WWE makes dozens of claims every year pertaining to shows, titles, wrestlers, etc that we just blink twice and go "Uhhh yeah well not really..." Look at the ECW title they "resurrected". How is it the same title when Rhino burned the actual title in a trash can? But we don't really question that. We consider the ECW title that Chavo is carrying around THE ECW title.

Going inactive in itself? No. Getting merged in with other titles? Yes.

And I don't actually consider the existing IC and US titles to have the lineage that most do. To me they began in 2003 when Christian won the IC title in the battle royal at Judgment Day and Eddie Guerrero won the US title at Vengeance. Then again the same would be said of the ECW title which began when RVD started sporting it on the first ECW TV show since WWE brought it back. As for the IC title being second in line on Raw, yeah sure it is, but the gap between it and the WWE title might as well make it a third tier title. And in theory the MITB winner could use the briefcase to get an ECW title shot. You don't get that for the IC title.

The difference isn't that great but it is one brand's main event. That counts for something.

Makes it possible they swerve us and have Cena and HHH somehow cancel each other out, leading Orton to retain. Not going to happen though. It's HHH's belt to win Sunday.

This is the outcome I expect. The earliest I expect Angle to drop the belt is Slammiversary but more likelier BFG.

I guess I'll be the one to say this, Joe isn't winning the belt. I just don't see it happening. I think AJ Styles has a better shot of taking the belt off Angle than Joe does at this point, and Styles really doesn't have a chance either.

I would definitely consider the ECW title higher than the IC/US. For example this year at Mania the ECW title has TWO matches surrounding it. IC and US has none. And the ECW title is pretty much the title to fight for on one brand, the IC and US titles are purely secondary on their own brands. I'd rate it like 1a/b. WWE/World title, 2. ECW, 3a/b. IC/US.

Except when he is being called out as a coward by Cena due to the DQ at NWO and in the entire build to Mania, contrast that with HHH's Mania build where ever since before the Rumble they emphasized that this year was his year to get the belt back. I'd say only the Hardy feud did anything to make Orton look tough, and even then it was sold as Jeff could have beaten Orton given any other circumstance.
