    This Week in Baseball

Real heartbreaker today. Cubs down 5 and come back to lose it by 1. Mitre's mistakes in the second pretty much cost us the game; otherwise we definitely would have won that one.

Now Wood's on the DL. FUCK.

    Creepy sports predictions

Almost every time Sammy Sosa steps up to the plate, I can tell whether he'll hit a homerun or not. I've been doing this since mid-98 and my predictions are about 80-85 percent.

    This Week in Baseball

These injuries to The Cubs have just been unreal, now Sosa's heading to the DL. If somebody told me during spring training that in the first six weeks we'd lose Remlinger, Grudzielanek, Gonzo, WOOD, PRIOR, and SOSA and still be just one game back I'd have laughed my ass off. I predict The Cubs bounce back from last night's loss and win the next two, and just hope The Marlins can knock around The Astros a bit. OH, and for those of you who are fans of The Yankees, Red Sox, Cubs, Cardinals, Reds, or whoever else, just waiting to see when Clemens will finally lose a game, it's coming soon.

I just think it's fucking excellent that of all people Piazza stopped Clemens from going 8-0, and now after all the injuries and blown saves and incosistent offensive production, plus a six-game road trip against two of the better teams in baseball, The Cubs are tied for first!

The Cubs have scored at least six runs in three straight games now, but now they are confronted with David Wells. Also, we have Glendon Rusch pitching for us, so we'll likely NEED those runs. Ah, well, we've at least guaranteed ourselves a .500 road trip against two of the best teams, and we can't possibly come home any worse off than when we left, so I'm not too worried. Also, in case nobody's heard the news, The Cubs have hit 5 home runs in two games at Petco Park, one of the hardest parks to hit it out of. HAHAHAH!

    I meant "lose game two."

    This Week in Baseball

Strikes out to win game two, long fly ball to win game three. Dusty must have known they'd walk Jackson, which was the only reason he let Rusch bunt for himself instead of letting Hollandsworth swing away and perhaps hit a homerun. Amazing finish, but exactly what Dusty's known for-- giving everybody a chance, specifically giving CPat the chance to redeem himself.

Why did Dusty even leave him in there? Why did Dusty even PUT him in there? Fucking ridiculous.

    This Week in Baseball

The best rivalry for me is Cubs/ White Sox, just because I live right in the middle of it. We can argue about who has the better team all preseason and for three more months beyond that, but then finally the two teams clash, and I've always tried my best to get to the games, and occassionally succeeded. It should be even better now with both teams doing well. And "Thank you" to Slapnuts and alkeiper, I think I'm gonna get it.

Can anybody tell me about this MLB.com audio thing? I only want to get it if it carries the huge vast majority of the good games, and doesn't come in choppy or anything.

I'd love NOMAH on the Cubs.

According to PTI, it was our very own Cub fans who complained about Dusty's swearing and got him suspended. This has probably been in the local papers as well, but I've yet to check. If this is true, somebody's a complete idiot, and I don't care if it's just a mommy or daddy with their small children; just try to distract them, take them to get something to drink, anything, but these fools are screwing over their own team by complaining. Only Cub fans like us demand these guys be heros, but they're real men and they can have the occassional slip-up. If you don't want to see people throwing things and yelling curse words, just don't even go to a game; there's no room for these fucking pussies.

Manager Dusty Baker and pitcher Kerry Wood of the Chicago Cubs have each been disciplined for their conduct during the Cubs-Cincinnati Reds games in Chicago, Illinois on April 16 and April 17, 2004, respectively. Baker has been suspended for one game and fined an undisclosed amount for his inappropriate actions during the bottom of the seventh inning during the April 16th game. Wood has been suspended for five games and fined an undisclosed amount for his inappropriate actions during the top of the ninth inning of the April 17th game. Bob Watson, Vice President of On-Field Operations for Major League Baseball, made the announcement. Both suspensions are scheduled to begin tonight. If appealed, Wood's suspension will be held in abeyance until the process is complete. I just found this on MLB.com. Wood should appeal now, so he can take on The Cards, and with any luck we can drag this thing out a while.

Well, Dusty's whole thing went on way too long, and he was throwing stuff and inciting the fans to throw stuff as well, but all Kerry Wood did is yell at the ump about a bad call; hitters and pitchers complain about calls all the time. In my opinion, this is bullshit, and it's coming at the worst possible time, heading into St. Louis.

I'm probably going to have a heart attack from this series, with one game still left for tomorrow. To the other Cubs fans-- is it too early to be worried? We're at .500 now.

    This Week In Baseball

Sportscenter showed the Strike Zone digitally during yesterday's Cubs game, and they WERE strikes, as us Cubs fans and probably some Reds fans in hiding knew all along. We should be half a game back in the standings now, but instead we're down to third due to this idiocy.
  20. To Anglesault Too high a percentage of your runs scored are from Home Runs; they showed that graphic yesterday during the Cubs/Reds game because my Cubs are second in that category behind you. That's why both our offenses are hit-and-miss, but The Cubs have better starting pitching.

    Why ESPN sucks

Fucking training camps that they try to shove down our throats, and NFL schedules being released in April like we can't possibly wait until two weeks before tickets go on sale.

The Cubs are back on track, finally, winning 4 of their last 6. I had a great time at the game today, my first time at Wrigley since I was 8 years old.
