Sorry for the double post

Saw this on Slam Wrestling and thought it was a good read...

I saw this on Slam Wrestling and thought it was interesting:
-
They probably left that match off because it's on at least 2 of their other DVDs (Best of the Title Matches and Phenomenal), while the Deadly Draw, which was also a damn good match, hasn't been included on an other release (though it could possibly be on the 3LK set).

Here's an update on this Sunday's PPV from PWInsider.com: Dutt replacing Kash is fine by me...and as for who replaces Nash, color me clueless. I'd assume they'd want a "name," so they might try to throw some money at Savage or Sting , but I think a TNA face could get a great rub by being tossed in there. The problem is, they haven't developed anyone who could plausibly be in the main event without sticking out. The Truth would probably be the most likely choice, but he's been buried since spending last summer as JJ's bitch and he's scheduled to be on the pre-show. Any other thoughts on who the mystery man might be?

I don't know why they wouldn't at least travel with the PPVs if they are going to do Impact for free. I remember reading that they drew a pretty good paid attendance to Victory Road, but then turned around and had the next PPV be free. I don't know who makes that kind of decision.

Credit: PWInsider.com I'm assuming the Hard Justice main event will be Styles/Jarrett, and I guess this is TNA's way of spicing up this over done match-up, but I have no idea who they could get. The only way it'd make a different in the buyrate is if its a name, but I don't know who would come in or who would make sense. I guess if they can convince Sting it would make sense since his primary TNA feud was with Jarrett, or maybe Shamrock will come back, but him and Jarrett didn't really interact much during Shamrock's run. Glad to see they've listed a PPV for July, but I wonder if the reason they haven't had a date is because they are not renewing their deal with Universal and they are looking for a venue right now. They could always go back to Nashville, but they will probably get crapped on for the way they left town. I could see them doing somewhere else in the south (esp the Carolinas and Georgia), but I think this could be a good time to test the waters in the mid-west (Chicago would be great) or the northeast (not NYC, but maybe Buffalo or Pittsburgh). A 3-way six man seems like too many guys in one match, but I guess it doesn't matter since it's the pre-show and everyone will be more concerned with the hype and the cage "construction."
-
I'm actually looking forward to the Styles/Hardy vs Raven/Abyss match and the AMW/Naturals matches more than I have for any matches on Impact since the X-Division 4 way. I have to give TNA credit in that respect...they've done a good job in the past few weeks of creating some interesting match-ups ('except that awful Apolo/Kid Kash main event). It also looks like the matches will get some time since there are only 3 of them. I think we'll get at least two near 10 min matches, which is really all you can ask for in a hour program that doesn't dedicate half the show to one match like the show with the 4 way.
-
I think they could beat the attendance they drew for Jarrett/Raven, which I believe was 1500, though no one really knows how much of was paid, and it wouldn't even require that much a storyline swift. If they complete the teased James turn, the Outlaws can start talkin shit to Hardy about bein the best team ever, and he can remind them about the Hardy Boyz. They can then not have Hardy appear til the PPV, but sign the match, so they get the curoisity PPV buy and the homecoming gate. It's almost too smart for TNA to think of it. They'll probably bring Hardy in and have him be Jarrett's new flunky or the next person to eat a Stroke.
-
Yeah, if they did a show in NC with the Hardys/NAO as the semi-main event, I think they could draw well, and then use that show to hopefully expose enough people to the product for a feasible return that wouldn't require a hot shot Hardy reunion to draw. I was thinking that they should consider that too. Maybe do a PPV in one of the venue that's D'Amore's promotion runs, let him handle local promotion and put Team Canada in a prominent role on the show.
-
Well as an update, they've listed July 17 as the No Surrender date, and of course, they're staying in Orlando for the show. I guess it's good because the TNA is dying crowd pegged Slammiversary as the last show (of course, once upon a time, Final Resolution or Against All Odds were the end), but I really wanted to see them try another market.

Here's an interview with AJ Styles that was posted on PWTorch.com:
-
If they can convince D'Lo to come back, I'd be down for that. His first TNA run was absolutely awesome (his feud with Styles one if its best World title programs ever) and if he can work like he did that summer, great. Plus, it could be explained storyline wise since he always had it out for Jarrett.
-
I hadn't thought about Monty being the referee, but I kinda like the idea. I do think Jarrett/Brown is about the best one-on-one match-up they can deliver for their first "big" PPV, but they'd have to put Brown over cleanly here. He couldn't possibly recover from 3 big jobs to Jarrett within six months.
-
I think TNA is missing a good opportunity to take advantage of Sharky's popularity to get some good heel heat. Him and D-Ray have a great 1-2-3 Kid underdog vibe, so once the tag belts end up on some heels, I'd like to see them get an upset victory with the help of say 3LK or AMW to win the belts and pop the crowd. And after a short reign, another team, say a jealous AMW, turns on them to huge heel heat and another face team comes to their defense during a post-match beatdown, setting up the next feud.
-
If they want the match to go over well, they could always stick Shark Boy in his place and pop the crowd. Since there's no real storyline for this match, this would be a good opportunity for them to get Sharky on a PPV for the first time since Victory Road I believe.
-
I agree that it'll be one of these guys, but I think it'll most likely be Dutt if he's available. TNA will want to re-debut him in a high profile spot, and having him be the first wrestler through the curtain on a PPV, while the crowd is virtually guaranteed to still be hot, will make him look like a star. The only way I think they'll go with Williams is if they want to keep the heel/face dynamic the same, but I don't think that's as important in an X Division spotfest as long as the majority of the match isn't heels.

Here's the report from PWInsider.com:

credit: PWInsider.com Thoughts?
-
I'd still say TNA's best hope for a money match is Jarrett/Brown. Though Jarrett made a name somewhere else, he's still looked at as a TNA wrestler and Brown is a homegrown talent. The storyline is in place for the turn, as long as they make it seem like Brown had this plan the whole time, and not that he just woke up and decided to turn on Jarrett. He has to be seen as playing Jarrett, who's gotten the better of all his other opponents mentally, for it work. But I think that a Jarrett/Brown PPV main event with the changing of the guard build of say Austin/Michaels at WM14 would do big business for TNA - relatively speaking of course.
-
He wrestled in some squash matches in the early days of the show, and was in one of the better TV matches they've ever aired (which is more a reflection of the show than the work) when he defended the belt against Monty Brown on the episode before Turning Point.
-
I agree...I thought that's where they were heading. Not only would it make more sense booking wise, but it'd sooooo improve the quality of the match.
-
Here's the report from pwinsider.com I know these threads pop up whenever someone is released from WWE, but I think these are the kinds of moves TNA should be making. Hardy could be a World Champion in TNA as long as the resist the temptation to make the young girls happy with a Hardy Boyz reunion. And Rhyno could be a good addition to the main event scene as well as well. Thoughts?
-
I think Hardy could be be a major player in TNA right now. If I were making the decision, I'd debut him as soon as his no-compete ends (if he has one). I'd tease the reunion, a la the DX reunion on RAW that started the never ending HHH/HBK feud. That way he'd have heat coming in, give him and Jeff something to do b4 moving him up to feud with hopefully a face champion.
-
I like them closing with AJ/Abyss as presumably, the last visual will be AJ Styles celebrating winning a title shot, which the fans should eat up if they tell the right story in the match. It's interesting that Dixie suggested putting all the matches in a cage. That Destination X buyrate must have been really low if the non-wrestling people are calling for such a drastic move. And anytime they focus on the X-Division, that's a good thing. So far, this Daniels/Skipper thing has been great. My only issue with is it that I wouldn't have used it as Daniels first feud to make him look more vulnerable. Sabin might have been a good first contender. Anyway, I'm just happy TNA is using the back story properly and booking a coherent storyline for once.
