WCW.com still leads back to the WWE.com website so it's just covering bases if anything.

    Theory on the Hardy Burial

Does Hardy have the weight or the strength to make anything hurt? He could always start singing while sitting on top of them. That would make any WWE superstar tap out. Hell, that would make the crowd yell "TAP OUT! TAP OUT!"

WWE house show in Glasgow, Scotland

Well what do you know, it does.... ECW returns, led by Dancing Brock and an army of clowns along with the Minnesota Vikings! Randy Moss busts out the Viking Elbow while Dante Culpepper shows off his killer 450 splash. ETA: When you type in www.wcw.com, you also get sent back to the WWE homepage. Looks like it's nothing more than them covering the webpage bases.

Newsmagazine stories about the success of Medicare

You'll care when your taxes go up... You would think saying Surge and Pac Man would have made it clear I was mocking the fact people aren't paying attention to this despite it being a big deal.

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind

According to Box Office Mojo, it had a Production Budget of $35 million and Marketing Costs of $10 million. I think this movie will still get a positive buzz among real moviegoers and hold up well enough to make back production costs and marketing easily. If this was Oscar time and the movie grabbed some nods, it would have received a much bigger audience since it would have developed that "people want to see why so and so got nominated" audience. I just don't understand this release date at all. It might cost them nods and it does cost them money they would have made from buzz from at least the People choice awards.
  7. That's IT??? God, talk about begging a movie to fail miserably. First you put it against Scooby Doo 2 and then you limit the release to 1500. God, that movie is screwed. I just hope now that I can even get to see it before it goes to DVD.
  8. In order: Clerks made 3 million with an opening of 236,000 but was only in like 90 theaters when it was at it's widests Mallrats made 2.2 million with an opening of 1.1 but never got above 900 theaters. Chasing Amy finished with 12 million with an opening weekend of 1.6 million but it never got above 600 theaters. Dogma made 30.6 million with an 8.7 million opening off about 1300 theaters. Jay and Silent Bob got 30 million with an 11 million opening and an open of above 2,500 theaters. That's it so I don't see why people expect Jersey Girl to clean up. I like Kevin but his movies don't sell.

Eternal is bombing? It's average per theater is above all except DAWN.

    The Rocks next movie

And Rock would resign since the WWE is a free promotional wheel that helps him get roles I would bet since he helps with ad costs. Course, the WWE hasn't been helpful to any movie they have promoted. If anything, they are like the anti-promotion tool.

The official Dawn of the Dead 1979/2004 thread

The release date has been pushed back a few times The last one I heard was September 10. I think the chances of a sequel depend on the holdover. If it keeps more than 50% of it's audience (which it should) then yeah, they might go with a indirect sequel. But if I recall, isn't everyone on the planet basically DEAD by the end of Dawn? Even the emergency broadcast system was out by that point.

The official Dawn of the Dead 1979/2004 thread

I've been thinking of that a lot lately too. Like, ways to explain fast vs slow. Fast = just "turned" - therefore rigormortis hasn't set in yet so they can move just like they did when they were alive, but only for a limited time as they begin to decay more. Slow = "aged" zombies.. ie: they've been zombies longer, rigormortis has set in, the limbs are atrophied and it's harder for them to move. Yes, exactly! I don't like the full sprint all the time zombies, but I could accept it if they had some kind of understanding behind them such as you explained. But the ones coming out of the ground in full running mode? That is just can't see since they are mostly decaying muscle and bone.

The official Dawn of the Dead 1979/2004 thread

Has a plot, why the zombies are alive isn't explained or attempted to be explained. Not very gory in the zombie parts, mostly some of the random human deaths are but nothing you wouldn't have seen in KILL BILL. Yes, why the dead are up and walking requires some guesswork but it is just supposed to be a movie about mass chaos so no one can explain it.

Kids aren't like us anymore. Like Vivisectvi said, it depends on the maturity. And if the parent is there, I'm actually more encouraged by that since they are taking a place in the kids life. Is it the best movie? No, but maybe the parent explained some things after the film. I wasn't too happy with the mom who LEFT her 12 and 14 yr old and then came back when it was over. Those parents I like much less.

The official Dawn of the Dead 1979/2004 thread

Don't worry about it. I actually am very defensive of the slow zombies horror gore although I'd really like to see the slow and fast combined into one film. Like maybe the ones who came out of the ground are slow while the humans bite by the slow ones are the fast ones. Which would make sense and I still for the life of me can't figure out WHY that isn't how they worked DAWN. I've heard about "Undead" but I haven't seen it. I hear mostly it's a comedy but it has it's gory moments. Depends what you are looking for.
  16. I got Jersey and Eternal on the radar for this week if the damn theater shows Sunshine this week. Scooby Doo 2 can go to hell, but it's still going to win by a wide margain. When there is no more room in Hell, Scooby Doo will beat Jesus and Zombies

Sorry, I couldn't think of another word for the style it was. But this isn't the type of Romero will even think of making. He won't and he's too damn stubborn for his own good. I doubt he'll do the running zombies, which is what most studios will want now. I don't know, I think this hurt his chances for funding his movie but opened a new door for the "Shaun of the Dead" film. I still say RE2 does much better than this film so I'm paying closer attention to it than this one now. I did enjoy this film and yes, I know the original was loaded with comedy. But the original also had the grosser moments and the more graphic zombie eating humans that got George the dredded rating for a damn good while there. Damn MPAA I hope this movie holds up in the second weekend and doesn't drop to third like I'm expecting it too.

    The Rocks next movie

After this he either has that movie where he plays the Hawaiian King or he moves on to play in SPYHUNTER. Either way, Rock is set with roles for a long time.

If that happens, I just pray that it doesn't suck~! I know many years ago a computer company was working on a "zombie" video game and it was looking decent but they were behind on technology and the company folded under before it was finished. It was actually a very survival heavy, get out of the city before you die story. It never got past the early stages though. I still can't figure out why ROCKSTAR doesn't try it since they are good with the city landscapes anyway.
  20. I can't laugh cause it didn't crush Jesus. I mean, Passion has been out for a couple of weeks while Dawn has been hyped and hyped and hyped for a couple of weeks. It should have hit between 35-40 million since it was supposed to be the second big Summer blockbuster. I'm disappointed by that number, not shocked but disappointed. What's REALLY funny is a crappy movie with Freddie Jr WILL crush DAWN and JESUS next week. Jesus will have his rear kicked by fart and dick jokes! Now THAT is funny.

I don't know really. Like I said, the character just didn't "click" with me. How can a character who has a handful of scenes in a movie not click with you? I found nothing at all offensive or unappealing about his character. There were other characters in the movie that I disliked much more than him. As for the actual movie, I'm not a big horror fan (although I wouldn't consider most of these movies horror since contrary to popular belief, gory doesn't = horror), but this was more like a comedy, as most people have pointed out. There were instances where some people in the theatre jumped or even screamed, but overall, I wouldn't say this was anything more than a dark and gory comedy. As an aside, I was pretty upset to see a fucking child who couldn't have been more than four or five in the theatre as we left. It may not be my place to speak, but what sort of shitty parent takes their child to a movie of that nature? It wasn't scary but it sure as hell was gory and to a child, it may have been scary. So many parents are fucked up and have no right raising a child. A mom brought in her four children ranging 5 to 10 and those kids were also laughing at this movie. Maybe we got a different cut cause people were calling stuff before it would happen and then laughing when it happened. It just wasn't gory enough for me, I want to see some up close zombies eating humans. I felt like I was in Jay and Strike Bob Strike Back people were laughing so hard. No one screamed, just laughed harded with each death. Someone suggested that the Benny Hill theme should have been playing in the chase scene and I can't disagree. I LOVE the hilarity of this movie but I can't see it holding up well next week. When you tell people you have never laughed harder at a HORROR film, they tend to head to see something else. If anything, this movie has hurt Romero's chances of getting funding for making another zombie film very very badly since he may not want any part of the slapstick style.
  22. Yes, 1353 locactions to be exact. Did bout what I expected it to do. DAWN was below my 35 million dollar mark but a good margain and that Jesus fellow just refuses to stay down. As for next week, I say 1) Scooby Doo 2 2) Passion of the Christ 3) Dawn of the Dead 4) Jersey Girl 5) Eternal Sunshine 6) LadyKillers Jesus ain't going anywhere it seems.

I'll wait for a Dawn of the Dead game to begin production. I'm tired of damn puzzles that require me to hunt down the red Monkey ball for the Wizard of Oz statue so I can get the Golden Rod of despair for the Liberace memorial so the gate will open. I'm still waiting for a survival game that is just about survival and not answering riddles. This looks great I will admit, but I already killed the zombie townsfolk in Evil Dead: Fistful of Boomsticks. Cool that Leon is back and I do like the series, but I've just grown very weary of survival games that really aren't about survival.

Newsmagazine stories about the success of Medicare

Maybe the problem is most of us are young people who don't really give a damn about Medicare cause we are too busy drinking our Surge and playing our Pac Man video games. It is some sick stuff but the tv stations are just as big to blame. If you get a random tape from the White House and you air it, you shouldn't be one bit shocked what is on it. News stations ran the crap so they are just as stupid.

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind

I'm worried this film opened WAY too early to even get a shot at the nods. It sounds like everyone agrees that Carrey, Kaufman and Winslet SHOULD snag some nods for their work. But did this film open too early to get the nods? I mean, you have a Hanks-Spielberg movie coming out in the summertime so you know that's some nods. And if Carrey doesn't get a nod for this film, does he have a shot in hell of ever getting one?
