What I think is fascinating is that your argument is basically that the free market which creates products for all niches available does not apply to wrestling. What exactly makes wrestling any different from other economic commodities? A new big startup company would surely have some huge WWE names that OVW doesn't have (at least on a regular basis).

Ric Flair never drew money then? Honestly, what are you talking about? In 2000, Fully Loaded did amazingly well for a PPV with little to no hype featuring the three young guys against the established stars. In 1998, Souled Out did a great buyrate for Flair-Hart despite all of the "mark favorites" intentionally staying off the show for political reasons.

And yes, people like Eddy, Lesnar, Benoit, etc WOULD do tours in Japan. Hell, when Eddy was fired a while back, he was doing all sorts of Indy wrestling and providing some great matches that were a lot of fun to watch, a hell of a lot more fun to watch than him spraying dog shit at the Big Show. Vince Mcmahon destroyed wrestling in America, and it's going to take a while to bring it back. The sooner he's gone, the better. Cable companies look down on wrestling because of the shit Vince has pulled. Making girls strip on television, mud matches, etc. The public perception of wrestling is at an all-time low, and as long as Vince is around, that ain't gonna change. By the way, a lot of people that make tons of money spend it because they expect to keep making money. A lot also want to keep making money so they can keep living a great life. You don't think Lesnar, who has been making real money for 2 years, would do huge payoffs against Misawa and Kobashi? You're nuts.
-
Yep, because they don't want to compete with Vince. An empty market with no competition will be jumped on right away.

You underestimate the power of capitalism. If WWE was gone, there would surely be some other rich billionaire out there (Like Rupert Murdoch) that would see the market in a national wrestling company and put it together. It's one of the great things about a free market, there will always be an alternative as long as there's a market for it--and there is.

I'm GIDDY about the possibility of Liger and Danielson in the same ring. The best junior of the last generation against the best junior of this one. Man, a motivated Liger and Danielson in the same ring...puts GOOSEBUMPS ALL OVER~! This is a big chance for Danielson to get over in NJPW, as before this he's been put in random 6-man tags and such where he didn't get to shine at all.

You realize that there are huge paydays waiting for these guys in Japan, don't you? Benoit would be a huge draw in Japan now, they all know his work, as would Eddie and some of the other old NJPW guys. Benoit vs. Liger after all these years would be a big deal. In addition, many in Japan see American Wrestling as the real big leagues, which is why Hulk Hogan is such a draw. People like Kurt Angle, Brock Lesnar, and other sorts would draw huge against guys like Misawa and Kobashi in Japanese dream matches. It would completely change the landscape of puro, and probably bring puro back to its heights. You also realize that certain wrestlers will command big paydays to wrestle in certain territories, and only the succesful ones will be able to bring them in don't you? Or do you think that the territories era was mythical and didn't really exist? You act as if there was no wrestling before Vince Mcmahon, for god's sakes. As a wrestling fan, I hope for the fall of the WWE. The product is horrible, and their wrestlers could make a ton of money elsewhere as well and put on far better matches elsewhere. Plus, if WWE fell, there would surely be companies to rise up to prominence. When a superpower falls, it doesn't mean there will never be a superpower again. It generally means that there will be a new one soon enough.

I'd watch it exactly the same way I watch wrestling now, I'd buy tapes.
-
If the WWE dies, we will be back to the days of territories in the U.S., and I'd get to see a bunch of dream matches with WWE guys vs. Indy guys and some big WWE guys going over to Japan for money matches. I don't watch wrestling on TV now anyways, so if WWE goes under and I get to see matches like Chris Benoit vs. Bryan Danielson, Kurt Angle vs. Chris Hero, etc, I'll be extremely happy.
-
The Wm before it didn't do well either. I honestly am not worried about this at all, it can only either result in Vince realizing something is wrong or the destruction of the company and the strengthening of the Indies and Japan.

There's no way in hell Low Ki will ever be even close to Ric Flair. Maybe when he decides to sell he can start his way up the ladder, but until then he's just a stiff wrestler that doesn't sell shit. Styles has improved a ton, but I hate his silly spots (Kip-up rana, streetfighter 2 combinations).

I want to see Tenzan vs. Nagata for the gold now, that's a long time coming, and would be superb.

Tremendous ROH Rant I found...
Michrome replied to Phoenix Fury Legdrop's topic in General Wrestling
CZW has some good matches, but the gory stuff they do brings down the whole promotion to me. I guess I'm just really not into it. -
I still find it absolutely amazing that you are able to pry into the minds of the fans there, all of which say the crowd was deeply split, and decide that they didn't really think that. Were you born with this ability? There is a market for it. The Hogan and Rocky chants at WM were different types of chants, they weren't as long as "Let's go London" and "Let's go Dragon." Count the syllables, and think about what it would sound like in your head if "Let's Go Dragon" and "Let's Go London" were screamed over each other. Then go back and watch the tape and hear the various names and chants sound like a mixture of the 2 at times. The two sections of the fans were taking turns trying to be LOUDER than the other section in support of their favorite. How hard is this to comprehend?

Well, he explained the Hart situation in detail, and it's obvious that the lockerroom would never want him back.

Raven interview and TNA news from the Torch
Michrome replied to EdwardKnoxII's topic in TNA Wrestling
I love the Torch's anonymous sources. A wrestler finally admitted that "the torch sucked balls." -
I'm tempted to call in and beg him to change the fucking announcers. Honestly, that's the worst part of RoH by far. The announcers should be MARKS.
-
Should be a workrate classic. Hopefully it's more of an angle than a match.
-
He never did it, maybe that's why he was unbanned.
-
They were trying to be louder than the other, actually.

See, it doesn't matter if you were there, Rudo knows what you were thinking. Don't lie, he sees right through your charade!

Meh, he can't do it half as well as Danielson. -
Tremendous ROH Rant I found...
Michrome replied to Phoenix Fury Legdrop's topic in General Wrestling
Insulting ROH isn't blasphemy, just try to be logical about it. Okay? Saying a product has no emotion when it clearly has plenty of emotion shows you've never watched the product, or you're looking to dislike it when you do. It would make as much sense for me to go up to the WWE folder and bash them for having too much pure wrestling and not enough story-driven matches. -

He could easily be the Dean Malenko of the division. -

I guess the "X Division Styles" is putting no thought into matches and just doing numerous mindless spots, blowing 30% of them, but getting over for the 70% you hit.
