WWE Trying To Get Back Old Fans
Masked Man of Mystery replied to EdwardKnoxII's topic in The WWE Folder
I watch Smackdown these days for one reason:it's the only wrestling I can see on a regular basis. Not having cable or DirecTV sucks. I so wish I could watch Impact. By the way, here;s how you get fans, WWE, do what the NWA did in its glory days: put on GOOD matches. I can appreciate Randy Orton taking the thumbtack bump, but I don't NEED to see Randy Orton taking the thumgtack bump. I NEED Randy Orton to be a good wrestler. there is so much fat on this roster that should be trimmed and we would have such a better show. By the way, whatever happened to HBK trying to get Am Drag into WWE? He's a natural Tajiri foe. -
How much do video game store clerks make?
Masked Man of Mystery replied to NoCalMike's topic in General Chat
Well that explains a lot of things -- I'm so sick of getting pimped all those things whenever I go to one of those stores that I've stopped and go to Best Buy, where I only get pimped free issues of Entertainment Weekley. No they're not, and it's interesting to see where parents drop off their brats now that most arcades in malls have gone out of business... I work at Best Buy. We don't make commission, but at least we get a sweet discount(especially on anime) and we make more than mimimum wage. -
The thing is, from the XPw match I saw them in, they get over as heels by being the most stereotypical rednecks imaginable, I think they'd need a gimmick change first.
-
By the way, I think it says somethng when Paul Heyman is cutting promos for this angle and the whole "he has the urn" thing look utterly retarded. Also, this whole thing with the urn is a total change anyways. Okay, Paul ahd the urn. Kurt Angle didn't go find the urn when he had to fight BikerTaker so that he would give in. It might've worked before BikerTaker but now it just seems very, very silly. Even then, this isn't the 80s and really cartoony gimmicks are very hard to make work. Mankind worked because Mick Foley was able to act like an extremely disturbed person and they were smart enough to work in bits of his rela life into the gimmick, and well, Paul looks very stupid holding out the urn and even with the hair dye and makeup, he still looks like BikerTaker and Biker Taker NEVER did the "reciting poetry" position.

I think RVD looked more intense tonight than I've seen him in a while, and well, I think since we are acting as if Taker is under the power of Heyman because of the urn, he should be keeping that zombified look on his face he's been using since he came back as the deadman, rather than the very angry(as well as wet) look on his face. I mean, I hope he isn't sweating that badly from squahsing a couple of guys

I've been doing this for about 4 years on and off. Mostly off. I've only recently gone and begun rewriting the early shows(even I recognize some of that dialouge is awful), and so look for the special edition of the first show and the last 3 shows for my better work. My storylines to this point aren't spectacular, but I've booked the next few shows and it will look a lot more solid. Remember, I was a mark when I began writing this, and very new to the internet and fanfiction and all, and if you don't see a character you like, well, too bad, it's based on characters I feel I know well, which mostly means characters from characters on Nintendo systems. I just thought I'd post the link to thisd, and if all goes well ya'll can see my writing improve. Enjoy, and please feel free to leave comments: VWF

Super Fire Pro Wrestling X Premium has an interesting option. You can set the win modifier to a 2 count. That'd be interesting to see in WWE, particularly with good tech wrestlers or cruisers.

First videoclip from "Smackdown vs Raw" (ps2)
Masked Man of Mystery replied to a topic in Video Games
Wrestlemania 19 looks okay other than hair. Some of teh character models leave something to be desired, but the basic engine isn't too bad. The main problem with Wrestlemania 19 is the lack of a true storyline where you're winning a belt instead of beating up cops. -
Mordecai's Toronto promo wasn't pre recorded, and it did fine, although it should've trigged a Canadian wrestler to face him down

Actually, he was very lucky he wasn't a victim of an OD. I heard he was a heroin addict for like 20 years.

It wouldn't take much to be better than UFC Throwdown, where you can dominate with Maurice Smith and his punch combo

Jericho, Eddie, and Benoit all qualified as Cruisers in WCW Revenge. I realise they've bulked up a bit since then, but still, they can't be much bigger.

It's a shame, but I heard he had liver problems, so at least he isn't dealing with that now

Bela Lugosi has been screwed over. I got a package of old horror movies, some of which starred Mr. Lugosi. The man was an absolute natural. And his face was such that he could play a sympathetic character or a madman. It's a shame he got relegated to the horror/science fiction genre. By the way, I'm saying this and I have yet to see Dracula(I hope to get the set over the summer). I think that tells you something. Also, Bruce lee gets props, but I don't think many people saw just how talented he was as an actor as well as a fighter, and there was such promise in Return of the Dragon that could have been a very good action director. Also, there are some anime voice actresses who can play an incredblely wide variety of roles. Go to imdb.com and see what some of the voice actresses fromAzumanga Daioh have done. One did Kero-chan, a little magical stuffed animal type character, and also played the gym teacher, Ms. Kurosawa, in Azumanga Daioh.

Okay, this is a thread for people to let others know that a certan game is disappointing and not worth it. I know I'm late with this, but I just rented DBZ Budokai and well, I'm now wishing I had renting Evolution or whatever it is(I have a Cube). Fights don;t feel mparticularly DBZ ish, although there are moments, and I can't figure out how to charge my ki. If I can't, well, half of DBZ is charging up by God, it SHOULD be in the game! Also, its dubbed only and you get stupid things like "King Kai Fist" instead of "Kaio Ken." Even if that is the translation, they call it a Kaio Ken even in the dub! By the way, I don;t think they even got the usual DBZ dub crew to do this, which makes it worse, as they can at leats be halfway decent at times. The only positive about that is that there isn't "Oh my gosh!" syndrome present. But the controls stink, and the move list is pathetic. There's more depth in the SNES DBZ games.

Most Steve Austin matches are absolute snoozers for me.

They talked quite a bit about this on my local sports talk station, and I agree with what one of the hosts said. What is offensive about this(recall from the Hirohito debacle, I am not Japanese) is the implication that he associates Japanese people with being sneaky and that this is used on the field. He implies that the whole team is associating Japanese people with being sneaky. It's like people thinking all Italian people are in the mob.

Who do you think would win in a fight?
Masked Man of Mystery replied to tbondrage99's topic in Literature
Yeah, I know a bit about VOltron, but I was thinking more thow the Z Warriors against anyone and you have yourself a tough fight. Kururin/Krillin is probably the weakest of the bunch, aned even then, he went through Master Roshi's training, so he's at least stronger than Mr. Satan and that guy is strong. He just looks weak by comparison. Although there is Chiazou, who i don't know much about, but I assume at the least he could help with a self destruct. Tienshinhan and Yamcha are both at least decent fighters with at least one big move apiece(Tien has his move where he makes the triangle with his hands and Yamcha has the guided ball of energy and the Roga Fufu Ken) I may not have all the spellings right since my DBZ knowledge is a bit rusty, particularly about the minor fighters since Shone Jump's into Cell Saga, by which point the humans hardly fight and when they do they get beat bad. -
TV shows that lost their "place in history"
Masked Man of Mystery replied to Steve J. Rogers's topic in Television & Film
G-Saviour isn't canon, I believe. Really, it dosen't have that many sequels. There are two "direct" sequels in Zeta and Double Zeta Gundam, which happen shortly after the first. Victory Gundam's a ways away from the last series, so it's more of a continuation. For anime, it's got a lot of sequels..but when you put it in American terms (Seasons, with the AU series being spin-offs) it really isn't. o_o War in the Pocket and Stardust Memories and all that are Universal Century, so I think they could count as sequels even if they take place at the same time period -

DS9 was going for a completely different feel then Trek before it, so it's to it's credit that you never got a "Trek" vibe. I'm saying I liked the show up until that point and I think it got killed with Jadzia dying -

Masked Man of Mystery replied to Steve J. Rogers's topic in Television & Film
Well, I think G-Saviour is within the UC timeline, but that was '99. But it also isn't cannon(I HOPE not at least) but the point is made, there were a rediculous amount of sequels to Gundam -
TV shows that lost their "place in history"
Masked Man of Mystery replied to Steve J. Rogers's topic in Television & Film
I can't help but feel Deep Space Nine and Voyager were disappointments. I have only seen one episode of Classic Trek, Charlie X. But I've read a bunch of novels, seen every single movie(even Final Frontier), and I got into Star Trek after discovering Star Wars and then getting some DS9 novels for dirt cheap. But the first Trek series I actually saw was Next Gen. DS9 and Voyager never captured the feling Next gen had for me. DS9 got close, but then they killed Jadzia and I stopped watching the show soon after they rbought in the new Dax. Voyager just seemed to get lost in its own weirdness and wanting to show off 7 of 9. As for Enterprise, well, I couldn't get into it and they started messing with continuity and just hope they kill that show and let Trek ride off into the sunset if they can't come up with a decent idea. Even Gundam is starting to cool it with the endless sequels.
