I don't really see how Jarrett-Styles could be any better than ***1/2, even with a ton of time. I think we keep forgetting that Jarrett just isn't even close to the level he was at in 2000, let alone the early 90s. Outside of his match with Booker at BaTB 2000, I've been pretty disappointed with virtually every Jarrett performance I've seen since he came back to WCW. Almost everyone I've talked to that went to 11/29 is saying it's Samoa Joe's best RoH match, which means it should be great. Jarrett's one of those frustrating guys that you know could put out a **** match, but it just doesn't happen.

Eddie/Crazy vs. SAT

I don't see how it was any good. The first half made me want to stick a screwdriver into my temple it was so boring. Sure, there was an exciting ending, but that alone doesn't make the match good. The most underrated match in my opinion was Rey and Matt from Smackdown. A brilliant match that didn't follow the usual spotty style.

JAPW/ROH holding joint show in January
Michrome replied to LucharesuFan619's topic in General Wrestling
If this does end up crushing MLW, it will be their own fault for trying a booking pattern that definitely seemed like it was going after RoH. Homicide vs. Ki is an RoH main event, but it's not an MLW main event, and the fact that they want to re-open with a main event with one midcarder and a guy who hasnt debuted yet says it all. I await Homicide's decision to work the JAPW show. -
Where to start: 1993 1993 was a horrible year for WCW, with some of the most laughably horrible angles in history. However, there is a story to be told about WCW in 93, specifically, the story of Flair coming back to save the company. Key things to show: DISC 1 1) Sting-Vader Feud: --clips from various matches --ALL the White Castle of Fear stuff --the volleyball at the beach angle. --As for the match, the “White Castle Of Fear” Strap Match from Superbrawl was great and fitting for this. 2) The return of Flair: --Show various clips of fans chanting “we want Flair” while Flair was in the WWF. --Someone can explain what happened with Sid, preferably Arn. --Flair vs. Vader from Starrcade --One Last Time: Flair vs. Steamboat, WCWSN 3) Hulk Hogan comes to WCW --Contract signing and ridiculous parade --Various Angles building up the match --Hogan vs. Flair at Bash At The Beach --Explain the influx of guys like Duggan and Traylor, and have Foley and Austin talk about being bounced from the company. --Hollywood Blondes vs. Ricky Steamboat/Shane Douglas (Clash 21) 4) Nitro is Born --Eric Bischoff Narrarates this section --Lex Luger shows up on the first show --Bischoff gives away Raw results --Sting vs. Flair on the first show ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- DISC 2 5) Invasion --Scott hall’s debut Angle, and subsequent appearances --Kevin Nash powerbombs Bischoff through a table --Full 6-man at Bash At The Beach, including Hogan speech 6) A Man Called Sting --Fake Sting stuff, WCW turns on Sting --At Fall Brawl, Sting goes silent --Uncensored 97, Sting sides with WCW --Various clips of Sting kicking NWO ass --Sting vs. Hulk Hogan (Starrcade 97) 7) The Cruiserweights --Rey vs. Ultimo Dragon (World War III 96) --Eddie Guerrero vs. Dean Malenko (Uncensored 97) --Rey Jr. vs. Billy Kidman (Nitro 99) 8) Goldberg --Goldberg obliterates all of the opponents --Goldberg beats Raven for the US Title --Goldberg vs. Hulk Hogan (World Title), Wrestlers talk about what a mistake this was. --Goldberg vs. DDP (Halloween Havoc) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- DISC 3 9) The Slide --Goldberg loses to a taser at Starrcade --Various Ex-WCW wrestlers give their take on what caused WCW to sink, with clips of what they talk about following their comments --David Flair Angle at Superbrawl --Goldberg becomes a second thought --Master P, and other ridiculous music acts 10) Vince Russo’s attempts --This can be Vince’s shot to bash Russo, and they can show all of the ridiculous angles he tried the first time around. --The Powers That Be --Sting vs. Goldberg with no hype. --Reprising Montreal to reform the NWO --Pinata on a pole match --Oklahoma --Benoit, Malenko, Guerrero, and Saturn leave WCW. --Vince Russo tries again with the New Blood Angle --Jeff Jarrett’s title wins --Hulk Hogan’s transformation --David Arquette wins the world title. 11) Hidden Gems within the slide --Chris Jericho’s man of 1004 holds interview --DDP vs. Sting (April 99) --Booker T vs. Chris Benoit (First of the series) --Ric Flair vs. Rey Mysterio Jr. (March 99) --Booker T vs. Jeff Jarrett (BaTB 2000) Easter Eggs: --Arn Anderson’s retirement. --NWO’s Horsemen Spoof --Bret Hart/Goldberg Angle from WCW in 99 with the steel plate --Flair’s first strip down crazy old man interview --One of the NWO Nazi-style propaganda commercials --Chavo’s reaction to Pepe meeting the wood chipper --Ralphus in a dress

I put it elsewhere because that other thread was pretty much 90% smarmy bullshit about how Vince would blame Bret for everything or whatever. I just wanted to hear some ideas.
-
How was attendance?
-
It was a million times better than it had any right to be, I haven't watched it in a while, but remember thinking it was like ****ish. Flair-Hart is a better ironman, and I think the ROH one is a bit below Rock-Hunter.
-
I downloaded a DVD rip at bitorrent, and the parts end with .cue, how do I play this?
-
It has less to do with that and more to do with other promoters in the area fucking them over. Then again, I don't like the idea of putting a barbed wire match on in a middle school anyways.
-
Have you ever seen their shows? Honestly, this promotion makes TNA look like AJPW in the mid 90s.
-
MLW will surely find a way to make it suck.
-
Can *someone* help me with this MIRC thing? I am in there, and it says to send a message a certain way to get a vid, and I *keep* doing it, but it's not working. How do you send the message? What do you type? Am I doing something wrong? Ahhhhh
-
Did you figure it out?
-
Well, I mean, I guess I am an "anti-mark", since it's basically no better than Nitro was in the dying days, but this time you have to pay 10 bucks a week for it. For 10 bucks a week, you should get at least ONE good-great 15-20 minute match per show, along with whatever angles they want to do. Instead, it's like a crapshoot, where you end up getting a bunch of 7-10 minute matches with angles for guys like Jeff Jarrett and the Harris Brothers.
-
Sting's appearance did pop a bigger buyrate, at least the first time he came. However, it went back down to prior levels soon after, seeing as they failed to capitalize on his appearance with a strong show.
-
The problem is that it's Jeff Jarrett, and if you're trying to get mainstream fans to watch, these are the same fans that will forever see him as Honky Tonk Man II.
-
You're such a TNA mark it's ridiculous. The fans in Boston SHAT ALL OVER the Raven-Punk cage match for sucking, and guess what, it had a lot of blood. What was really *so* great about the cage match? Just about every TLC absolutely blows it out of the water, except for the crappy TLC 2002 on Raw. There were some really cool big spots in the match, and some really crappy ones too (the contrived, ridiculous spear spot). Oh yes, the senseless climbing up the cage when you can only win by pinfall boggled the mind too. RoH has had numerous tag matches better than this one that were not called MoTYCs, so I have no clue what you're talking about. It's laughable that bitter fans of TNA, mad that the product sucks and defending it to the bitter end, take out their anger on Ring Of Honor. For what? Whose fault is it that TNA forces Styles, Ki, and Daniels to work a spotfest style? Whose fault is it that CM Punk is horribly misused? Whose fault is it that they are building toward a big main event with Hulk Hogan? Whose fault is it that Michael Shane is the X Division champ? It must be RoH's fault, because they have better matches! You can keep paying 9.99 weekly for Thunder, but just because they throw out a solid match once in a while doesn't make it a MoTYC.
-
Everything's a **** match as long as it has blood!
-
I've seen that match, it's an underseen ****1/2 classic, and that rating is from seeing it with commercial breaks.
-
No, because it would be 4,000,000 pages long given how shitty the product is recently.
-
They are sloppy as hell, rarely have good matches, and are incapable of working a good babyface hot tag. The Briscoes, The Backseat Boys, the Dudleys, Spanky/London, The Bashams, the FBI, Kidman/Rey, Los Guerreros, WGTT, Jacobs and Shelley, Tumeric Storm, Tanaka/Ohtani, and NUMEROUS other teams are worlds better.
-
Hahahahah....oh man.
-
The justification for giving the match **** seems to be, "It didn't suck as much as usual", which is pretty sad. Hell, that goes for all of the great, glowing reviews of this PPV. 3 years ago we would have shit all over this whole show for the lack of good wrestling and three HORRIBLE matches (HHH-Berg, Kane-Shane, Taker-Vince). I guess this is what happens when expectations are low.
-
I think your rating of the Raw tag is nuts. Sure, it was dramatically sound once it was one on three, but there was still very little wrestling that could actually be called "good" in that match. Hell, there wasn't any. Shawn did a killer bladejob, and worked the crowd really well, but it was overbooked to hell at the finish.
