Me too: New X-Men #155, $2.25 Spider-Man Blue TPB, $14.99 Ultimate Spider-Man #56, $2.25 Uncanny X-Men #442, $2.25

This was HHH's first PPV since coming back and the Rumble match has always proven to be a big draw. Plus it also had Ric Flair's first match in 10 months and I'm sure that also helped spike up the buyrates. Rock v. Jericho was still very hot at the time and of course... Everyone knew Regal was going to win the title. So you're saying that the UNDERCARD actually matters when it comes to ordering a PPV and not just the Main Event alone? [/sarcasm] So many people on this board seem ready to point the guilt to whomever was featured as the Main Event on a particular low-buyrate PPV **cough**ShawnMichaels**cough** and forget that the undercard is also highly important. I mean, of course certain people have proven to draw no matter what, but we can't give absolute praise or guilt to a single wrestler for the success or failure of a PPV. Hogan, Austin, Rock, Flair, those people are draws no matter what. For most other wrestlers I'm sure it helped to have a strong overall show.

Haven't been to that many that truly count, so other than those Battle of the Bands type shows: Heart back in 1986, New Jersey Medowlands Bon Jovi in 1995(?), Estadio Atahualpa, Quito, Ecuador Kiss in 1997, MSG, New York Def Leppard in 1997, Coliseo RumiƱahui, Quito, Ecuador Kiss/Aerosmith, August 2003, Miami, Florida

I liked the first single they released, so I sampled the CD and thought it was ok so I bought it. Haven't got a chance to listen to it in its entirety but so far it's pretty good funky-rock music. And hey, Conan O'Brien had them on his show, and you know he's not one to feature crappy boy bands or the like.

I saw the movie last week and it truly deserves all the praise it's getting. It's That Damn Good . Maybe not my favorite movie ever, but still, Oscar-caliber performances from Carrey and Winslet. First Being John Malkovich, then Adaptation, now Eternal Sunshine..., this Kauffman dude can really write terriffic movies, huh?

Ditto. Ultimates #13 (resolicited), $3.50 That's about it.
-
I liked DD, too. Bummer about the delay.

I see they've given Eric Singer a completely new Cat Outfit, unless I'm mistaken. Any official news as to why they didn't renew with Peter Criss?
-
What's the opening date for this movie, please?

Pretty good song, but my favorite has to be "Rainbow in the Dark". Dio was a very powerful singer, no doubt, but other than Heaven and Hell his work doesn't match what Ozzy did with Sabbath, like the Black Sabbath and Paranoid albums. And his solo stuff? Blizzard of Ozz is so much better than Holy Diver it's scary. It's not that I don't like Dio, I happen to still own that live concert VHS release he had from about 20 years back, and it's not a bad show. He's a terrific singer and Vivian Campbell could really go back then, only the drummer and bassist I thought were shit.

I just wanted Xizor to get it on with Leia. After that he was just disposable. Admiral Thrawn is/was a much better character with longer-lasting repercussions.
-
That's a valid point. I also didn't like the Dash Rendar character, I thought he was a throwaway and a bad attempt to recreate Solo. My only knowledge of the Shadows story comes from the comic book version, so I'm not sure if you got to peek inside Vader's mind a bit more in the novelization. But on the comics I found that an interesting development, since you can see that Vader's got a different agenda than what the Emperor asks of him.

I'll be there at MSG, section 97 IIRC. This'll be my third Mania after 2000 and X-7. I'm sure it's gonna be a terrific show and I can't wait for sunday.

Star Wars novels made into movies...
pochorenella replied to Masked Man of Mystery's topic in Literature
The Thrawn Trilogy of novels and the Shadows of the Empire novel would be extremely cool, IMO. But the thing is that all of the original cast would be needed, so it'd be highly improbable for Lucas to make them. Maybe in animated version? -
I seem to remember an old thread that listed most (if not all) of this supposed changes and tweaks, but they were quickly dismissed as purely speculation and rumors. I guess we'll have to wait for the official Lucas spokeperson or watch starwars.com for confirmed news.

The One and Only WrestleMania predictions thread
pochorenella replied to The Ghost of bps21's topic in The WWE Folder
There you have it I agree with everything here, except in the Cruiser match. I believe Chavo will retain. Not that I want him to, but I expect he will. And I will be there LIVE! LIVE! LIVE! -
My votes: Alex Ross (Batman: War On Crime, Marvels, Kingdom Come) Mark Bagley (Thunderbolts, Ultimate Spider-Man Jim Lee (Batman, X-Men) Steve Dillon (Preacher and the second Marvel Knights Punisher mini-series). George Perez (Avengers, Teen Titans, Crisis, some Marvel/DC crossover) Jack Kirby (Avengers, FF, X-Men, New Gods) The king rules all. Darrick Robertson (New Warriors, Transmetropolitan) Don't care for either one John Romita, Jr (Amazing Spider-Man, Inc. Hulk) Jae Lee (Inhumans, Fantastic 4 1234) I hate Swan Joe Madureira (although I really like both guys here) Ed McGuiness (Thundercats, Superman) Barry Windsor-Smith (Conan, Rune) Marc Silvestri (The Darkness) Tom Grummett (Superboy, Power Company, Robin) Joe Orlando (Tales from teh Crypt) vs. Berni Wrightson (Swamp Thing) Don't know either one Wally Wood (Daredevil, lots of EC stuff) Frank Quitely (Ultimate X-Men) Sorry, Miller... Dan Jurgens (Superman) For lack of a better choice... Will Eisner--The Spirit Neal Adams - X-men, Avengers Steve Ditko - Spider-man, Dr. Strange Mike Wieringo (Flash, Tellos, Fantastic Four) I know Steranko is an innovator, but I'm not that familiar with his work, so... Joe Kubert - Hawkman, Sgt. Rock John Buscema (Savage Sword of Conan, Silver Surfer) Todd McFarlane (Spawn, Spider-man) What gives with the repeat nominations?

The OAO Oscar Predictions Thread
pochorenella replied to Lord of The Curry's topic in Television & Film
Have to agrre somewhat regarding The Truman Show. Truly a one of a kind movie with superb performances by Jim Carrey and Ed Harris. It was really criminal the way the Academy ignored this film. But it wasn't nominated, so on that front I believe Private Ryan should have won. Platoon and Full Metal Jacket are really classic films that no doubt will stand the test of time, but for my money Private Ryan had it all. I'll never get tired of watching it. Shakespeare in Love was a nice little movie but not Best Picture Oscar, IMO. I enjoyed it, though, but haven't seen it again. -
The OAO Oscar Predictions Thread
pochorenella replied to Lord of The Curry's topic in Television & Film
That was a complete outrage. Private Ryan should have won, no doubt. One of the best movies ever, IMO. Now that the Oscars are over, who could've thought about a LOTR Oscar sweep? They won in EVERY CATEGORY they were nominated for. I expected Best Picture and Director, but not every fricking category! -
They should do the adjusted money gross for the Worldwide numbers, because it's no longer accurate anymore. Star Wars alone has 1 billion or so from US gross, way better than Titanic. If you add worldwide numbers then I'm sure it'll be at least #2. Gone With the Wind is the actual top-grossing movie ever in the US, with adjusted figures.

Marvel, Lions Gate Teaming For Punisher 2,
pochorenella replied to EdwardKnoxII's topic in Television & Film
The Iron Fist movie has been rumored to be a go for a couple of years now. Ray Park (Darth Maul) was officially signed a long while ago for the title role. If Marvel made "Blade" (a relatively unkown character) a succesful franchise, then maybe they could do it with another one, don't you think? -
No, but near complete. I'll be in the area for Mania, so I'll try those, thanks for the tip.
-
I'll be at section 94, Row M, seat 7. Pretty terrific seats, I believe. Hope to meet some of you guys, exchange some thoughts on the show. I remember a thread about posters meeting before/after the show, any truth?

They are indeed touring Mexico on early-mid April 2004. Tickets are already on sale but I can't remember the website. Hugo Savinovich and Carlos Cabrera have been hyping it for a few months (if you turn on the SAP feature you can listen to them). Unfortunately, it's a RAW brand tour/show. Smackdown is not aired on mexican TV, dunno why. But I'm sure SD! could lend a couple of stars to the tour, they've done that before overseas. I was tempted to attend, but since I'm already spending a lot of money going to Mania I had to change my mind.

Already did. Yummy. But starvenger is right, it's way too early to be talking about Spidey 3 since part 2 is not even out yet.
