NWATNA tell Styles to distance himself from ROH
Michrome replied to eirejmcmahon's topic in TNA Wrestling
Yeah....except they're NOT a number 2 promotion. They don't come close to paying their guys enough to be exclusive, and oh yes, NOBODY WATCHES THEM. This has gotta be the most idiotic thing ever. RoH just smoked TNA's paid attendance record at 3/13, and TNA is getting worried. A few months ago, MKJ told me he was worried TNA would do this with AJ and Punk if RoH grew...looks like he was right. Good thing AJ refused. -
I guess that was a brainfart...I just started reeling off some names that came to mind. The Ace Steele thing was a fucking joke too. Take a world class worker and throw him in short little spotfests that he doesn't excell at, and then blast him for not doing well at them. Not that they would ever use him right, anyway.

There are so many TREMENDOUS non-star Indy guys they can add: Alex Shelley Jimmy Jacobs Ace Steele Nigel Mcginniss BJ Whitmer Joey Ryan Jimmy Rave Austin Aries Danny Daniels Roderick Strong B-Boy That's just off the top of my head.

Kojima is a heavyweight, and yes, he got over like mad at the RoH show. Very charismatic. "I'm fucking Japanese!!" -
Benoit is 'just a transitional champion'...
Michrome replied to Use Your Illusion's topic in The WWE Folder
The ladder match point is silly--everyone was reporting it, including Keller and Scherer until they reported that it was off about 2 weeks before the show. All 3 said the plan was for it to be a last minute addition to the match, but then they decided it would be better to end mania with a pin in the middle of the ring. -

By the way...if they bring NOAH over to face Elix Skipper, Frankie Kazarian, and other clowns, I will cry many tears. What a waste that would be...put AJ and Chris Daniels on Team TNA and give us some dream matches. -

If it's NOAH, they have my ten bucks. NOAH's juniors > Tory anyday. GIMME NOAH. -
That "public statement" was actually a fake. It was tracked to Europe.
-
Probably Teddy Hart.

The hit-the-gym comment is borderline retarded, I've met Punk, and he's ripped. He's not thick and roided up, but he's definitely believable. I'm sure the "national exposure" Punk got from TNA has really helped him so much. He puts over a company with good wrestling and no glass ceiling in his livejournal. He doesn't put over a company that gives him worthless 4 minute tag matches and a FUCKING MOUTHPIECE for each show. Unbelievable, one of the best talkers anywhere given a mouthpiece. What's next, Abyss gets a bodyguard? Punk will be a popular wrestler here, in Europe, and in Japan far after TNA dies.

Have you been following NJ lately? Taguchi and Gotu are both getting huge pushes, and neither Daniels or Dragon is booked for the 3/28 show, they are coming back home after 3/21. As far as I know, Daniels isnt on the April tour either, which leads me to believe we're about to see a title change. I hope not

There are so many great WCW TV matches, I don't know where to start. Hell, the Spring Stampede 99 tag deserves to be on here too.
-
There is one Japanese match I know they have rights to, and that's Benoit vs. Ohtani in the finals of the cruiserweight tournament. This match HAS TO BE ON THERE. Best CW title match ever for me, above Rey-Eddy and Rey-Dragon. This match ruled.
-
I don't expect any Japanese stuff, though it would be nice.
-
This was already defeated.
-
Yep, they totally abandoned everything they built to and went into finisherville.
-
I expect them to drop the belts at 3/21, but I still marked out for this. By the way, having watched the match, it was DAMN good for a Gedo/Jado match. Yeah.

A lot of matwork in NJ Juniors has a lot to do with wearing down your opponent before you can hit the big moves. In the beginning, they'd be fast enough to avoid any big spot or move, but once worn down, they'll be susceptible. And what WP said.

I think the WWE is in crisis. No Brock, no Goldberg, no Angle, no Rock, Austin can't wrestle, Foley will be around for another month, Michaels has a torn ACL.....I think it's time to merge back into one tent again, but that's just me. HHH will be the main heel on one side, but who will be on the other? Big Show? I just *know* they're going to make Eddy carry Hunter.

The RoH 3-way isn't even close to my favorite indy match, but I was just giving it as an example. Quality of work does matter in rating a match. That match last night, with the same story and higher quality work WOULD HAVE BEEN BETTER. That's why it ain't *****. In terms of telling stories within matches, I see far more complex storytelling on the US Indies today than I see in the WWE, where Michaels pulls a Corino every match to add heat. If heat/atmosphere/attendance is a factor, does that mean everything from WM XIX automatically had an advantage over WM XX because the attendance was more than doubled? Just curious.
-
It all depends. Last night's matwork was rendered meaningless by Eddy and Angle going to a dumbed down WWE finisherville ending sequence to the match that killed my enjoyment of it. If you replace the Ankle lock with more rib-based moves at the end, like gutbusters, powerslams, superplexes, and an Angle slam for the nearfall, I think the match woulda been much better. Oh, and it woulda been nice for Eddy to sell the ribs on his frog splash. Omigod I ripped Eddy Guerrero.

If there's anyone more obnoxious than the uber smarks, it's the insane anti-smarks. Nobody would rate that match any higher if CM Punk was in it. I don't think you could honestly watch the ROH 3-way from 2/23/02, and then watch this one, and tell me the work was better in this one with a straight face. It's not as if Indy fans rate all CM Punk matches ***** or anything. Have you ever seen a Punk match outside of TNA? Punk wouldn't have the same type of match, so it's an absurd comparison. You come across so clueless in the above post that I feel embarrassed for you.
-
Snuffbox, you're really embarrassing yourself. Honestly, I just have a headache reading your posts. I thought the match was a very good 3-way, probably in the ***1/2 range. Maybe *you* should go watch a Best of Jumbo Tsuruta tape, and come back with a clue.
-
These ratings are just hilarious. If that 3-way was *****, the February 2002 RoH 3-way was ******. Honestly, I loved the match and all, but that's just being ridiculous. Angle-Eddy wasn't close to what he gave it either. They through a match full of intense build out the window for a mindless finisher-city finish that rendered the rest of the match pointless. Disappointing.
