I thought those of you outside Chicago might get a kick out of this.

What would we have to give up?
-
Wow, the Cubs are in an AMAZING stretch right now, and we take everything to St. Louis this week with a chance to claim our spot atop the division.

My friends and I actually do that visor thing when we see another friend down the hall or across the room, and we say something like "Oh, THERE he/she is" or "Is that the guy?"
-
I liked AS better before. Hating the Yankees as much as I do, it was always so much fun to see him get all worked up. And in New York the game of the week will be Yankees/Dodgers, in Boston it'll be Red Sox/Giants, but I don't know which the rest of the country gets.

Don't we already have an offseason thread?

Nice. And I'd just like to point out that the message boards on mlb.com and for the individual team pages are complete crap. They have some of the stupidest discussions I have ever seen in my life. This place and mlb.theinsiders.com are far superior.

Cubs are 4-8 on the start of either a road trip or a home stand. Those plane flights must be HELL. I didn't actually see the game, by the way, I was working all day and will watch the tape tomorrow morning before Game 2.

There's racist people everywhere, but this isn't even the first racist thing Bonds has said. Supposedly after some spring training game when he was being hounded with questions about steroids he walked off yelling "Black power!" And we all know how he wants to pass Babe Ruth because he's the old white guy, but not Hank Aaron. Then there was the time he charged the mound to yell at a pitcher who will likely be remembered long past Bonds, never taking off his helmet, his obscene padding, or even dropping his bat. And I think we're all pretty sure he uses steroids. All of this will always be excused because he's a great player.

That asshole foul ball guy from The Rangers game was on Mancow's Morning Madhouse today. He says he didn't realize what he did at the game, but later he saw highlights and felt bad about it. Mancow, Stacy, and the rest did not believe he sincerely felt bad, and thought he just disliked the publicity and the way he's being treated now, so the foul ball guy admitted that after this happened people were throwing baseballs at his truck. Then Mancow allowed listeners to call in and give their opinions of the whole incident, and the guy listened at first, but then said he was hanging up and said "All these people are stupid!" He then said at least it wasn't like in Chicago, where Mancow broadcasts from obviously, where a guy going after a foul ball could affect a team's World Series chances. Yeah, asshole, let's see if the TEXAS RANGERS have ANY World Series chances. Turd, the show's resident southsider, said "Sox fans loved that! Sox fans loved that!" until he eventually shut up, being outnumbered by Cubs fans on the show.

Karl Malone has filed for free agency, rather than just retiring right now.

Twelve-year-old Lakers fans outside LA will be upset for about a week, if that, so if you're going to mock and roast, do it now.
-
Nice 9th inning comeback for The Cubs tonight, I almost missed it due to general frustration with our offense and The Lakers getting killed.
-
Lie detectors have been fooled before, why don't they just see if there was any footage of the spitting?
-
Yeah, I missed the watercooler thing during the game but I saw it later during Sportscenter and I couldn't stop laughing. Tonight there will be massive channel surfing between Cubs/Stros and Pistons/Lakers. If the Cubs and Pistons both win, it could be the best sports night since............................................. well honestly I don't even know.

Honestly I just love that not only were the Cubs able to delay his 300th win, we also prevented from going 10-0. He probably really hates us.
-
AS, can I ask what made you give up on all your Clemens hate? And do you still hate Pettite?
-
This is way gheyer than rawmvp's "Did somebody say Russian?" from a while back.
-
And FINALLY Clemens has lost his first game of the year, at the hands of The Chicago Cubs and MARK PRIOR!!!! Woohoo!!!!!
-
Oh, I'm sorry, I meant to put that I'm 18.
-
I'm 81.
-
Monday night, I believe.

EXCELLENT win for the Cubs today, John Leicester pitches three shutout innings to get his first major league win, while Greg Maddux was waiting in the pen, ready to go in if need be, after pitching Friday night.

He says the Cubs had an advantage in the series because of The Cards missing a Marquis and Pujols, but I guess he doesn't realize we're missing SOSA and WOOD.
