The OAO Thund..err...SmackDown! Thread
Masked Man of Mystery replied to reign's topic in The WWE Folder
Nunzio's music sucks, and the Taker fakeoout is just stupid. Oh, and Chavo has about the worst music in the world -
okay, does that show(?) exist on DVD or video? I checked ebay but it just gave me a bunch of figurines and shit. Just got US release on DVD this week. Get the box with it for like $6 or $7 for a pretty solid box and Chiyo-chan and Kamineko pins. At least at Best Buy. Very much worth getting.

What do you miss in wrestling
Masked Man of Mystery replied to Youth N Asia's topic in General Wrestling
I think they still do that in some of the feds other than WWE. I seem to recall seeing it in ROH and TNA, and maybe even XPW -
Worst set up or trademark move ever

Please explain, I've never heard anything about that. Does he just refuse to take the spot or something? -
The original Slayers was very good. Azumanag Daioh just came out this week, that's awesome, a comedy about school life. If the Chobits anime holds up as well as the manga, that's good, Great Teacher Onizuka is fun, Excel Saga, Gundam Wing(and most everything Gundam), Lupin III, anything Miyazaki or Takahata, Martian Sucessor Nadesico, Noir, and if you watch a bit of Cardcaptor Sakura, or Cardcaptors(the dub) if you absolute must, I personally like the first movie better than the second one, but you need to get the gist of the show first. That's all I can come up with right now. Oh, wait, you may also like You're Under Arrest, whihc is about two Tokyo traffic cops.

Azumanga Daioh has just about the most perfect ending. They finally graduate, and you know they're all going their spearate ways, thus killing any real possibility of a sequel, but you know they'll stay friends too.

I'd like to see the face cruiserwights officially come togther as the new Filthy ANimals or something, as it seems tyhere was an alliance among Rey, Kidman, Ultimo, and Funaki. Sub London for Ultimo, and there ya go. Chavo can get his group together and IT'S WAR! Darn, I got beat to it!

I personally would love to see Tiger Mask IV and Jushin Liger kick some tail in the States, and I've only seen the found on Sledgehammer. I love being a masked wrestler mark.

Hey, it's better than the World's Strongest Slam. But what ever happened to the Edgecution or the Edge-o-Matic? He used to use those as finishers.

Oh, I understand, I'm just throwing out those points for people to chew on, along with the fact that we know Eddie's accent is gimmicked.

I doubt it, because Japanese speakers simply cannot speak English fluently unless they have been doing since they were children regularly. If blacks account for approprimately 15% of the population, WWE is somewhat underrepresenting them, but there are still several there, and maybe there just aren't many black athletes trying to get into wrestling. Although that makes it vastly different from many "real" sports, such as basketball and football, which have far greater proportions of black athletes than the WWE or the general population. Asians make up, last I checked, what, one or two percent? If so, that's about on par with the general population. I don't know if I'd even consider "Latino" a race, though. Isn't it more descriptive of their region/culture of original than skin color? I've heard some Japanese people speak very good English. I do believe they study it in school, and I've heard two Japanese bands that speak very good English, the Penpals who sing exclusively in English as far as I know, and Puffy aka Puffy AmiYumi who led their first American CD with an English song and they'd just barely gotten over here. I think Funaki's Jackie Chan like accent is fake like Eddie's

Well, essentially that'd just save them the cost of an extra pyro show since Velocity is taped before Smackdown, but I'll take anything that puts cruisers on my TV.
-
The Vertebreaker, anyone doing a choke slam other than Taker, Kane, and Big Show, most forms of good wrestling sequences that involve acrobatics, and the bookers putting the ink to the paper that would give any cruiser not named Guerrero or Mysterio a push ; )

Maybe it's just me, but there is no bloody way the Stones are better than the Beach Boys, and Jimi Hendrix is good, nI really like him, but he wouldn;t eb my #2, and I don't particularly care for the Beatles(admittedly, I haven;t been bothered to really explore their music, but what I've heard on the radio doesn't do much for me)
-
I'd also go for Cactus during the "Cane Dewey" era. I didn't watch it when it hapened, but having sen the promos and read about it in his book, Foley seems like he was the ultimate ECW heel. HHH during 2000, definately. Undertaker during the Ministry Of Darkness, although that might be ebcause he was THE heel when I got into wrestling. Brock last year when he was destroying cruisers left and right, quite possibly the best use of the character since he made Hogan pass out, and um...really nothing else particularly stands out to me. That's the problem with only watching wrestling for about 5 years now.

I may get WMXX latr, but alll I care about personally is that finally Azumanga Daioh gets the Region 1 release! I can finally start ditching my fansubs!

I believe he's still using the La Res theme

Hirohito. I've said enough about that situation. -
Maybe they might be ticked because Japan is a country not allowed to have a real military other than a "defense force" and North Korea has nukes and we are blowing them off. And I'm just saying the angle is stupid, and unbeliveable and yes, I am royally ticked off they're pulling this but wouldn't push Ultimo Dragon, OKAY? Perhaps they'd have HAD an army if they'd used that privilege responsibly. They didn't so they lost it. Plus, it's not like we wouldn't send troops to protect them, unlike those pussies who didn't even send troops for the first Gulf War. We've been VERY nice to Japan since the end of World War II, and we're basically responsible for how they rebounded so quickly. They wanted to elect MacArthur President for God's sake. But keep thinking that America is totally evil and Japan is GREAT. First off, I am stating a fact. America is not focusing on North Korea, and I imagine Japan is a bit nervous about that. If we want to get down to it, I do not think America is horrible. I think America is a country with some work to be done, and I do not think Japan is great. I think some of their traditions and culture are cool(the concept of the samurai, the design of the katana, anime, some of their music, etc.) I happen to be on this board this time, unlike when La Res came out, and I am thus complaining about it. As I also stated, I am also ticked because of their mishandling of Ultimo. We can go on forever about this if you like, but I'm willing to just agree to disagree now. Deal?

AH HA! Paul E. will manage the heel Dudleyz. Works for me better than any of their new talent or gimmicks

I like the continuity here.
