Okay, AFD is up there too, I'll admit But no two albums say 80's mainstream metal to me more than Theater of Pain and Look What the Cat Dragged In
-
to paraphrase myself on the same issue from somewhere else on this board I still don't get the "homophobe = possibly gay" thing, since I don't ever see a "white-supremacist = possibly black" claim being made

The Return of Eagen II: IN ANGER
-
Please. I wouldn't point any of my friends towards this place if you paid me. What if we pay them?
-
Isn't Round and Round a fucking kickass tune? Oh, and KISS' Asylum album. Good shit right there. Bon Jovi. Slippery When Wet. The quintessential 80's metal album. I would say Theater of Pain and Poison's first two

With TSE and Serenades, I love the crunchy slow guitars and growly vocals, pretty much Now, I don't think there's anything wrong with a band wanting to change its sound in principle, after all, I don't want the same album rehashed again and again (one reason why I dislike most power metal), but Anathema just changed into something I couldn't listen to anymore. I've gotten used to this though, since it's become a big trend by quite a few Euro-doom metal bands to lighten their sound and start adding electrono/techno stuff (which I am not against) but then misusing it (which I am). To me it almost always seems like these bands lose something in that change (Paradise Lost is one of the few that has pulled it off the whole way) Plus the Anathema singer's clean voice is too high for me to consider "doomy". Male doom singers to me should be in the low range (Arron Stainthorpe, Messiah Marcolin, Nick Holmes). These are all my opinions though. Your mileage may vary

Didn't see this until after I posted, so I'll respond separately I love TSE and Serenades. Eternity is allright. Judgement is bleh... I'd be hardpressed to even call them a metal band anymore by this point, which they've proven in subsequent releases

First, I see purism and elitism as the same essentially, to lay the groundwork for the rest of the post. Your POV doesn't sound like the purists' viewpoint at all. I think you just argued for why CoB is a BM band, really. From my experience, the BM-purist is the one who demands the exact type of music I described: Lacking technicality (i.e. just super-fast riffing for the most part, some keyboards) and satanic content. It is for those very reasons why I've heard the same type of people not include CoB as a BM band.
-
Children of Bodom isn't black metal. You piss off the purists with rubbish like that. Fuck the purists. Let me guess, it's not BM ust because it's a bit more technical and the lyrics aren't satanic? By that token, Immortal wouldn't be BM either. Alexi Laiho sure has a BM voice

Bret summed up my feelings about dragging the title, although that did fit in with Austin's "don't give a shit" character Don't forget Rick Steiner wearing the belt backwards around his waist
-
I've only heard of EHG and Down, and only listened to Down's music My area of specialization in metal is doom (MDB, Paradise Lost, older Anathema, etc.) and black (Emperor, Dimmu Borgir, Children of Bodom, Immortal, etc.), though I like a little something from all branches of the metal tree

I've never even heard of the band Crowbar

Since 1997, the SB has alternated between good and shit every year. This year should be a good one Well, except for that 2000 snoozefest with St. Louis winning. I don't care what people say about the first three quarters, but that last quarter with the Tennessee comeback and the Longest Yard play elevated that game to a good game, IMO

Dama is just hitting it on all cylinders, wow Especially on that last point. I hate the people who believe that the worst anime is still better than the best American animation. What if you're a girl? If you're hot then a bunch of guys want to bone you. If you're ugly or fat....wearing that costume.....well the Park Ranger could be after your ass. That pretty well sums it up

Back during the NWO peak in '97, when Hall would do the survey "Did you come to see... Dubya-C-Dubya...? ...or did you come to see the N...W...O...?" If the crowd was pro-WCW, the announcers would play it up bigtime, but if it was a pro-NWO crowd, they'd either no-sell it or write it off

I didn't know Prince posted here

Just need to hope the Vikings win out and finish 11-5, then hope Carolina drops down, so Minnesota gets the 3 seed, since I don't see them passing St. Louis or Philly Since Denver showed holes in KC's run defense, I'm much more optimistic for the game against KC now with the Vikings top-ranked offense... now if only the defense will show up

There's a reason for that. Skedaddle. And please, forgive me for not wanting to talk about masturbation, or having my parents walk in on me during said masturbation. If only my parents could be as open and accepting as your parents, this world would be a better place. Now shut the fuck up, emo kid. Saka.....nae. Mocking people in languages they probably don't know = K-RAD!

1998-Tennessee 1999-Florida St. 2000-Oklahoma 2001-Miami 2002-Ohio St. All teams finished the season undefeated, and where true National Champions. The BCS lucked out in almost all those years. '99 and '02 weren't big issues, because there were two unbeatens in the title game, but every other year had its controversy. '00 - BCS takes FSU over Miami, even though Miami beat FSU earlier in the year. '01 - BCS takes Nebraska over Oregon, in spite of the Cornfuckers not even making the Big XII title game in the first place, giving up 62 points to eventual conference champ Colorado. This year - Don't even need to get into that '98 - In light of '01 and this year, it's still possible that the BCS could have taken KSU to the title game instead of FSU

I like to enjoy the right mix of spice and flavor, so I suppose medium works for me. I don't like it when it's so spicy that I can't enjoy the flavor

I'm guessing you meant "their" face, but anyway In my opinion it's much better for a noted comedian/talkshow-host to actually mock celebrities to their face, rather than those who make fun of celebs when they're not around, but then act all buddy-buddy when the same celeb is in their presence/on their show
-
I'm pretty much the same
