Star Wars Trilogy DVD First Look

I'll hold off judgment until I actually watch the DVDs, but I'll check the guy's review. Actually I don't see what the big deal is, since it's a 30 second or so shot. It's not like when Greedo shot first, you know.

    "Come Poop with Me CD/DVD"

There's a bonus DVD that comes with the Come Poop... CD, so it's strange that you say that. Anyways, I'm a big Triumph fan and the CD is pretty funny, with the extra DVD being a nice bonus. The new Triumph DVD I already ordered and looks to be awesome. The SWEpI thing will leave you gasping for air after laughing so much. I dowloaded it from kazaa a while ago but having it now on DVD is terrific. Both the CD and the DVD I believe will be mostly enjoyed by fans but for non-fans they could give it a go, I think they'll like it. "Cats are Cunts" is the best track, IMO.

    Box Office Top Ten

Hero still took a 51% hit. That's a shame. Bourne Supremacy only dipped 11%? Damn impressive, good for Matt Damon. I'm happy it's surpassing that I Robot thing. Spider-Man 2 nowhere near the top 20 it seems, but it should be within a week or so of matching Passion of the Christ ($370 million) but still $7 million shy of LOTR3. Will it match it?

Singer Ditches "X3" And Is Set To Direct "Superman

Sorry to go off topic, but is Singer still doing his reported 12 issue Ultimate X-Men run for the comics?

    ecw rise and fall dvd

I own/have seen almost all this matches except Taz vs Bigelow and Sabu vs Scorpio. Wether I buy this DVD or not will now depend on the main feature itself, but it seems there should be more content, given that it's a 2 disc 6 hour set.

4 Disc 10 Hour Live Aid DVD Set out next month

I remember watching some of it on TV way back and it really felt as a very special thing, and I always regretted not recording it, so its nice to see it released, although it would depend on the price tag if I'm buying it or not. The only other concert of this magnitude that I felt strongly about was the Freddy Mercury tribute, but I do have a copy of that one.

    Hero

Being of chinese heritage myself, I'm really lookig forward to this movie. I do like Jet Li movies, even his Black Mask stuff, and Crouching Tiger is one of my favorite movies of all time, so you can see where I'm coming from. Hero has been available on DVD as an import for quite some time but I always had hope it would be released. Hopefully I'll see the movie real soon.

    John Byrne

I don't recall Byrne doing "Fourth World" stuff that much, other than that big DC crossover mini-series. Walt Simonson was the one that always seemed to have a new series about it, be it Orion or whatever. Byrne had great runs on many series, as an artist and as a writer. His FF work is perhaps the best of his career. Just pick up any of the Visionaries TPBs for proof. Those 3 issues of Avengers he did way back (Avengers vs Count Nefaria) still give me goosebumps when I read them (C'mon, Marvel, do a TPB of it NOW!!). He did a good job IMO with Iron Man (the Dragon Seed saga), and I don't think I have to remind anyone about his X-Men work. That said, I do believe his skills have diminished at an exponential rate, both as a writer and as an artist (although he's still quite decent in that Neal Adams-esque way, like someone else said, but he needs a good inker). That crap he put out with S-M:Chapter One with the Bulglar literally unmasking to Spidey and saying "hey, remember me?" had me reaching for the barf bag. All his work in recent years has been really mediocre and I wouldn't come near his JLA stuff if my life depended on it. I'll just go and remember Byrne as a man who gave me classic stuff from some of my favorite comics and completely erase from my mind anything he's done in the last decade or so.

    New Avengers Lineup Announced

Y2Jerk, those are great creative teams, no doubt. I just happen to think the Busiek/Perez run gave the fans exactly what they craved for: Terrific stories, the best lineup, great sub-plots, awesome art, badass villains. They basically saved the Avengers from the mediocrity of the mid-to late 90s.

What they COULD do with Kidman/Chavo

Not to go against everyone here, but actually I wanted first to see a tables match between Kidman/London and the Dudleys. You know, to give the champs the rub, a la RR2000 (Hardys vs Dudleys). Then after that you could have new feuds. Still, Chavo/Noble vs London/Kidman for PPV (are you sure No Mercy is a SD! PPV?) sounds sweet.

Star Wars Episode III Title Announced

Nothing really new with those spoilers, that info has been widely known for some time (for us SW geeks, anyway) so spoil away.

    Astonishing X-Men #4...DAAAYUMMM!

I'm on the fence about this. On one hand, Peter's death was truly a special moment and extremely well done and significant. One the other, Colossus is a widely loved character that a lot of people miss (you just had to hear the "ooohs" and "aaahs" when he briefly appeared on X2), and Joss Whedon's been doing a terrific job so far, so I'm not sure. I've yet to pick up the comic but I hope at the very least his comeback is done well.

    I have a question

Another bunch of Jedi were killed by General Grievous (sp?) in the Clone Wars animated series, so there shouldn't be that many come EPIII.

    War of the Worlds...

I have to agree somewhat on this. Truman is a movie totally before its time and I get the feeling it doesn't get the recognition it truly deserves as a classic movie. That it didn't get nominated was a travesty, ditto for Jim Carrey (although he did win the Golden Globe.) Now, if I have to balance it with Saving Private Ryan, I have to go with the war epic. One of my all-time favorites, for sure, and only in the Academy Awards Bizarro World not deserving of a Best Picture Oscar, specially against Shakespeare in Love (which I really enjoyed, mind you.) Spielberg is a GREAT director, certainly more complete than Lucas, although he was good on SW:ANH and on American Graffitti. Still, that doesn't seem his forté, that being the writing (SW, Indiana Jones, AG). Now his dialogues (SW1, SW2): Ugh.

That's just too much fucking money. I've yet to come up with the cash to buy Simpsons Season 4, let alone this.

    War of the Worlds...

Didn't Spider-Man 2 have a $200 million budget? That's higher than Titanic's (non-inflation adjusted, mind you), so why do they keep saying Titanic is the most expensive? Isn't Elizabeth Taylor's Cleopatra recognized as THE most expensive movie ever (inflation adjusted) or is there another one I'm missing? Back on topic, Cruise + Spielberg again should be good. Minority Report had a bad ending but that doesn't mean the movie wasn't terrific. WOTW could be another big hit in the right hands, so fuck MI3 (although I was looking forward to Scarlett Johanson as a sexy spy.)

    New Avengers Lineup Announced

Patience, little grasshopper, patience... BTW, I still have my Avengers #500 sitting there waiting to be read, but with all the shit being reported I've still to muster the strenght to pick it up.
  23. Many thanks. I was beginning to think that they required suits or the like, but if it's just shirt and slacks then it's not that bad, I guess.
  24. Somebody please link me to the thread where they explain this WWE dress code. I'd like to know what all that stupidity is all about, thanks.
