Unfortunately, I got confirmation from Mike Johnson with the DVD that "a special night in greenville" is indeed the Flair celebration after the Raw match, not the 9/14/98 segment....maybe they will put it on the Monday Night Wars DVD...
-
In mid-late 96, the main event storyline stuff was really intriguing in WCW, even if the blowoffs always sucked dick in the end.
-
Yes, and putting Foley over HHH would be great for business, because it would get Foley over for his upcoming run on top...oh wait. NEW STARS NEED TO BE MADE ON RAW, one time special matches are nice, but they don't help anyone.
-
You're kidding right? 1bob constantly uses anonymous (read: made up) sources to give quotes on how "bad" things are in the WWE locker room. Ever since its inception it has been horribly biased in favor of WCW and ECW for obvious reasons, and now it's biased in favor of TNA. They have reported some of the most ridiculous things in the past that turn out to be utter lies.
-
Sadly, all reports are that they worked a WWE style match that was under 6 minutes, so I can't see it being anything special. American Dragon is a better worker than just about everyone in the WWE, outside of Benoit and Guerrero.
-
Why should he get in shape when HHH won't either? Sorry, but I can't see them duplicating what they've done in the past because Foley's fat and out of shape, and HHH blows now. And how would that help future business? ugh
-
The WO is far more accurate than 1bob ("Bret Hart is coming back to lead the invasion!"), so I wanna wait to see what Meltzer says.

Summerslam 01 was **** to me, but outside of that, I think he has been close many times, but his matches lack the final push...selling.

I've always been baffled by how this goes down. One person posts a review, and asks for feedback. Someone gives feedback, and disagrees with part of it. Then the person who gave said opinion in the first place and those who agree all jump in and say, "It's only an opinion everyone has their own!!!" Exactly, and that's why Tim has the opinion that you overrated it. Why do only columnists get an opinion? Can't readers disagree? Or is that being snobby?

What happened?

PWG "An Inch Longer than Avarage" this weekend!
Michrome replied to PsychoDriver's topic in General Wrestling
Unfortunately I'm out of town for this show, but next time I'll be there :0 -
well at least there could be a good main event....guh.
-
Based on those ratings I want to buy the show, would other people concur with them? I really have a hard time believing Rave vs. B-Boy was ****1/2, but hey, I haven't seen it and anything is possible.

Was Ki-Daniels even ***? It seems like it was short based on how the results came in.

Foreign aid for welfare purposes generally doesn't work, even after world war II Japan recovered faster with less economic aid than Europe. It's far better to give aid to build a structural government that can facilitate growth than to just give out money. I always laugh when people say that foreign aid money could be going into medicare or social security. As if we can solve the structural problems within these systems by just pumping more money into them and delaying the inevitable collapse. Most foreign aid has a purpose however, and as long as we disguise foreign aid with a purpose as foreign aid for welfare reasons, it will be impossible to stop it.

Now that I think about it, I think a special night in Greenville is probably the HHH thing...*sigh*

I predict a draw.

Sting's last shot will surely be at the February PPV. I want Sting vs. Styles. Will I get it? Nope!

Change your topic.

Hey, I just got to see Sting-Jarrett from this last week, and Sting isn't half as bad as Hogan, Luger, Steiner(s), or Duggan. Hell, while they were actually in the ring, he was hitting the ropes harder than Jarrett was, he was moving with great speed, and did a great job getting the fans into the match. Sadly, they wasted a lot of time doing some garbage brawling, but I actually enjoyed the match between the two. Jarrett is a shell of what he used to be as well. Sting-Styles if it ever happened could be a damn good match, Sting still has gas left in the tank, and his charisma is still through the roof.

Ki-Daniels will range from eh to great depending on many factors. If they only get 10 minutes and are thus forced to work a spotty style, I can't see it being anything special. If TNA decides to give them 15-20 with a clean finish it could be really good. I'm not a fan of Chad Collyer, but I think he and Sabin could have a good match. I'd order, but I refuse to justify TNA's decision to bring in Luger by giving them a buy. Sorry.

That's laughable. RVD had some good matches in 2001, namely the Unforgiven match with Jericho, the No Mercy 3-way, and the Invasion match with Jeff Hardy. However, none of them even came close to Angle's best matches.
-
Oh my god this is awesome. It is missing only one thing of note, that being the Starrcade 93 match vs. Vader, but everything else is ab fab. A special night in Greenville....the best Nitro segment EVER.

--HHH vs. Rikishi from Smackdown --Booker vs. Bret from early 99 Nitro --Bret vs. Benoit matches on Nitro other than the Owen memorial. --Kane vs. Mankind (HIAC) in 98 --Benoit vs. The Rock on Benoit's third Raw, Benoit wins it. --Jericho vs. HHH from April 2000 where Jericho wins the belt. God what a markout moment. --Chris Benoit vs. Scott Hall in the lone good match of the first Russo era --Chris Benoit vs. Sting in Sting's last good match.
