Quarterback. I know it's not that realistic, but I'm speaking in terms of what we've gotten as far as a player-oriented mode is concerned in sports games. Obviously it's a matter of opinion, and people are going to prefer different things. I will point out that the player progression is not really that different from the real games' progression. One year you have someone like Ben Roethlisberger rated in the mid 70s, when he comes out of college. Next year when the next Madden is released, Roethlisberger is at 88, due to his rookie season success.

Apparently the Atlanta chapter of the NAACP wants the Falcons to let Vick return to the team after he serves his time. So if it's not about race, it's quickly becoming one.

Because Superstar sucks. To each his own, and I know it's only a matter of opinion, but IMO, superstar mode just isn't fun. (That is, if 08 is like 07 seeing as I haven't played 08 yet) It's not fun not being able to control the team. And if the team doesn't want to involve you in any of the plays, well you're screwed. (For example, I was a WR my first superstar mode, and the fuckers would always throw to the left side of the field no matter what, even when I was wide open on the other...) When I was RB the team seemed to mostly pick passing plays, or horrible plays that would pretty much make me run into the heavy covered side of the field. And as a QB I hated the camera angle. Just didn't feel the same. All in all, the fact that anyone would forego franchise to play Superstar is baffling to me. Every word of this is true. I passed on the opportunity of nearly half of Madden 07's achievements on these grounds, Then obviously you're playing the wrong thing. If you're not interested in building a player's career up from rookie to retirement, using realistic circumstances (ie: going along with the coach's playcalling), then yeah Superstar is not for you. However, since I AM interested in that, I find it better than just playing Franchise and making silly trades and then patting myself on the back when I build a winner all too easily.

But somehow Orton draws the ire of guys like Ric Flair, Kurt Angle, even Triple H. He must be doing something worse than the others you name.

On the flip-side I don't see how there are those that wants Orton as the champion. Just because Orton kicks people in the heads doesn't make him a great champion. Combine that with the fact no one can really trust him to stay out of the headlines for trashing hotel rooms or smoking pot backstage in front of fans or messing with divas' bags or so forth, combine that with the idea that he'd be the champion, it'd be worse. I don't even think people backstage has changed their opinions on Orton that much (they hated him at one point), so to put the belt on him makes no real sense. I'd hold off the switch until after Unforgiven, since that's when HHH will be free to run a program, and Cena gets his one year reign. But don't let the idea of having a good publicity-getting champion deter you guys from wanting to put the belt on one of the worst human beings on the roster because his "head kicking" gimmick is "entertaining".

Nah no sarcasm. He was acting like he was brownnosing Carolla the entire interview, though to be fair, Carolla was asking pretty stupid questions so I wouldn't entirely blame him.

He certainly came across as a douchebag in an interview on Jim Rome is Burning, guest hosted by Adam Carolla.

Wolfe will probably do some special teams returns. He's too small, I think, to handle the running back duties. (Though apparently he did well when he played in the game last night)

Well that's the point. You're playing from his point of view? I just like trying to make a name for myself with the limitation of the playcalling.

It's preseason. I'm not confident in Rex Grossman, but I wouldn't go as far to say he sucks. He had almost identical stats to Peyton Manning, only that he fumbled 3 times (which he lost one) and had one interception. Griese did look smoother though but he's older and I wouldn't want him to start over 16 games because of injury concerns. Kyle Orton is Kyle Orton. So at this point, Grossman is still the best option for the long term. If Grossman fails to improve significantly in the season, then I would be all for drafting a quarterback or something. And Czech, Adrian Peterson getting more carries can only be a good thing. I don't know what you're getting the "sinking" from. I always thought he could have been to Chicago what Michael Turner is for San Diego, but they had depth at running back so he would only play in mop up. I'm happy he is up to #2 in the depth chart, because he deserves an opportunity to show the Bears what he can do. Minnesota's Adrian Peterson will do better though, because he's going to be one of the two featured backs in Minnesota, much like Westbrook/Buckhalter in Philadelphia when Childress was the coordinator there, before Buckhalter had injuries.

I wasn't really addressing you, Matt. Just in general. And like I said, play Superstar. I don't even know why people play Franchise these days with Superstar available. That's just my two cents on the matter.

Yeah I'm not seeing these turnovers that people are complaining about. I threw one pick in a full season. The trick? Throwing to the WIDE OPEN GUY!

Two things on the Bears: 1. They can't depend on Rex Grossman. 2. Devin Hester is ridiculous.

Baltimore will probably only carry two quarterbacks again this year. That'll be McNair and Boller. If someone goes down with an injury maybe they'll sign him again.

Probably because it's easier to recruit boys into your care as an alter boy or other various tasks than it is to have a girl left into your care. Girls would be deferred to nuns or something like that.

I found a bug in Superstar mode. Apparently if you move Daunte Culpepper to Oakland and Trent Green to Miami or make any other roster moves, then save the roster, and enter Superstar (as a quarterback), your superstar would enter his rookie season with nearly 30,000 passing yards to his credit.

Even if it means missing out on the Benoit/Eddie moment at XX?

Suck? Again, since it seems to be not getting through- I've been winning yet these problems still ruin the game. I don't want to score all my points on INT/fumble returns because I never get a chance to play on offense. I don't want the other team to have double digit turnovers. That's not NFL football. Play Superstar then. You won't play defense if you're on offense or vice versa. Win-win. I never experienced this turnovers problem in Superstar (only got picked off once and my offense fumbled maybe thrice in 5 games).
