. If the change happens, he better keep Max Weinberg, Triumph, the Masturbating Bear, the Lever, and everything else. Basically, just a higher-budget version of his shows with better guests. Leno sucks so much IMO, I can't wait to see him gone. -
I say Ultimate Spider-Man. It's been consistently terrific from the very beginning and has yet to disappoint. The Ultimates vol.1 (issues 1 - 12)rocked my world, but I have yet to pick up any issue from vol.2 (is it out yet? I dunno), so Spider-Man wins by sheer issue numbers. UXM is quite enjoyable, and I've yet to pick up U Nightmare.

Just heard/saw on TV that total sales on the first day of release were over $150 million, but it could be combined sales with SW: Battlefront. Still, is this a record or something? Also, my DVDs arrived today, so this weekend is officially Star Wars weekend at my place (mixed with a little Triumph the Insult Comic Dog for some comic relief.)
