Super Bowl XXXIX discussion thread

San Diego hosted a Super Bowl a couple of years ago (Tampa/Oakland) and the NFL was very displeased with the stadium's maintenance, remarking that they would never come back to San Diego in that condition. That's why the city wants to renovate/rebuild the stadium, so that the Super Bowl could come back there. -

I'm just glad Jacksonville is making the NFL forget about the San Diego fiasco. -
Edited for storyline accuracy. However he made his bed. He must lie in it. Either admit it was all made up or close the story.
-
What's the deal, man? People demand closure dammit. I see you're on, so get to posting.
-
Wow. If that was the actual Super Bowl, that would definitely be a bore-fest.

BTW Matt Young, you can't be a White Sox fan AND a Cubs fan. They are as different as night and day. Fortunately, I'm night. So I like the darker team

I'm a fair-weather Cards fan (and before anyone asks, its because they hailed from Chicago a long time ago). When they do well, I'd root for them, when they don't, I forget they exist.

I'm a White Sox fan. I think Smell the Ratings is too, not sure though. And the Bulls too (though I can't really follow them in San Diego) I feel your pain. I was used to getting all the Bulls, Sox, and Cubs games in cental Illinois, but now I don't have access to any Chicago sports channels of course since I'm in Southern California. It's a good thing I've always followed the Dodgers and Angels. Now I can go see the amazing VLAD~! and my favorite player, fellow Glenwood High School alum Jayson Werth. Plus I can see the Cubs and Sox when they come in town. As for the Bulls, I'm screwed. They finally get good again and I can't watch the games. I just tell my parents to tape the games and send to me. So they're taping a season's worth... should be a heavy package in June.

Maybe Denny Green's hire got the Arizona fans excited for their future. They are going all out with renovating the franchise: new logos, new uniforms, new stadiums, renewed playoff hopes?
-
Actually nevermind. My wife informed me the San Diego stadium is indeed being discussed. Sorry Hektik. I just never heard of this til now and I work for the Chargers for God's sakes.
-
Yeah they are. The vote will be in 2006. The stadium would be built on the northeast section of the Qualcomm lot. Key word: VOTE. I don't see them forking the money over for the stadium when they have the pension scandal and all that shit.
-
My sentiments exactly. I only like Arizona's, New Orleans's and MAYBE the Jets'.
-
They're not building a new stadium. They're renovating the current Qualcomm stadium.
-
I doubt it. Not a lot of current fans even remembers who Bruno Sammartino was.

Thanks for the stretchjob, Nabbit. McMahon actually >> Favre, (In the fun to watch way). -
Very interesting. They need to get a very young person to play Bond, since yes, Casino Royale is the first book Bond appears in.

No, but Sony is seriously kidding themselves if they think they can get a lot of buyers for it. Who the fuck is going to buy this shit for their kids? For 250 it better come with a goddamn insurance policy. -

He's been wrong about the Eagles the entire season. Picked them to finish 8-8 and for Washington to win the division. I believe he picked Minnesota in the divisionals and Atlanta in the championship game in his Steelers-Falcons SB pick. This is basically another chance to see Hoge fall flat on his face about the Eagles like the rest of the year. Had he picked the Eagles to win, I'd be REALLY worried since he pretty much never did the entire season. Just karma I guess. Right. He's been wrong so many times that I think he finally is going with the popular opinion as well as saving face by still not picking the Eagles. -
Yeah its weird. No love for Walter Payton from a lot of people here. Let's see: RUSHING Attempts Yards Avg. That was a good year too. No one could stay away from rooting for Brett Favre and Reggie White. They were so damn likable, and this coming from a Bears fan. Though I'm glad the 85 Bears trumps the 96 Packers in terms of... well everything. -

Come on, guys. He probably is only picking them because they are the safe bet. Nothing more or less. New England still will probably win. -

My favorite memory is when my hometown team of the Chicago Bears rolled through one of the best NFL seasons seen in history (going 15-1) and going to the Super Bowl and completely smashing what is today's "dynasty" in New England Patriots, 46-10. I miss those days of the Junkyard Dogs.
