    GHETTOPOLY~!

Of course rednecks won't be offended by it 1. Rednecks are too dumb to be offended, and 2. They couldn't read the game

    GHETTOPOLY~!

I'd always thought of racism as being hateful or biased based on race. Racists of course will use stereotyping, but non-racists will sometimes engage in stereotyping as well, just like some non-racists will still laugh at racial jokes. In short, shitloads of people stereotype. It's human nature, IMO. I'm not claiming it to feel better (if you wish to insist on that from here on, okay), I just don't see it, but like I said, I'm just an insensitive bastard. Which I will admit that I do. Not sure if anti-PC can be equated with "cool," as it seems like the "cool" thing to do now is love everyone unequivocally, never say anything remotely bad about anyone and condemn the hell out of those who do. But yes, I see how people are offended by this, and I know just because it amuses me (offensive humor will always have a niche) that it doesn't make it right in the big picture, and of course, in the end, it'll be the money that decides who wins.

    WWE Banning Even More Moves

Do you not watch Raw? Touché Soon even the restholds will be deemed dangerous and one wrestler will just lay down for the other after the first second. Then someone will get injured doing that and we'll have to resort to interviews only, no more wrestling. Then someone will get a sore throat from interviews so we'll have Ironman Standoffs where wrestlers stand at each other's corner and look menacing at each other for minutes on end. Then someone will get a hernia (or hemmheroid) from straining too hard to look menacing, and after that wrestlers will just hang around in back all show while fans watch an empty ring for two hours. Halfway there

    GHETTOPOLY~!

One other problem I might see coming from this is it seems the creator of the game is Chinese, based on his last name (OMG stereotype)... if a black dude made this to mock his own race, would it be as big an issue?

    GHETTOPOLY~!

You mean it isn't? I chuckled a bit, but I'm an insensitive lummox Although stereotyping is not the same as racism, IMO.

Ok, so say what you will about me...

Are they the original cartoons, or the edited versions that have been airing over the last 15 years or so? I can see putting the violence and gunplay (mock suicides and the like) back in, but something tells me the blackface jokes (which I remember, somehow, were still left in some of the cartoons as later as '90 or so) will remain cut out.

    Interesting Column

In all the bashing of the factual issues within the article (I thought the history "lesson" was unnecessary, myself), the main point of his article became quite buried: Have internet fans (smarks) ruined wrestling? To me it seems to fall back to two major schools of thought : 1. The people who still watch in hopes of the product improving and bitch about what they hate, and 2. The people who don't watch anymore but still hang around just to tell group 1 to either shut up or stop watching. So what is a fan to do? We bitch because we hate what we see, but we have no effect on the business. We want to watch in hopes of improvement, and sometimes we feel like walking away because we remember how it used to be good, but it's hard to give up something when you've been a fan for so long (although necrophelia does make it a bit easier) and remember "the good ol' days"

Fred Phelps to put anti-gay monument @ public park

Because this young man was the perfect face for what intolorance can lead to. Just as ...jesus, I can't remember his name and my mom would kick my ass right now if she knew, but the young black boy that was beaten to death for looking(or whistling) at a white woman was the line that everyone drew and he became the poster child for the racial intolorance. Whites and blacks together wept when they heard the story of how this child was beaten. With Sheppard, those that believed that homosexuality was not immoral and those that did both came together and saw how ugly the hatred can be. It WAS bigger than a young man getting killed for his wallet. This is the case that led many to start to teach their children tolorance and that it is okay to not agree with this, but to hate is wrong. You want to know how much of a difference it made? This "We don't hate gays, we hate what they do." thing wasn't as wide spread amoung the christian community before this crime. It opened everyones eyes. While I see what you're saying, I certainly didn't see any of this "opening up" in the midwest. While not everyone around here is as bad as Phelps, homosexuality is still not well looked upon, save for on college campuses, which of course tend to be socially liberal by default. Of course, I got so tired of hearing about "Shepard this, Shepard that" (and essentially the oversaturation of "tolerance" in general) all the damn time from the media back then that I pretty well shut out anything relating to the incident afterwards.

Fred Phelps to put anti-gay monument @ public park

A black eye on my homestate if ever there was one, even a majority of the Xtians right here in the state don't like the guy. On a separate note, one thing that always got me about Shepard was the media coverage the case got, including the MFTV movie... if he was some dude who just got killed for, say, his wallet, rather than for hitting on the wrong guy, probably no one outside of his city would know who he was. Both scenarios are wrong, but why does his case warrant so much attention? He's certainly not the first person to lose his life because of his sexuality, and certainly hasn't been the last either. EDIT: Nevermind, the Mr. Rodgers question got answered while I was writing this

    The Mullets

Did anyone watch it last night? I did not (baseball), but my digi-guide (while I was channel surfing during commercials) said it was about backyard wrestling. As if backyard wrestlers needed any worse of a reput.... oh, nevermind.

What the hell happened to solos?

Reading through the list, I couldn't help but notice that almost all of the solos that I recognized (couldn't place all of them) were from the 70's and 80's and at latest early/mid-90's... Now while I still hear great solos from relative underground hardrock and metal bands, this is concerned with the current mainstream face of guitar rock, which either falls into two categories: The new hard rock that I dunno if there's an official genre name for (referring to the likes of Nickelback, Chevelle, Puddle of Mudd, etc.) and nu-metal. So, where have all the solos gone? Are current guitarists lazy and not wanting to learn solos when it's easier to pound out power chords on drop tuned guitars, or do radio stations not wang longer solo-filled songs taking away from precious commercial time, or is it something else? What are your thoughts on the matter

What the hell happened to solos?

Seriously though, I still feel solos have their place in guitar rock, and plenty of hardrock and metal bands still do them... you just won't be hearing those songs on the radio
