Good lord, Nikki's scenes this week were just embarassing. I feel sorry for Ali Larter, not even Dame Judi Dench could pull off 'split personality bitch'. It was unintentionally hilarious, and more proof that they need to drop her and the kid from the show completely.

I think it's a pretty logical reaction, albeit exaggerated. They weren't making a political point, they were making a very valid point about human nature. I just can't agree with your criticism of the film.

I too just saw the first four hours and.. good lord. Good lord. Good lord. I thought it was better than the first four hours of Day 5, and they were impeccable. So many awesome Jack Bauer moments, plenty of 24 cliches but a general vibe that this season is going to be a lot different. There's far more ambiguity this time around.

The triumphant music that played when they unveiled the hidden Toyota was perhaps the funniest moment in 24 ever.

Blade drew 2.5 million for it's premiere, but was down to below 1 million when it was cancelled. I'm pretty sure even a 1.04 for TNA means 1 million+ viewers, so yeah, make of that what you will.

Just watched a the first episode of Season 4. As someone who loved the O.C in the first season, stopped caring in the second season (about the time Marissa threw the pool chair) and barely watched the third, it was going to take something awful good to get me back into it. 5 mins in to the episode, I was re-hooked. Hawk said they have to hit a homer out of the park, and I think they did it. It's almost like the first episode in that the focus is on Ryan in a pretty bad state. And the entire episode reminds you why you love the main characters. There's one soppy moment near the end, and a few lame moments, but it just tells a good story. It seems to know where it's going too, so it's already one step ahead of Season 2. You can either download the screener, or watch the entire first episode on MySpace, I think.

I agree. The fact he didn't straight up murder the guy who raped his daughter suggests to me that he's on the good side. And we've never seen him do anything that bad. He kidnapped and tested the Psychic Cop, but he seemed fine afterwards. He went through the Indian father's house, but we don't know if he killed him. He threatened Petrelli, but to what end? I think he knows of Sylar and the evil to come, and is trying to find a way to stop him.

I thought Nash said one of his old partners would be in there, and then made the joke about Hall and Hogan to cover up the fact it's going to be Sean Waltman?

YES. The producers have said this season is basically Losties vs The Others, so a Lost Civil War could be in the cards (I'm with Captain America). Jack joining the Others seems to be where they're going with it, but it's not really like Lost to be predictable.

I agree with Hoff, but I did feel this episode was the best of the series so far. The contrived action drama of the week (Library on fire) was mercifully short. It just seems like every week they throw major characters into situations you absolutely know they'll survive, and they try to milk it for tension but it just doesn't work. The best parts are the wider drama, (the missile launch was sweet, as was the almost-press conference) the freaky black guy, and the character stuff. If they stick to that, it's a good show.

I didn't think anything could really top the Autopsy closing scene of last weeks show. But Future Hiro just kicked its ass.

Not every storyline is clicking, but the ones that are (Hiro, Sylar, Cheerleader) are insanely awesome. I'm going to assume the guy Psych-Cop collapsed after mind-reading was T.L, Nikki's ex-husband?

Same. I just wish they'd throw a spanner in the works more often. Everything is working out too well for everybody (Dude in the rain is fine, Mayor just had the flu, Emily's husband on the plane is alive, Tracheotomy Kid lives, Kid finds the train shipment with food). I don't want to bring the Lost comparisons, but I want something very, very bad to happen to one of the townsfolk - like Charlie getting hung from the tree by his neck.

No No No. I love American politics. I just think it's stupid to have a British guy making jokes about it instead of an American.

I'm an Aussie, so this isn't an American hating on all things foreign, but what's the go with Brits John Oliver and Dave Gorman on the Daily Show now? Especially Oliver, who has taken Rob Cordry's spot as one of the main correspondants? I don't want to sound like a dick, but I don't watch American comedy shows to see British guys talking about American politics. It just seems out of place, and I don't dig it.

Because they're full of salt and preservatives. But that just makes them look like they're good to eat. If you've seen Super Size Me, they show what McDonald's fries look after a few months (exactly the same). Two days after its cooked is a good rule for most things with meat, or chicken, or anything fresh. Something like.. Mac and Cheese could go a few days more though. If you're eating anything more than four days after you cooked it, you're putting yourself at risk. And it will taste like shit too.

Wouldn't Downey be better at pulling off a character with a substance abuse problem?

So after the Western World cuts ourselves off from Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Sudan and Syria, what do we fill our cars with? How does Israel, America's strongest ally go when they're surrounded by even more radical Islamics? After we stop providing assistance to the Phillipines and Indonesia and Abu Sayyaf and Jemaah Islamiyah send those countries into anarchy, what do we do then? Sit back and watch cable, while millions of people live in poverty and desperation, while the world economy collapses and radical Imams control 2/3rds of the global energy supply? If you're interested in defending your country's national and economic security, isolation works about as well as a pistol to the head.

Logan's character was barely developed before he became President, and he was one of the best characters ever in the entire show. Wayne isn't a 'strong' character because he's never really been the focus (aside from that god awful affair with Milikin's wife angle). I think we should hold back on the Prez Wayne hate until we see what they do with it.

Absolutely. The WWF in 2002, with Austin, Rock, Hogan, Taker, Triple H, Angle, Benoit, Guerrero, Mysterio, Jericho is a close second. And the fact that both companies turned to shit a year later is testament to how inept the people in charge were.

Totally agree about S.O.S. It addressed a lot of the little questions people had about Lost (the survivors attitude to rescue), and I loved how it completely turned around what you expected from the Rose/Bernard relationship. The 'I'm dying' response to Bernard's proposal is one of the most brutal, emotional scenes I've ever seen. I think the problem with S.O.S was its placement. It came too late in the season (and just before a break, I think?), at a time when the main stories really should have been ramping up.
