But he didn't, he took cheap shots at Bush about an issue he was NO different on. And contary to popular belief, Bush wasn't supportive of the amendment to make gay marriage illegal.

It'll make the Democrats look like sore losers to those who were on the fence and will increase the public's view of the Republicans. In other words, it'll do massive damage.
