Any optimism on my part that the Vikings defense had improved from the last three seasons is now woefully retracted
-
Dammit, what good is a ball control offense keeping the ball for 10 minutes when you let the other team drive down the field in 1 minute...
-
My halftime analysis on Rams-Vikings: Goods: Vikings are playing good ball control in this game, keeping the offense off the field and wearing down the defense. Bads: Defense is giving up too many easy plays, especially for high yardage, i.e. Bulger hitting two passes for 50 yards in the last 30 seconds of the half after the last Vikings TD to allow the Rams to get a FG. Also, absolutely no pressure on Bulger most of the time, so he's free to run and do whatever he wants.

Installed it, played for about an hour, definitely looks to be something special. If you like the Baldur's Gate/NWN series and you like Star Wars, you'll like this. Only problem is my comp does the "freeze'n'skip" during some battle scenes, even when I drop the res all the way down... I think it's the processor. Advice would be appreciated.

Meh, if Best Buy didn't want Joe Blow Checker talking about their numbers, they wouldn't continuously pound the numbers into their heads every single day I can't remember any other retail job I had where management talked openly about the numbers with the low-end employees. Usually those numbers were hush-hush and for managers and bookkeepers only. What! That wasn't in the fucking ads. Thanksgiving day ad, front page, center left As a former grocery employee, I can vouch for this

I don't like his music, myself, but have found him to be a very intelligent man in interviews That's the thing that saves him from reaching the status of, say, a Fred Durst (as I point out here)

I don't watch any pregame shows anymore I used to watch CBS because I loved Ditka, but then he left or got dumped. Next they brought in Marino and Esiason, who, while decent (in Boomer's case) or legendary (in Marino's) quarterbacks, are just dry as fuck, thus Deion goes over the top to compensate, and I got turned off. I don't watch ESPN for all the obvious reasons Fox's pregame show has degenerated into bad sketch comedy

I've found that problem too. Even when I get a wide selection of songs from a search, it feels like they transfer at .000005 kb/s Though if they are going to take control, I'd rather have them cut the songs off from the source rather than let us d/l everything and then track us down to sue us

<bob_barron mode: ON> What's bad about that? Most metal fans I believe would agree that RTL and MOP are prerequisite owning for a metal fan Yes well, like I said in my IMC thread, power metal is to the IMC what technical wrestlers are to the IWC. I thought they picked the best representatives of the genre (IE, BG, Hammerfall) I liked it, myself Well, it is a top 100 list, sacrifices have to be made. I believe the absence of brutal death comes from the fact that it's a niche audience even for the IMC. The IMC tends to favor melodic death (a la In Flames and the like) to brutal death... What would you have put on here for this category? Great band, but not top 100 worthy IMO Who? Not completely. They did have IE (though I thought Stormrider should've been on there, but that tends to get overlooked now because it doesn't have Barlow on it), BG, Hammerfall and Death, although those are all bands apparently you don't like. Quite frankly I can't think of that many albums from the last 13 years that would stand out over the big albums from the 80's when you would compile such a list I've seen people out there argue about TS' place in metal history. I'm still not sure myself Influential intelligent metal. At a time when most metal bands were either singing about partying or mystical evil stuff, they wrote heavy metal with intelligent lyrics. Unless the only thing you remember them for is "Silent Lucidity", then I could see your point Now you're just crazy... And I know you're a fairly intelligent guy, AoO, but this hate strikes me as curious <bob_barron mode: OFF>

Trust me when I tell you that you won't. You'll be locked at 19,999 forever

And therein, you've found the dirty little secret of BB (and for most retails I imagine, but BB is the one I'm most familiar with) Why do they push promos so much? They bring in the money Why do they push PSP/PRPs? They bring in the money (almost 100% profit, those things) And more money for the parent company means big bonuses for management (wanna know why they keep emphasizing that numbers' board every morning/evening?), which results in them pushing that onto you, but being the low-end labor, you get nothing beyond your wages and discount. That is why they're management though, deserved or not. But hey, I'm not telling you anything you didn't already know

Even as an ardent 'Husker hater this surprised me Before the season was even over... a winning season... and fired right after a win I could understand them firing him last year (when he went 6-6) but this baffles me Hell, it took Osborne 23 years before he ever won a national championship (with a couple shots here and there), and Solich did get his shot in '01 (undeservedly, but that's another story)

Christ, while I was in line I had FOURE SEPARATE CSRs try to pimp some extended warranty on the DVD player I bought. There was also this chick with a reindeer antler "hat" pimping gift cards and two guys pimping that "rewards" card. When they came to my neck of the woods I flashed mine out and they kept walking -- I was the hero for the group around me because they were tired of getting hassled by these floating CSRs... That is the exact type of feedback most businesses should hear. It's okay and all to promote special things like that but it's no good shoving it down the customer's fucking throats. This goes double for Sears, who I used to work for. How many times did I hear customers bitching about how all the cashiers are forced to shove Sears Cards down their throats. I like Best Buy though, I'm not terribly upset about the magazine/Rhapsody/gift card thing because no one came after me about it. Until then, Best Buy is still my favorite place to work. Ahh yes, I remember my Best Buy days, during the whole MSN rebate promotion... thankfully I was merch, so I didn't have to deal with that shit as much as the sales folks, but they'd still have expectations for us to do occasional selling and promoting, to which I would say "You're paying me to stock shelves and re-arrange shit, not to sell shit... especially when you know I'm not a customer-oriented person. That's what sales folks are for" Yeah, I know I probably should have had some expectations, but really, I'm not a salesman, nor will I ever be one. Thankfully they got the hint after the first couple of months (out of two years there) and left me alone Now that I think about it, a week from Monday is the two year anniversary of my departure (think about that one)

Okay I see it now, ESPN's Gamecast as always is behind things...

WASP = excellent melodic metal, over the top image aside They even have Crimson Idol up there (#98), which I marked out for, since it's an excellent concept album IMO... it's not explicitly stated, I believe it's supposed to be symbolic of the fall of metal from the mainstream in the wake of grunge (it was made in '92).
-
Yes, I'd definitely say there's an 80's lenience (about 3/4 of the list, by visual count), but given that it was metal's mainstream peak, that's understandable Now while it's more of an IMC list than a mainstream list (where you wouldn't see near as many relatively obscure but still good albums) I'm definitely glad to see bands like Iced Earth, Blind Guardian, Hammerfall, Death and In Flames get some love.
