So...how was the thumbtack match or the tag match or the Young/Sharkboy match?
-
A really good show for post PPV with more wrestling than usual. Can I at least get a half writing credit when Otaku/Brock is edited in? My one possible quibble is we had too many turns for one night of wrestling, but I'm sure most of them are building toward a 6 man, so it won't seem quite so bad
-
Alf needs to work on the Otaku/Brock match and tweak it a bit, so I guess he'll be sending you the fixed version
-
I'll try to give more feedback later, but I'm finally working through the Zack/Blank match right now.....and I'm glad I couldn't get my match in on time, it doesn't hold a candle to this....wow.....

I don't think they're a Christian band, certainly not many Christian bands I think record a live show where their lead singer drops multple F bombs. Now...the band is probably from a Christian background, I believe they're from Alabama, and they make references to it in songs like Torniquet where they use what sounds like a prayer in the lyrics, but on the other hand they're not constantly praising God or anything. Just referencing their background and culture, I think. U2's made a lot more references to Christianity over their career and I've never heard anyone call them a Christian band. I think Evanesence was originally marketed as a Christian band, though. I guess it's up to you to decide, the Best Buy I work in doesn't put them in the Contemporary Christian section, they're in Rock.

I think we're going back to that chicken or the egg thing like what happened when the wrestling study came out a little while ago. Does watching pro wrestling or Kill Bill or playing Grand Theft Auto make people do the stuff they see? Or do inherantly violent people watch or play these and then go out and so something stupid? I'd lean toward the later, since I've never once felt the need to jump on a turtle or shoot anyone despite enjoying Super Mario Bros. and Metal Gear Solid 2 or whack someone with nunchuks even though I like Enter the Dragon. When it comes to terrorism, we have to remember that these folks are being taught a perverted form of Islam. I've listened to lectures on CD by a college professor who's spent his life studying the faith and according to him, Muslims are taught to generally be very peaceful and the word jihad has been taken very incorrectly by these people to mean holy war, when the concept is more about trying to improve one's self to be a better Muslim. Besides, if we're going to profile based on race, we're opening big huge cans of worms here, not only the ones mentioned, but we're going to look very, very bad in the eyes of the world in several respects.

Indeed, JPop produces odd band names, but I think it best we stay out of that territory.

Oh man, I just found a mega hot Phil Lesh and Friends show, the latest digital soundboard from Phil, God bless him. They even do Touch of Grey! I was wondering if Phil didn't do it in reverence to Jerry, but it's an awesome version. Phil sings a nice Box of Rain to end it, he'll never be a Jerry Garcia level singer, but he's gotten so, so much better since those early shows he did in 1999 after he came back from the liver transplant. Grab it at http://www.archive.org/details/paf2006-07-...24.sbeok.flac16 I usually use VBR mp3s, but to each their own

So...I'm guessing Andre switched from trunks to the singlet so he could have a back brace on under it?
-
I was fixing up the CDs in my store and I saw a band called The The....I'm not kidding.
-
Since there was a transmission bug during the PPV Otaku II vs. Brock Ausstin Falls Count Anywhere for the OAOAST Heartland Title
-
Is that Ultimo Dragon?
-
I agree with many of the songs here and will also add "Weathered" by Creed, it's literally one chorus done over and over! I'll also nominate Don't Cha and most anything 50 Cent gets on the radio
-
This reminds me, what the frick does "Riding Dirty" mean?
-
Ick....I'm sorry, I'm not going to finish my match in time, I think we'll have to put it on Held Down
-
There was one VHS tape released very early in his career, probably late 2000 since it's advertised on my 2001 Rumble and No Way Out tapes, and there was supposed to be something, but then that turned into Cena's DVD somehow

But look at his torso and arms. He's showing more muscle and looks wider, but I wouldn't call it a healthy muscular look, and his arms' veins are showing and they look smaller. I seem to recall issues with him and the feeling in his arms. Compare that to say, Chris Benoit Benoit is consistantly thick throughout, Angle's torso doesn't look good beyond the muscles, you can also see it in the first picture. I'm admittedly no doctor, so that may not be important, just something I noticed. He's seemed unhealthy looking to me ever since he switched from the colorful tights and boots to the black tights and shoes. Look here, this was probably around Wrestlemania 21, he looks so much better here
-
If you look at Angle's past, especially if you read his book and see how he trained for the Olympics(I found it in my library network) this guy won't let anything get in his way he gave up on his outside life to train, and of course as he oh so famously said, he won his gold medal with a "broken frickin' neck." I could see TNA signing him, but I really, really hope he stays home or goes to rehab and gets himself fixed up. There is nothing he can do in WWE that is so significant that it's even remotely worth his health. Despite the oddness of the Anklelock in his moveset, he is certainly one of the best wrestlers to come down the pike in recent WWE history. I'd like to see him come back, but as they say in MMA, the health of the fighters is the most important thing, and well...he went from to he's more muscular....but in a way he looks like he's wasting away
-
potentially important question for my match: does OAOAST use guardrails or the WWE style security barriers?
-
I think TNA and WWE are the only places, but otherwise yea, if you'll give him a ring and someone to wrestle, he seems to take anything

TNA Comments which don't warrant a thread
Masked Man of Mystery replied to dubq's topic in TNA Wrestling
I do not understand what is seen in this big doofus. He's just Test v2.0. Same goes for A1. First off....I really can't see what people see wrong with Test, he's not great, but he is a good, competant midcard wrestler who understands how to be a dirtbag heel in a way most heels today don't seem to, as I have said before, see him working with Steiner and Stacy for evidence. Second, the crowd at least used to love Hoyt, and if he's willing he can work in the lower end of the heavyweight division with guys like Roode and Abyss. -
Good games bought on blind buys?
Masked Man of Mystery replied to Youth N Asia's topic in Video Games
In a way, Metal Gear Solid 2 was a blind buy for me, as I had never played the first one at all(still need to pick up Twin Snakes, now that I think of it) or anything of the sort, had only read like one review of it that was fairly vague because they didn't want to give away too much of the story, and hey, I had a blast playing it. I also bought Summoner 2 for PS2 not knowing it was the same game as Summoner for GC, it was my first PS2 game because it was $5 at the time. FFX was largely the same case as MGS, I had read a review when it came out, but that was back when I just had a Cube. Ribbit King was probably the truest "knew nothing about it" game I've bought recently, it just suddenly popped up in my store, it was $10, and while not great, is pretty fun. Oh...I suppose Fifa 2004 too, I picked that up used just because I wanted a new soccer game and EB didn't have any copies of Winning Eleven. I guess I'll edit in anything else that comes to mind... -
I do believe the Sydney Sky vs. Ayane Mitsui match is happening this week

Comments that don't warrant a thread
Masked Man of Mystery replied to {''({o..o})''}'s topic in Video Games
I've finally gotten around to playing Dragon Quest 8 in earnest after it mostly just sitting around since I got it for my birthday in February. Really good game only ruined by having to level grinding every now and then, and weapons seem to be over priced, but I lost a nice amount of money early on by being wiped out 3 times, but I'm mostly doing ok now. It's weird how this game and Smackdown vs Raw 2006 have the British spellings and DQ8 sounds like it was dubbed by a mostly British cast, but they didn't get the games as soon as America did -
Agreed, VBR mp3s are the best way as far as I'm concerned, it's what I used when I download Phil Lesh shows
