Someone mentioned Belichick's favorite movie was The Sting. Maybe he just wanted to con people for the hell of it? He strikes me as a big enough asshole to do it.
-
Definitely. Team loyalty/rivalry is not a reason to harm one other. That stuff shows how primitive some people's mindset is to a particular thing. But it's the South, so I'm not all that surprised.

Because the NFL is on a national level, a popular sport. The networks pay that much for their games because a lot of people will watch the games and it's on Sundays and Mondays (when college football games rarely go on). I'm not saying college football is more important than the NFL on a whole, but to fans in the South, that doesn't have a NFL team OR that has only had one for a very short time relatively speaking (expansion team post 1950s) tend to have a deeper-rooted loyalty for the college team. Like I pointed out, Oklahoma Sooners is more important to fans of the Oklahoma regions than say, Denver Broncos or Kansas City Chiefs or Dallas Cowboys. The fact is there is 119 Division 1-A teams out there compared to the 32 NFL teams. This means that the NCAA has 87 more teams than the NFL, 87 more cities/regions/markets to establish themselves as "the only game in town".

Czech, Big 12 football isn't just a "feeder" system to the fans there. Is there a NFL franchise in Oklahoma? No. So to them, the Sooners IS football. It's like that throughout the South. In fact, outside the Cowboys, there are more fans that are loyal to college football than pro football.

Damaramu is a newspaper reporter for some town in Kansas. Pretty sure he has better things to do with his time than that.

USC Wuz Robbed! replied to Youth N Asia's topic in Television & Film
If that was true, that'd be very fucking impressive. As it is, it actually opened in August. -
Awesome.
-
Well nevermind that they did actually beat the Patriots last year, but yeah that's not really my point. They are not as good as the Patriots, but they are far from "jobbers".
-
Jets are some of the biggest jobbers? Who are you kidding here?
-
Or #1 Oklahoma loses to Kansas State in the Big 12 title game and still makes the championship game, only to lose there too as well.
-
Oklahoma is the likely answer. They are probably stronger this year than Texas on both sides of the ball.
-
Well... it really depends on how Bush and Young and Leinart does. If they end up flaming out then people will go "Oh so Houston DID make the right choice after all..."
-
But bad if their idea of being a Hall of Fame inductee is similar to the real HoF (Tito Santana, JYD, etc)
-
You know, it's possible Callahan is trying to call the basic plays so USC doesn't see too much of their fancier stuff, just like USC was "USC Junior" against Idaho.
-
If I may speak on this, Ken Whisenhunt was probably one of the worst candidates to become Matt Leinart's head coach. Sure he was the coordinator for a Super Bowl squad. Sure he knows how to manage a young quarterback. Arizona however, totally not the right personnel for Whisenhunt's style. They were probably better off hiring someone like Mike Martz or something like that.

In other news, Jamarcus Russell finally signs with Raiders (6 years deal). About fucking time. He reports Wednesday.

No it seems like Carson Palmer is throwing awful passes out there, but that shouldn't be true because he's usually a good quarterback. And no it's not the Ravens defense causing it. It's just the offense not clicking like it should.

At least when the Angle/Joe series was going on, after Angle was winning most of the matches, people kept holding out hope, "At least Joe is winning the belt at BFG, right?" and there was the light at the end of the tunnel. Now it looks like the whole series was meant to severely put Angle over Joe with no payback. Suppose Sting wins the belt at BFG, what do TNA do then? Go for another round against Abyss? This Judas Mecias character? Angle again? Christian Cage? Or if Angle retained? What happens then? Neither outcome sounds appealing to me. TNA is WCW but sorta worse, because there is potential to do better, but they are not fulfilling it. With WCW, you still had those good matches and/or new main eventers given the ball to try to shine like Scott Steiner or Booker T.

WTF is with Cincy's offense?
-
I always thought the Kennedy/Cena match was supposed to be the dark match for last week.
-
And Marv, I am pretty sure Adalius Thomas wants to be on a team where they are rolling over teams 34-14 instead of in a turnover prone (well all on Ravens' side) game.
-
Nah. My gripe is that the match is not something I'm particularly dying to see. Sting should not really be used as main event for the biggest PPV of the year TWO years in a row. The first year, maybe because of how Jarrett's reign was going and people are desperate to end that reign, and who better than the hero, Sting? But now, against Angle, it just seems like a tired formula, using Kurt Angle in the Jarrett mold, and same challenger. There was practically no match I wanted to see in TNA main eventing BFG, but the mere fact it looks like Joe isn't going to get his big title win there, is what I'm saying TNA is hopeless over.
-
Come on, Marvin. He does it after sacks and all. That'd be "middle of game".
-
He knows that's what the fans want though. Last season the fans bitched about how he wasn't doing his lavish celebrations. He's just a man of the people. Accept. Besides don't the Ravens have someone who has a dance that's so famous it's been parodied a few times? Rip on him.
-
Fair enough, I'm just saying. I think Cincinnati will win this game though. Their defense is outperforming Baltimore's, but its the offense that isn't quite clicking yet that's holding them back from making it a 21 point game.
