    New Avengers Lineup Announced

Busiek. Again. Along with George Perez. Greatest Creative Team Ever.

    Best Summerslam

It was either 2000 or 2002 for me. And even though I just rewatched SS2000, I'll vote for 2002. I think the return of HBK makes it extra special for me. Wow, I just produced a tie with 1998. All three are pretty close IMO.

    "The Fame-Ass-Er" (Famouser?)

They should just call it by its original WWF name: "Rocker Dropper."

    What's Shipping

Nice to see this back. ULTIMATE SPIDER-MAN #64 $2.25 X-MEN #160 $2.25 I'm not getting Supreme Power #12 'cause I already planned for the TPB. The first one was so good IMO, I just had to have the second arc on TPB, too, to read in one sitting.

How do you think WWE will end the Kane/Lita angle?

Exactly. She was never even pregnant. Lita just wanted to punish Matt for all that shit those months ago when he dumped her.

    RAW House Show 8/7 REPORT

I think the question in everybody's mind is: Did you/Will you hook up with the girl?? The very least you could do is ask for her phone number.
  8. I've seen none of the WCW matches Birdman listed, nor the ECW match, I'm sorry to say, so my knowledge is kinda limited. Having said that: 1) HHH vs Benoit vs Michaels - WMXX (without a doubt) 2) Benoit vs HHH vs Michaels - Backlash 2004 3) Low-Ki vs Daniels vs Danielson - ROH Era of Honor Begins 4) Edge/Christian vs Hardys vs Dudleys - TLCI SummerSlam 2000 5) Undertaker vs Rock vs Angle - WWE Vengeance 2002 6) Lynn vs Styles vs Low-Ki - NWA TNA (one of their firsts shows, can't place date) I've edited my list with the Backlash rematch and the first TLC. TLCII also ranks highly with me, but I won't list it so I'm not too repetitive.

    It seems everyone hates.....

I still have that red cartridge SNES game stashed somewhere. I was fun as hell to play but IIRC I bet it within a couple of weeks. As for the story, I still read it from time to time (I have the TPB) and I have to admit time has not been kind to it. I really enjoyed it at first, but as someone else said before, the dialogue is extremely corny (specially regarding Carnage) and the story runs just too damn long. I wouldn't exactly call it a total crapfest but I wouldn't recommend it either. Maybe just read it once if you're not a fan.

    Lamest hero.

For those who said Moon Knight, I'm no fan of his, but if handled right he could be pretty cool in a Batman kind of way, being that he's almost a Bats rip-off. And his costume is the shits. As for Hawkman, I liked his 70's cartoon portrayal where he had this claw on his right hand that could shoot about four types of energy beams. I vote for Martian Manhunter. Hugely overrated IMO.

Yes, I remember that friendly race they had. I'm sure the Flash could outrun her if push comes to shove, it's just that she's supposed to have the speed of a god (the god of speed, no less) so you have to wonder.

Ok, again, I'm no DC expert. I used to read tons of DC stuff pre-crisis, so I have a bit of knowledge there, but afterwards I switched to Marvel and I haven't looked back since. I'm not trying to stir up shit here. I already said I went off-topic and I apologize for it. Having said that, I'll try to explain my points. The relation between Supes and the JLA? Early JLA stories had Supes be a key member in their exploits. After the Man of Steel series, when Kal-El was rocketed to Earth as a fetus (he was literally "born" on earth), it was stablished that Superman was no longer there at that time so they changed it and changed the original roster to that of Black Canary (who I believe replaced Wonder Woman), GL, Flash, the Martian, and someone else I'm forgetting (Aquaman?). The non-appearence of Supes until later also dramatically changed the Legion of Super Heroes, since there no longer was a Superboy in current continuity (Superman no longer used the suit as a teen) to inspire their formation. And wasn't Joe Kelly trying to change his origins with Krypton not being what he thought it was or something a couple of years ago? Wonder Woman I do believe was changed after Crisis. She was no longer an Amazon-born warrior, but was made out of clay that the gods gave life to. At some point after that it was stablished she had different powers: she could fly, was as fast as the Flash (the speed of Hermes) and as strong as Hercules. No Steve Trevor or the likes. Aquaman was a guy (Arthur Curry, I believe was his original name)born out of atlantean and normal parents (I believe his father was human and his mother atlantean). His father then was made to be a Poseidon-like being with powers over the ocean (his soul/spirit inhabited this artificial body with all those powers). After that his origins were changed (Time & Tide mini-series maybe?) Peter David made him to be all moody and with anger-management issues, and a couple of years ago his powers were changed and now he can control not only fish but humans as well. JSA were around for WWII but somehow they never got much older, or they did get older but managed to regain their youth somehow. I don't have all the facts here so I can't elaborate more. Thing is somehow when they interacted with other DC heroes sometime they looked as young and sometimes they looked like their grandparents. The Captain Marvel family I do believe interacted with the rest of DC, but this was years ago so my memory might be playing tricks on me. Mr Zsasz, I'm sure your an expert on DC, so if you can correct/elaborate on anything I've written, feel free to do so. Let's keep it friendly here and help this thread to keep going with a nice discussion. Too bad it got mixed with the Rogues gallery topic.

All clear on the Joker issue. Thanks, Zsasz. Regarding the CRISIS vs HEROES REBORN thingie: HR was truly a fucked up concept, but by no means it is considered as the official origin stories of the Avengers, FF, Hulk, Cap, etc. It was just a pocket Universe storyline, they came back, end of story. Stupid? yes. Canon? No. Final Chapter (that's the return of Norman Osborne, right?) was a necessity used to clean up the Clone saga mess once and for all. For all the hate this storyline seems to get, it's surprising to find that it did pretty well sales-wise. Another stupid move by Marvel, but I think they saw that as the only way to salvage all the mess. Not to say that I agree with it, mind you. Crisis cleaned up the slate for many, many DC characters alright, but the thing is that they still kept messing with major characters years after the fact and repeatedly. Let's take the JLA, for example. That reworking I understand, no prob. Wonder Woman? Sure. Supes? OK. But why keep messing with the boy scout's origin? Aquaman and Hawkman are just two of the biggest offenders here. The Legion of SH, the JSA, both give me headaches. And let's not even talk about Zero Hour. And wasn't Cap Marvel already in DC continuity before Crisis? Continuity-wise, DC is just a huge mess. Marvel used to be very tight, but lately they've been screwing up and if they continue this way they could end up just as bad.

The Classics Collection: Bret Hart DVD

The match vs LOD is nothing extraordinary. It's decent match, LOD wins when Animal powerslams Bret after the Anvil tried a Rocket Launcher. The original Bret vs HBK is pretty good, but may be underwhelming to some people 'cause it has few, if any, highspots and the drama comes from the climbing to get the belt.

The OAO Raw Thread - 7/26/04 - 60 Minute Iron Man

Ummm, yeah he did. Austin needed a face-turned Mike Tyson and a super-fast three count to beat HBK at WMXIV. He needed Vince and 8 gazillion chairshots to beat The Rock at WMX-7 (and don't give me any "he was a heel" crap. He was a FACE.) He needed Foley as special ref at WMXV. Mick Foley needed Austin and all of DX to beat the Rock for his first Title. The Rock himself was aided several times, as covered by another poster here. Triple H's face Title run lasted all of a single month (maybe a few days less than that) so that's irrelevant, it was just one win. Benoit needed no help at WMXX or at Backlash or at Bad Blood, so that's three times as much as HHH's "face run." So please people, stop your bitching.

    Star Wars DVD's

Credit for this goes to starwars.com: Clone Wars Micro-series on DVD -- The Emmy-nominated series one and two of Clone Wars will be coming to DVD from Lucasfilm and 20th Century Fox Home Video in spring 2005, around the same time as the debut of the third season of Star Wars: Clone Wars on Cartoon Network. Ewoks and Droids on DVD -- At the end of 2004, Lucasfilm and 20th Century Fox Home Video will release the 1980s Saturday morning animated adventures of Ewoks and Droids, as well as the live-action television movies The Ewok Adventure and Ewoks: The Battle for Endor. So I guess I was wrong with the Clone Wars DVDs coming out this year. And a third season next year? Hell Yeah!

So he's basically like Wolverine (pre Origin), being that he doesn't have a definitive origin story? Does that mean that he was never the Red Hood with that funky helmet and cape? Please explain a little, Zsasz, thanks. Thing is, tons of DC characters (heroes and villains alike) have had their origin stories reworked, retooled, remade, retold over the years. Look at Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Hawkman, even Supes. The villains are no exception so it stands to figure that most origins and characters have been deepened/re-explained somewhat for modern audiences. Most Marvel characters origins (heroes and villains) got it right the first time around so no tweeking has been necessary, and that's a testament to their longevity. I hate it when they start retelling origin stories over and over again, specially if you've been following and reading all of them for several years like myself. Think I went off-topic a bit there but I had to say it.

I'm no Batman expert by any means, so if I'm wrong please correct me. I believe the Joker was EXTREMELY fleshened out very late in his carrer, as when he first appeared he was just a two-bit thief by the name Red Hood, complete with Mandrake-like costume and cape and a vase over his head. He was running away from Bats and jumped onto some chemichals (his mask allowed him to breathe) and swam away. Later when he got home he realized the chemichals scarred his face to that eternal smile and made his skin chalk-white. He went crazy because of it and that was that. No wife, no babies, no child abuse. Now that's the origin story I remember to have read in the seventies, so maybe it was on the Killing Joke that they deepened his origins or when exactly? Same with Two-Face. He was a handsome DA nicknamed Apollo (?!?) or something because he was so handsome, but that courtroom incident with the acid made him go over the edge. He took that double-faced silver coin, which was something like evidence in the case he was pursuing at that time, and then with a knife(?!?) he scarred one side of the coin to make it like him or something. Again, no psychodrama or anything like that. But like I said, that was the seventies (Gee, I'm giving my age away, huh?) so I'm sure his story was tweeked somewhat over time.

    fantasy dvd

There's a "Rise and Fall of ECW" DVD coming out in November, and I bet they include at least one of the RVD vs Lynn matches. As for me, I'd like to see a "History of Tag Teams" or "History of the WWF Tag Title" DVD. They already announced a "History of the Title" DVD (pretty ambiguos, the WWE Title?) for December, so it seems likely they could do it for the Tag belts. Ditto for the I-C Title. As for what matches I'd wish they include, I'll come up with a few later.
