So who's ordering the Royal Rumble?

    Ditto. Go Benoit!

Can anyone suggest to me some good...

Well, it pretty much depends on what kind of music you like, there are a lot of choices. Here we go with some of mine (stuff that I do listen to): Rock/Hard Rock: You can't go wrong with stuff like Mana, Caifanes, some Jaguares stuff, Los Rodriguez/Andres Calamaro (from Argentina) and some Fabulosos Cadillacs stuff. Mano Negra is pretty good, too, but nowadays Manu Chau (the band's leader) is mostly doing solo stuff. He's french BTW, but sings in spanish for whatever reason. Miguel Mateos is also a great solo rock act from Argentina. As far as Hard Rock goes, I was never much into Sepultura, but there's a band from Argentina called Rata Blanca, who're pretty good, in a Rainbow/Deep Purple vein. Heroes del Silencio, and Angeles del Infierno, both from Spain. As for more poppish kinda stuff, I hate Ricky Martin and Enrique Iglesias with a passion. BUt you can't go wrong with people like Eros Ramazzotti (italian guy who also sings in spanish) or Ricardo Montaner from Venezuela, he sings mostly romantic tunes. And of course, a lot of Shakira's pre-english stuff is pretty good. And as much as I love Thalia, the music she does is horrible. Hope this helped.

    The Daredevil Movie

I enjoyed the movie quite a lot, even more after I watched it on DVD with all the commentary and insight. You find out about little details like the lighting for Matt was a certain way (because he's blind and/or sad?) and after he meets Elektra is another way (he's happier now). All the comic book references and cameos. The Bullseye/Elektra fight scene is almost panel-for-panel like Daredevil #181. NOt quite up to par with Spider-Man, X2, or even Hulk, but still a fairly good movie. Affleck was OK, Duncan was very good, Elektra was great, and Farrel rocked the house. I think the best anyone can do to get into DD's origin story in comic-book form is grab a copy of the Man Without Fear TPB, which I have the complete mini-series. It was supposed to be Marvel's movie treatment for DD but somehow went ultra-long (you'll notice in the original mini-series there are no opening splash pages of any sort because it was never designed as a mini-series, rather a long one shot). This one is maybe my favorite of Miller's DD run, barely, just barely, beating his Born Again story (also highly recommended). Also check Frank Miller Visionaries Vol.2 for the entire Elektra Saga.

    007 Music

Live and Let Die is my favorite. I liked A View To A kill in the beginning but I've grown tired of it in recent years. Of the Pierce Brosnan era, I really like The World Is Not Enough.

2 New Matches added to Royal Rumble card

I just hope that with five matches on the card (not counting the Rumble itself) we have at least the minute-and-a-half intervals. It seems unlikely that the Rumble match will be 1 hour long with so many other matches there, Unless the card is almost promo-free or something like that.

    New WWE DVD's

So those extras that Scott Keith reported for the MNW DVD turned out to be total crap, unless they turn out to be the main feature. The question is is this a 2 or a single DVD set? Single more than likely with the extras announced. They should release some info on the main feature, dammit! Austin/HBK vs Bulldog/Owen (best RAW match EVER, IMO) This is worth buying just for this match. As for the WM and RR releases, I find it pretty cool and all, but unless they're also planning on releasing them in the US then there's nothing I can do, since I have no multi-region player.

    Beavis & Butt-Head

Loved the show. I still own the movie and also watch it whenever it pops up on cable. The "Beavis & Butthead Experience" album was pretty good, too, with nice "commentary" by the guys between songs.
  8. Why is everybody picking on poor Ben? Nobody's saying anything about Mona Lisa Smile bombing. Julia Roberts is supposed to be this sure fire box office draw and this last movie is doing nothing. LOTR's numbers are fucking amazing. I'm actually inclined to believe it'll make $400 million.

    Magneto/Xorn

Morrison has said that all the clues that Xorn and Magneto were the same person can be found on New X-Men Annual 2001 (or is it 2002?), the one were Xorn debuts. So he claims that it was his intention from the very beginning. Still, I quite enjoyed issue 150, and in fact, most of his run, and I'm eagerly awaiting his futuristic final story arc. BTW, New X-Men 151 can be found in its entirety on the latest Wizard magazine, I believe #147. Interesting read and great art by Marc Silvestri.

Mick Foley's Greatest Hits & Misses

Don't get me wrong, I love the RR2000 Street Fight, and the Mind Games match, but COME ON!!! The Rumble match is on 5 different DVDs and the Mind Games one is on two other DVDs already. Where the hell is the HITC match from No Way Out 2000??? It's Foley's "retirement" match and it's never been released on DVD. It Kicks ass, too!! The rest of the list seems awesome, but it still could have gone over the top, IMO. * marks out for the British Bulldogs tag match *

Top 500 Heavy Metal/Hard Rock Songs of All Time

Pretty solid list, IMO. The only material I'm mostly unfamiliar with is the Pantera stuff, otherwise I've pretty much heard everything on the list. Happy to see some old faves like Accept's "Fast as a Shark" or Queensryche's 2Take Hold of the Flame" mixed in there with some all time greats. Little disappointed with Kiss' showing but still no complaints, since "Detroit Rock City" ranked decently. Did "God of Thunder" rank in the Top 500 at all? "Paranoid" is a great choice but I wouldn't mind seeing "Hallowed Be Thy Name" at #1 either, or "Iron Man" for that matter. Old school metal rules!

    DVD news from 1 wrestling

On other DVD related notes, the Foley DVD is not listed on the insert that's included on the No Mercy 2003 DVD, which supposedly lists all future releases till June 2004. Foley's DVD comes out on January 20th 2004 (according to Amazon.com, you can pre-order it already with 30% off) but on the insert there's another Rock DVD (The Rock's Greatest Hits) on that same date, which strangely is not listed yet for pre-order on Amazon.com. Also missing from the DVD release schedule is No Way Out 2004. And both Best of Confidential vol.2 and Rise & Fall of WCW are listed for early February, and also not available for pre-order anywhere yet. Any news regarding these releases?

Joe Perry jams with KISS! Makes KISStory in OKC!

That's so fucking cool. I can't believe Joe Perry is wearing Kiss boots. And he didn't trip or anything? Most definitely the hottest ticket of the year.

    The WWE PPV DVD Thread

Hooray for the return of extras on WWE DVDs. Both No Mercy and Survivor Series should be coming my way this week from Amazon.com

The OAO Return of The King thread

But Ebert really liked Fellowship, while Roeper hated it. I remember that very clearly. So they reversed roles on Two Towers?
  16. Even after all the hate that Episode I & Episode II get, and all the love and praise Lord of the Rings get, Episode I grossed over $415 million and Episode II did $310 million, so both LOTR movies paled in comparison to Ep.I and barely outgrossed Ep.II

The OAO Return of The King thread

Box Office Mojo gives a somewhat regular rating to the movie (a B rating) so there you have a non-greatest-film-ever review. Check it out at boxofficemojo.com Reger Ebert's Chicago Sun Times review should be up tomorrow, also. He gave only *** (out of four) for Two Towers, IIRC.

    Interesting New WWE Figures

I read somewhere that Bret's relationship with WWE/Vince was very good at this point so it makes sense he allowed them the rights to release the action figure. If you ask me, this bodes well for the eternally-rumored Bret Hart DVD release in the future as well, if the Hitman and Vince continue on these good terms.

    ultra-fascinating behind scenes info on...

That was one of the most idiotic things ever to happen to my favorite hero, and I believe that to this day it hasn't been addressed what exactly happened so that the original Tony Stark returned after Heroes Reborn and nobody said anything.

    Ok...WTF is that???

Nobody sees this match as a possibility for a Stone Cold Steve Austin return? This could be the catalyst for an Austin/Y2J feud leading up to WM. Austin stunners Jericho for the Trish pin. Just a guess.

OAO Greatest Comic Book Artist Nomination Thread

Agreed on the John Byrne opinion, but he also did some of his own inking on Fantastic Four IIRC, and it was very good. John Buscema I've always liked but I can't remember who he mostly teamed with in the inking dept. except for Tom Palmer on Avengers. He had a great run on FF IIRC, who was the inker there?

OAO Greatest Comic Book Artist Nomination Thread

Is it OK to second the nominations? My favorites have already been mentioned. - Jack Kirby. The King. Can't say enough about his greatness. - George Perez. THE greatest team artist ever without a doubt. - John Romita jr. The best storyteller on the face of the planet.

Britney "Zones" Into the Record Books

MJ's new CD sold over 120,000 copies on its first week. On a normal week that would have been enough for a #1 debut. That particular week saw a slew of strong and new releases so that debut position (13? 17? I forgot) is misleading.
