With no replay listed on the schedule, so I guess we just get screwed this week.
-
I was reading the press release for the Hardcore Homecoming and I can't lie and say the ECW fan in me got excited, but I still can't help thinking that Douglass could be using the energy he's using promoting this show promoting a northeastern TNA show -- like the often talked about Pittsburgh show. I just feel like since there's already going to be an ECW show, the business as a whole would benefit more by Shane helping TNA get out of Orlando. Thoughts?
-
That's very true. I'd decided to get the DVD a couple of days ago, and went ahead and ordered it, so hopefully I'll get it by next week. Now the question is, do I get Hard Justice or the Against All Odds DVD next month...
-
Has anyone heard anything about a timeslot being associated with these talks? Just wondering.
-
I'd consider any deal where they didn't have to pay a step up, even if it was a renegiotated deal for the same slot.

Tomorrow show is gonna be hard to stomach for most, because I'm sure the announcers will be berating Candido's heel tactics. It's kinda like how the WWE couldn't show too many Owen clips because the commentary during his matches wasn't usually favorable. Either way...I can't believe he's gone. I've been enjoying his comeback and he was singlehandely responsible for me caring about the Naturals again. R.I.P Chris Candido

I don't think it's pointless since it's a well known fact that TNA was considering having Douglass promote for them up North, and since this is a message board, discussion is general encouraged. Also, I never said Philly. In fact, I'm pretty sure I said Pittsburgh (the other NE city I'd suggest they visit is Buffalo). This has nothing to do with whether they should visit or not, because 1) WCW was run by "hicks" for awhile and ran in the Northeast often and 2) the Orlando crowd shits on Jarrett (Drop the title chants anyone?) and so did the Nashville crowd after awhile (even though he did get a small, but vocal, face reaction during my visit to the Aslyum).

Credit: PWInsider.com It's good that they are going to have Ortiz appear on Impact. I still think they should go the press conference route, with Jarrett interrupting and maybe even smashing a guitar over his head with Styles saving if Ortiz would allow it. That way they'd have footage they could use later, a la Hogan. I would have thought it was too late for footage to be inserted into Impact since you would imagine that they have sent the tape over already, so maybe this is for the next 2 weeks' shows to follow up the announcement on this week's edition.

I'm really looking forward to seeing the tag title match. All reports said it was PPV quality.
-
I actually like that idea with Monty winning the Gauntlet and going face in the 3-way at Slammiversary. If they could convince Tito to work, which he might with Shamrock, that'd be a very good semi-man for the big show, IMO.
-
I'm not suprised by the tag match, though I kinda wish they could find another heel to make it a six man, so that the Truth could be included. But I'm sure he'll be in the battle royale, so it's not like he won't be on the PPV. It's great that they are trying to turn around orders faster now, because it did take FOREVER for DVDs to arrive. And they're just in time too, because I'm ordering Against All Odds as soon as it's available. I must see that Iron Man match.

There are only 2 conditions were a WGN deal could be considered a step one: 1) If they are no longer paying to be aired 2) If they are getting a primetime or 2 hour slot. Otherwise, I'd say they'd be better off where they are. I wonder if Impact will move to WGN or if they will continue Impact and debut a new program, which was the rumored plan when Spike TV was being talked about.

Here's a report from PWInsider.com: I thought I read that Shocker was double booked with a PPV in Mexico on the day of Hard Justice, but I guess not. I wouldn't be surprised to see Skipper added to that match too, b/c they kept him strong too. The AMW/Naturals should rock, and so should the Shane/Sabin match. Here's hoping for rematches on the PPV. Thoughts on the tapings?

Here's some news from PWInsider.com's Mike Johnson:
-
Here's an update on the ME build from Mike Johnson: There has to be some physical contact between AJ and Jarrett between now and the PPV, so I hope they included some of that in there. And hopefully, they'll get Ortiz to tape a promo as well.
-
I said in another thread that you could probably add something with the 3LK and the Outlaw, most likely Konnan and James vs Outlaw and Monty or something like that. That be 7 matches, with the main likely to go 20 and the gauntlet likely to eat another half hour. And you could probably through something in there for Hoyt if they need another match.
-
I think that's strange too. I guess the thought is that Styles' popularity will sell the PPV by itself, along with Ortiz, but I doubt it. Maybe we'll see another press conference to hype Jarrett threatening Ortiz. And I'm pretty sure we can look forward to the Outlaw and Monty Brown taking on the 3 Live Kru at the PPV, and Waltman and DDP will probably be in the Gauntlet.

Here's a more detailed report from the Torch:
-
I'm sure you can add Sabin vs Shane or maybe a mixed tag between the two since they seem to have a nice little feud going from the spoilers. And a report I just read has the AMW/Naturals rematch confirmed.
-
Now the real question is, what kinda effect with this have on the buyrate? I'm sure that with the money they're shelling out, TNA is going to expect this to be it's most watched PPV, but can Ortiz have a Tyson-like effect (on a much smaller scale of course) on TNA? And if he doesn't, who gets the blame? (One guess) This is, after all, the first ME in the monthly era that doesn't feature one of the "names" on top.
-
The cynic is me thinks this is the only way that they could get Jarrett to agree to drop the belt, with the possibility of him blaming Ortiz for the loss and doing a money match at a future PPV against Tito. Either way, I think this is a good move for TNA, though I still hope they show some continuity and include Abyss in the main event.

Here's Meltz's summary, from today's report:
-
Maybe the fact that they've cleared Eurosport could give some credence to the rumors of them considering a European tour. Bringing in Matt is nothing but a positive in my eyes, as is getting rid of Kash. What does everyone else thing about this news?
-
I agree. This was probably going to be the first show that I'd ordered since Turning Point, mostly because I enjoyed the early build for Skipper/Daniels, and I though that Abyss/Styles and AMW/Team Canada would all deliver big matches. But I don't think I wanna see eight cage matches. I'll see how the reviews sound and consider catching a replay, though I might just wait and order the Against All Odds DVD so I can see the iron man match.
