Man, sports radio is ripping into Vladdy today Apparently he thought he was still in Montreal, since he was absent from the playoffs
-
Good to see President Taft is alive and well
-
I still have yet to see any other official report of his death
-
The stock has gone down
-
Then there's the Larry Dierker era where they would keep making the playoffs and repeatedly get knocked out by Atlanta, although they've exorcised that demon the last two years. I just realized too... if the Astros win the WS, Phil Garner would join Terry Francona and Bob Brenly on the "THEY have a ring?" manager list
-
I just realized... if we get an Astros/White Sox WS, the sports' media sympathy meter will go through the roof. Of course we'll hear a shitload about the Black Sox, but we'll also probably be bombarded with Houston's hard-luck history as well as Biggs and Baggs being a long playing duo without a ring.

The W(TF)S

So the White Sox are going to the WS... *tumbleweeds blow through*
-
But the Cubs never had DISCO DEMOLITION NIGHT! YEAH BABY!
-
I'd say look to more recent history as well, namely the big faces of the two teams. Cubs - Sammy Sosa - portrayed as affable and goofy (at least until last year) White Sox - Frank Thomas - portrayed as aloof and surly

You have to tag with the ball-hand? I never knew that... I thought you just had to have the ball in possession
-
Sounds like the NCAA and west coast football
-
For a second I thought that was Steve Bartman II: Electric Boogaloo
-
I know the Sox-Yanks rivalry has a long history, but in recent times I don't remember the HUGE fuss coming about until the '03 ALCS, so that doesn't explain the previous WS.

Matt Young fails at logic
-
Yeah, but how many WS this decade have been ratings killers? Last year with Boston and '01 with NY post 9-11, essentialy. '00 - No one outside NY cared '02 - No one outside California cared '03 - Proved the Yankees are not automatic ratings
-
At this rate we could wind up with an Indy-Denver AFC title game ...which would probably mean Mr. AwShucks going to the SB...
-
A comeback could happen... though I'd laugh if the Cardinals just roll over and die tomorrow
-
I hope they decide to be the new Marlins for a few games. Angels too. Given the history of the ChiSox and Astros, a comeback from 3-1 wouldn't surprise me
-
The Cardinals are the new Braves
-
Good job gradually handing that lead away, Denver
-
I didn't know until this thread that there was a true story behind Domino, which I decided to look into. So, yeah, Hollywood dun fucked up this one. The previews just made it look like a generic action flick with a chick lead...

Bye bye Tony
