The problem is, before the title game, the highest ranked team they faced was 12th. They faced three separate teams that came in at #14. That said, wouldn't it have been more impressive to dominate with less superstars?
-
Actually it was a response to Dama's last paragraph in his last post. I'm fully aware there's approximately two weeks left of ball to be played.
-
Considering he used the Batman:TAS picture, I'd assume... that.
-
Yeah I rated Miami #1 as I said, but I fail to see the connection between how many players went on to be NFL picks and how dominant the team is. Some teams are so dominant and they boast very few superstars, because they mesh so well and was incredibly coached.
-
Yeah, I'm not nominating that one as POTW. That said, I said that with all seriousness.
-
Not to mention, OU lost to Texas, who last I checked, was #3/#4, at a neutral site. Florida though? Ole Miss, while a top 25 team, is no Texas, and they lost that one at HOME. There really would be no justification for sending Florida in over Oklahoma if it came down to it. At least not until Florida beats Alabama.

After seeing the 2001 Hurricanes mentioned, I checked to see how well the 2004 USC team fared. While I'd probably rate Miami #1, that 2004 USC team was almost as dominant, and beat a #2 team a lot more convincingly to win the title than Miami did beating a #4 team. USC only scored 16 less points than that Miami team. Although I'd say the Miami defense obviously performed a lot better (allowing only 117 points to USC's 165ish)

Yeah, the fans were dying for a reason to cheer Shawn. Sid gave it to them.
-
Yeah, the 2001 Hurricanes wouldn't beat the 2007 Dolphins. How is that being the best team, period?

Comments which don't warrant a thread.

We live in a greedy society, as evident by that Wal-Mart trampling. Of course nobody wants to share. -
While I understand why he is in, I don't think Michael Irvin deserved an induction.

I'd like to mention after a few years of hearing LSU fans thump their chests about their team, this season has been the most delicious to watch as a LSU hater.
-
What about the Wuerffel-led Gators of the late 90s? They bested PEYTON MANNING.
-
At the very very very least, he fits what Tennessee fans has called for (more lively playcalling).
-
Yeah, supposing this is legit, how can you trust them to return all your pieces, should you feel lowballed? This reeks of easy access theft to me. And it's preying on the desperate.
-
Can't I be optimistic, man? I like Kiffin. I want him to succeed.
-
I'd pack a piece if I was the one charged with opening the doors on Black Friday. *Holds up gun* "Everybody, file in orderly fashion or you WILL BE SHOT ON SIGHT."

Brody is really making me wonder whether he is a bonafide retard or not. I could just see him making that post while his caregiver wipes away the foam from his mouth as he claps and hoots.

It'd cost 25 million or so to let Weis go. Ain't going to happen. [edit] and now I'm reading it might not be so costly to let Weis go. Apparently his last potential shot is against USC tomorrow. If they get blown out like people expect, ND will explore the option seriously.
-
Yeah that's a real dumb idea.
-
Well wasn't he? I remember Sid distracting the ref during a key pinfall attempt, and it went downhill from there for Shawn.
-
Not really. It only takes one guy turning. You have the heel champion being almost manipulated by his larger and more heelish bodyguard. You could have the fans dying to see the champion discover the bodyguard's plot, and you can either have him actually find out beforehand and kick the bodyguard to the curb, turning himself face for shedding this malicious presence OR have the bodyguard carry out his plan to perfection and the champion gets the sympathy face turn out of it (think Sid/HBK).

You have to start somewhere. You act like teams are only allowed to hire head coaching retreads. Kiffin was a hot coach coming out of college to the Raiders, where he wasn't given a chance to succeed. Now Tennessee is giving him that chance, and making sure that he gets the most out of this chance by surrounding him with an all star cast of coaches. And he split the duties at USC with Steve Sarkissan, who still has yet to bring USC to a national title game. So it's possible that since Sarkissan is the preferred OC of Carroll's, he probably listened to Sarkissan more than he did Kiffin. Though I'd say Norm Chow would probably have been a better hire if they were going this route. But it's hard to deny the politics of it (by bringing in Lane, they get a Super Bowl defensive coordinator in Monte as well).
-
... USC? The Raiders aren't a good barometer of success, otherwise Mike Shanahan never gets hired by Denver.
